Mayo and Chico are okay with using my personal paypal... anyone else? We can work out another method of donating if you're not comfortable with the idea.
For those that want to make a donation for Matt, you can send it via paypal. My e-mail address is: julieahollis@gmail.com
FYI: No need to mention it's for Matt since I rarely use paypal, I will know because it wouldn't be for anything else.
What you all are doing is amazing. Matt would be so happy knowing that so much good work is being done in his honor. He told me once, that he would never be rich, but he would do all he could to help others.
As for Essex and Addy (his Rottweiler pups) they are living with Judy and Jerry (his parents) and have been since he left for NOLA in January. So don't worry about the babies, they are getting tons of lovins.
Matt and I had some amazing times together and today I've been going through the photos on FB. It hurts but it's nice to think I'll always have those memories. His smile was so genuine and he was always so happy. I know he's pleased reading this. You have no idea how much inforoo meant to him. He considered us all family and if he had your number in his phone, your name was probably listed as your board name. We would talk about people on the board and about threads just like we would if the conversations had taken place IRL. So, keep posting good things. I know he's keeping tabs and joining in the countdown to next year.
If the makers of Sanuk's would make a CarpeDM version and donate $5 for each pair sold that would be great. Seriously I would buy multiple pairs. I along with many others was introduced to Sanuk's by him. They are the only shoes I like to wear now. I never would have known without CarpeDM. I noticed this year tons of folks wearing Sanuk's and the reason is that he spread the word and now friends of friends of inforoosters are hearing CarpeDM's gospel. I figure they could probably have the shoe out by next Bonnaroo and if they need one of us to we can set up a booth at Bonnaroo and sell them at the 10th Anniversary.

I'm gonna go ahead and post this in all three threads, I just received it from one of Matt's friends. I still haven't figured out what to say back. Still at a loss for words.
Hi,
My name is Clara and Matt was my friend for 10 yrs. I found the link to the inforoo message board through an article about Matt's passing in our local Asheville paper the Mountain Xpress.
We were leveled by the news on Sunday. I had lunch with him while he passed through town on his way to Bonnarroo--he was so excited. Every year. But I don't think any of us realized just how special and how vast a community he had built within the festival and I have to say it has been such an amazing gift to be able to read through the posts and realize how many more people had the chance to know him--words are just not doing justice to how I feel about you people right now and the donations you are gathering and wanting to contribute and honor him. I am passing the link along so that everyone can see. It means the world to us and I sincerely hope to meet you this weekend. We are now aware of his beautiful Bonnarroo community and we are touched and grateful and absolutely in awe of you wonderful souls. I hope you have been able to get ahold of Jerry and Judy and Lauren. Please let me know if you need anything in the way of ...anything. If there's a brightside in any of this it is that without this tragedy we might never have known the scope of his impact...I can't get over this Sanuks thing...
From the bottom of my heart, thank you and my deepest condolences,
So far we have raised $65! Thanks for those that have contributed.
For those that would like to contribute to Matt's charity fund using paypal, just type in my e-mail address: julieahollis@gmail.com If you don't have paypal but would still like to send a donation, PM me and we can work something out.

I'll be sending something either tomorrow or Friday
Oh - and I'd also like to add - come on people - I know it has only been a day or two since this idea came up but I know we can do better than this.
This board managed to chip in enough money one year, out of nowhere, for Boz and I to attend Bonnaroo when we thought we could not going to be able to go. That was alot of money - I know that with all the people that Matt touched - we can come up with at least that much.

That's cool! I don't get paid until Friday so I personally can't donate until then.
I think I will keep the collections open until the end of next week to give people plenty of time.... what does everyone think of that idea? Does that give everyone enough time to donate if they want?
For anyone interested, this is where we'll be sending the donations:
Matt was working in New Orleans with Episcopal Relief and Development, and his desire was to see landscaping at the homes that he was helping to rebuild, so that beauty would be brought back, the birds would return, and the people living in these homes would not only have their bodies sheltered, but their souls fed. To this end, we ask that you not send flowers, but if you would like to help to carry out his wish, your donation would be very much appreciated. Donations may be made to St. Andrew's on-the-Sound, 101 Airlie Road, Wilmington, NC 28403. Please designate to "Matt's Trees."
Thanks Brian, and everyone that has donated so far.
We're up to $120 in less than 24 hours! Keep those donations coming so we can help Matt's family proceed with his dream of providing landscaping for the houses he was rebuilding.
