Everything daytime < Everything night time
I guess there are some exceptions but pretty much everything is better in the LN setting... Something like MMJ, I would be PO if they got stuck in a 2 hour pre HL day time spot
As for Deftones... I am indifferent... I liked them when I was an angry little 13 year old but thats a long time ago lol

I've seen them a few times, and personally....I have never been impressed with their live shows. Just my opinion, and it's been about 5 years since I last saw them so maybe this has changed.
LOVE their albums though; one of the few bands for me where I like their studio stuff better than their live stuff.
See I love there old stuff not so much new. BUT then again I haven't listened to any of there stuff since white pony, and since then my musical taste has changed dramatically to chill, mellow stuff. I'm hearing stuff that back when I was younger I talked a lot of leno about, but now I'm loving it. So I'm thinking if laggy's saying that exact same thing about their new stuff id like it. But no matter what I can always listen to deftones or tool and completely lose myself. I was just flipping threw all my music for some jam music. I had none so I came across a live tool cd and was 100% satisfied..I would give my left arm and eyeball to see tool live.
Well...they've mellowed out as well. If you haven't listened to Diamond Eyes you should imo. It's well done.
You've Seen The Butcher gives me chills. Not technical but the sonics and flow of that song is amazing
Edit: Also, download the Roo 2007 Tool show (it's posted online still, and is really good). Don't mean to digress the thread at all but did want to comment on that...
Yeah I didn't even know that was out I think digital bath was the last i knew from them, or was the self titled after that as well? Maybe that was the last I knew...either way I can say there definitely in my top favs of all time, even without knowing any of their recent stuff.

That Tool show was freaking amazing. I've seen them 6 times. toolshed.down.net says that they're currently working on another album. Can you believe that it has already been five years since 10,000 day came out?

White pony was their chillest CD (with the exception of the song elite, which is probably their heaviest song which seems strangely out of place on their most mellow album). They got back to being a little harder on their next album (self titled), and for Saturday Night Wrist and Diamond eyes I think they've found a nice experimental equilibrium between chill and loud. I like the tone shifts they use between mesmerizing chill vocals to straight up screaming.
And I agree, you've seen the butcher gives me chills as well. Best song on diamond eyes.
Check it out, I think it's actually a pretty good example of where their music has gone:
what? Is deftones latenight really unreasonable? Clutch and Gwar got Latenights last year, so they are doing metal/hard rock latenights They're relatively big, comparably big to other bands who have played late night tents. And they've develioped a pretty decent lightshow which would lend itself well to latenight Seems the best fit for them. Something like Mastodon>Deftones would be pretty sweet

Even though I think too many people want their favorite band late night, this is a solid argument. Mastodon into Deftones WOULD be the leno.

Deftones is a perfect choice for Roo. I think that they should also include a band that is a bit more into the whole hardcore thing, but one that people can have fun seeing. My vote is Enter Shikari. Of all the heavy rock shows I've seen, and I've been to quite a few, there's definitely sets the bar for being the most fun and getting the crowd to go insane. Also they've got some bitchin' music that I would kill to hear live again.

WOnder if we could get Deftones/Team Sleep double billing out of Chino. And maybe Maynard would show up to and play with Tool, APC, and Puscifer, and Green Jelly that would be where I would be posted up all day.

I'm pretty sure I've already mentioned this before, but if we could get Deftones and maynard on the same bill, then get maynard to come out with chino to sing passenger i'd cream myself
