Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Last guess from me for this clue, Elizabeth Fraser. Her most recent recording is dedicated to Jake-Drake Brockman, the "5th Bunnyman," and BBC soundman, recorded prior to his death in a motorcycle accident. Among many projects, he did the sound for "Spectacled Bears: Shadows of the Forest" for the 2008 series of "The Natural World" TV documentary series. (He also looked to be somewhat of a ginger.) Ms. Fraser also did the vocals for Massive Attack's "Teardrop." Massive Attack is strongly rumored to be on the Farm this year.
Edit: Yeah, I know it's not on the list of likely suspects. But, when forging clues we don't know whether one band at a time is used to make a clue, or if the clues are made from a list of bands. If working from a list, individual clues may pick up some crosschatter from other bands on the list. The result is one clue may inadvertently give hints to an answer for another clue.

Sufjan Stevens has a song called Opie's Funeral Song but it's not the answer, pretty sure it's a metal band. I still think it's Motorhead who, as we all know, do everything louder than everyone else.
I can't believe I haven't figured this out before considering my background:
RjD2 alludes to space quite often: Final Frontier, A Spaceship For Now, even his name is based on a Star Wars character. RjD2 is also know for his Black Album mashup called the Silver Album, mixing Jay-Z's work with RJ's own production. This was "thwarted" by the negative publicity of Danger Mouse's Grey Album (Jay_Z and Beatles White Album mashup). Oh by the way, Danger Mouse IS speckled in his face, 100%.
This was definitely a watershed moment in the music industry. It brought internet law, in terms of music licensing to the forefront. Here is more information on the facts surrounding the Grey Album.....
Except Danger Mouse isn't on the list on page 59 and is in no way related to metal, so no.
You're acting like Danger Mouse isn't connected to just about every genre. Look at his recent history and help me fill in the blanks. if it's not him it's someone on page 59 he's connected to.
RJD2 sounds right, I've been trying to find a "speckled" link all day but I doubt the answer is in the bands list on the Roo Clue's page or someone would have focused in by now. imo.
unless it HAS to be a metal act for the elements sake of the clue, [though it could be argued that R2D2 is made of metal.. ]
*sigh* It is a band on the list on page 59. Gary has said so.
For the new page.

I haven't looked at the clue 1 board in a while, so i'm probably saying what's already been said. The idea of a Josh Homme related band not playing Coachella but playing Bonnaroo would be odd so i'd probably toss QTSA, Eagles of death metal, and Kyuss off that list.

Kyuss reformed without him.
And you can't just throw out stuff because its "not likely." We've done that a couple times already to no avail.
A trip to space thwarted by a speckled lad's demise. A watershed moment otherwise DAFT PUNK A trip to space could refer to TRON... U2 A trip to space U2s recent tour was based around sending the audience to space for freedom. DAFT PUNK THWARTED BY A SPECKLED LAD's DEMISE talking about jeff bridges sacrificing his life in the end of TRON and it would have been a watershed moment otherwise U2 THWARTED BY A SPECKLED LAD's DEMISE could be talking about the boy on the cover of the war album by u2 and how if it can be a watershed moment
At the rate we're going, it'll be Groundhog Day by the time we figure out the answer to this.
...wishful thinking
my guess for this one (however unpopular it may be) is Metallica just because they are on the list/may have been "discarded" and Gary said "clue 1 shouting is going to lead me def... or maybe deth" Megadeth is Dave Mustaine's (original Metallica guitarist) band
Edit my bad. That was the tweet Gary replied to... carry on

I honestly don't know what more we can do with this one. We know it's on that list so we can't come up with any NEW answers, but we've tried multiple times to narrow down the list and apparently failed at it and accidentally discarded the correct answer, so now we're all pretty much unwilling/unable to try to narrow it down at all.
I think we might be stuck as far as this one goes.
Ok, I'm probably wrong but I'm hoping it's Alice in Chains so did some research to see if it could any way be supported and here's what I came up with (which may have already been mentioned in the last 66 pages, but I'm at work and don't have time to confirm):
The "speckled lad" could be referring to Layne Staley who was often photographed with his sunglasses on. The band regrouped and released their self-titled album in 1995, which featured Cantrell's three-legged dog (named Sunshine - space reference) on the cover. It debuted at #1, but they didn't tour to support it due in large part to Staley's drug addiction. However the album went on to reach double-platinum status (a watershed moment otherwise).
pleasanthill : Perhaps you're the 1000th person to post that LOL.. but yeah that is what I believe it is. They are playing in France a week after Roo, but so is Kylesa and that's supposedly the answer to Clue #3. And he said they were similar in element (both metal).

Is the answer to clue #1 Dre? Refering to NWA as a watershed moment in music history and Easy E's demise? The common element with #3 being perhaps a common belief or perspective. (Anti-police for example.) Someone asked about metal being what 1 & 3 have in in common and asked about "cast-iron." Gary told him he was getting close. Slang for a gun was an "iron" back in the GANGSTER days...
