I think Black Star and Girl Talks are nice little bits of info on the lineup. I have a feeling this is gonna be a historical year @ roo.
Obviously other electronic acts I want to see, but I'm sure there will be more.
They variety is already starting though, so far we've confirmed A Rap act, an Electronic act, and a Metal act via the clues. If we are correct about #2, then there is a pop act too. I like the way this lineup is shaping up.

Agreed, these two with the confirmation of Gregg Allman seems to be heading in a good direction. Also, the semi-confirmations from board members for Mumford and Sons and Cold War Kids are great.
Why would security know the lineup? Aren't most of the people who work security volunteers?
Yeah really? My husband worked the sound at one of the tents for the past two years and he did not know the line-up before we did.
Yeah but there is a big difference between sound personnel and security. I would say it would make sense to let the sound people in on the lineup because 1) they usually have more experience and might show a little discretion and 2) They might need to start thinking about how they are going to mix which artist at different times in the day.
Things certainly do seem to be taking shape. Also, according to Garageland The Strokes are going to be there. I can't wait to see the headliners. I wonder if they're going to be something out of left field, or if they'll be in line with some of the rumors around the board. It'll be interesting.
But all were on that horrendous Paste line up. So things could go south really fast.
Still praying for Radiohead and/or Daft Punk. Although I read today that Daft Punk were offered Coachella but turned it down because "the group was simply not ready from a production standpoint to return to live performance." So that makes me think they are out.

I, too, am disappointed by the spot on the lineup Girl Talk will take. Doesn't AC know that everyone and their brothers have all seen him at least twice? I'd just rather get some other, more interesting big-name electronic acts (read: FLY-LO!!!).
That said, I'm sure people will be excited about him, so I'm happy for them. And I definitely get ITM's point about conflicts.
Also, I will cautiously accept this phone call thing as a positive sign. However, when people are in "PR" mode, i.e. not forcing and/or ruining the announcement of the festival that has just paid your band millions of dollars, they might quickly go to a quick response like that to play dumb.
Definitely not reading anything into that rogue mall cop.

Maybe the person/people who did that "horrendous Paste lineup" knew more than we're givin' em credit for. Just sayin'

That's kind of the point. If sound guys don't know.....then what makes anyone think the security guys will know?

Yep that is my point.... Why would a security person know when the sound guys don't even know?

i've got my big list of bands i've asked on the 1st page of this thread but just to update you all:
sara watkins said yes will hoge said no tom tom club said "never say never". i simply asked if they were playing and that's the response i got. not sure if they understood the question.
I think it's the same thing with Outside Lands, it's Superfly & someone else, not AC.
It's not superfly. They have nothing to do with it except certain shows the produce.
Where's Sassbox when I need her.
I'm here for you, man. I got this.
Superfly has nothing directly to do with the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. They run a concurrent and related event they call "Jazzfest", which, as Garageland said, is an evening concert series taking place in various venues around the city during the weekend of NOJHF. Even though the former is commonly referred to as "Jazzfest", the two are not the same thing. Go to the NOJHF website, and you won't find any mention of Superfly Productions: www.nojazzfest.com/

I know for general security, such as searching to get into Centeroo, they hire from a company that hires college dudes. (DancerJess's boyfriend's fraternity has done Roo security in years past)
I really don't think security has any inside info. They still have approx four months to plan their security details after the lineup is announced.
