Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I guess a more appropriate way to put it is "on a scale of 1 to ten (ten being OUTCH), how much of a hurt are you putting on your finances by going VIP?" For some trustafarians, the answer would be 1 to 2, while the aforemntioned admin ass't might be higher up. Just trying to gauge others: I'd say I'm a 6 - 7. But VIP is so worth it at Bonnaroo.

It actually didn't hurt my finances much at all I have no debt except a mortgage and saved for VIP. I'm ultra careful with my money.
My problem more than anything else was justifiying it to myself when I could have used it for something else, like a trip somewhere that I've never been. My husband and I went to Puerto Rico on our honeymoon (place on the beach, flights and car for 7 days) for the same amount that VIP costs.....
Well to answer THAT question -- it didn't hurt my day-to-day finances too much, but that's only because I've been saving for this since last Bonnaroo! $75 off every cheque does wonders for a Bonnaroo fund.

I gotch'a. I am about a 5 or a 6, but I am horrible with money. If I have it, I spend it. That shit just burns holes on my pocket.
OMG, that's perfect. I'm like Scrog...so if I keep spending like I've been doing, I won't be a trustafarian much longer! This year I'm "makin' hay while the sun shines" so I splurged on the VIP meal plan, too. It might be a way to hobnob w/some artists!? *crosses fingers*
Like carsoni4 I put money off to the side every payday just for vacations like Bonnaroo. Life is too short and I work to hard not to get away and enjoy myself outside of my city a couple of times a year.
Someone on this board made the point on VIP and Bonnaroo that sealed it for me: "It's a vacation, not an endurance test." GA was certainly the latter...especially during the monsoon that was '04.
I also saved for VIP but like dreamingtree, it was more of "what else could I be doing with this money?" As someone with a good amount of debt (thanks college!), that extra money could have been used to pay off some of that debt.
So I'm really and truly hoping I find VIP to be worth the extra $400; otherwise, I will be doing GA (in Tent Only) from now on.
I reserved my annual bonus for VIP tickets and have set aside part of my tax refund for supplies. If I didn't have either of those, I would have been setting aside part of each paycheck.
It really does help to know that you'll be doing VIP well in advance because it is not a small chunk of change.
We need about this much for travel each yr. The difference is it's all going to Bonnaroo this yr because my wife is joining me for the first time. We're splurging big, by our standards. El wire. Glow gear. Pricey camp setup. Big food budget.
We might have put the money into the house instead, but housing prices are falling monthly, so it doesn't pay. Therefore we're blowin' it all. We really don't have much money at all, we just need to travel regularly or bad things happen.
The ouch factor is I doubt we'll be back next yr. I've been outvoted and apparently I'm going to Scotland next year.

I voted with my age.... but I brought my son last year, and probably will again... he will turn 17 this summer.
I can't imagine doing GA... when I went to the last Woodstock - I did the equivalent of GA and was fine with it... It was not as HOT as in TN though. It is a nice vacation - rocking it out with a fun gang and hanging out with my kid while he is still around.... What could be better.
I signed up for a few overtime shifts @ work, I've been GA twice VOL once, but with the heat & long walk to CenterRoo last year I figured I'd save my knees for dancing!
Thanks to the poor economy catching up to my group over the last year we really had to stretch things to make VIP work within our strained budgets this year. My employer went out of business just weeks before last years Bonnaroo which left me without a full time job for over nine months but we are still doing VIP again this year and think it is worth every penny.
