Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
My wife and I are going to Bonnaroo for the first time this year, and we are already signed up for VIP. The plan is for us to fly into Nashville Wednesday night, rent a car, get supplies, and be on line first thing in the morning.
Having never been to Bonnaroo before, any suggestions as to what we should or should not pack will be appreciated. (I have read the Bonnaroo survival guides on here.)
Also, since we are flying in, we'll be limited in what we can bring on the plane. We'll be looking to buy supplies Wednesday night/Thursday morning, but we don't want to have to waste any time. Any suggestions there would be helpful.

If you just came with the clothes on your back, you'd still have a great roo as long as you make some friends. Everyone is usually more than willing to help you out. If there is something you need and can't bring, post in the helping hands thread and someone may bring it for you to borrow.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
If you've read the survival guides, you'll have a good idea. The very basics are water, shade, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, somewhere to sleep. Alcohol ,if you're so inclined and snacks are helpful but you can buy them there.
Shade is the one thing that may be a hassle to get but bring something. Check out the Helping Hands thread when it get moving . Maybe someone can help you out with that.
thanks. I'm good on the basics. Tent, chairs, shade, bedding, general packing, that's all done. It's the food, water, and alcohol that I'll have to pick up after I'm there. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but with landing at 10 PM, and wanting to be on line by 10 AM, it might be an issue getting beer and hard liquor.
On that front, if I want to get some good scotch and put it in a metal flask before I check in, that shouldn't be a problem, right? I can't imagine putting it in plastic.

Here is one liquor/beer store near the airport. There are more, I'm sure. The others I checked had hours of 8am - 10pm though.
You might want to get everything in Murfreesboro in the morning on the way to Roo. It is right off I-24 on the way to the fest.
You can get beer anytime at 24 hr grocery stores.
A metal flask will be fine for the scotch.
Enjoy and welcome to VIP!! It's the only way to go!

Here's my survival list as far as consumables go: Cranberry trail mix, Pringles, Pop Tarts, Nutri-Grain Bars, Beef Sticks, Bushmills Irish Whiskey, Coca-Cola, and Fat Tire beer.
I have a 10 oz flask, but I don't think that will be enough for the weekend. I'll have to get some more. I was thinking about those metal water bottles. That might work.
I got a hydration backpack and was wondering if I should get a second one for my wife or is one enough for both of us? I'm thinking that being in VIP we'll be close enough to zip back to camp if we need to.

My group and I fly to Nashville every year. One essential aspect of a VIP ticket is that there is no massive line on the highway to sit. Coffee County High School check in starts at 10am Thursday morning- then we back door the venue in a exponentially smaller line. SO, no stress for you two getting down to Manchester from Nashville with plenty of time to shop. Bring what you can on the plane, sitting on the ground all day for 5 days is not the way to go. So if you can either bring a folding chair (the newer ones that fold up into a cylinder) and bring a tent. Its nice to have shade for your tent to squeeze out an hour or more sleep when that sun comes up. Walmart and a Liquor store are just off the Bonnaroo exit, you can water/liquor/food up there. If you buy two liters of Club Soda you can dump them out and fill them with whatever's your pleasure. IF you have some money to throw around, you could buy tents, coolers, chairs etc when you get down as well. Also there is a great little campground with a pool ( I hope its still open, we go there every year) called Whispering Oaks Campground, has a pool, trees, bathrooms, pool table and a real cool owner. Its a great pre-Roo resting spot. Cheap as well, $10 a plot.

Question about this. First time VIP. I'll probably be staying in Chattanooga Wed. night. I feel like I'll hit some I-24 traffic on the way to the high school. Should I not stay there and just truck tot he high school Wed. night or will I be ok?
"You look like you're listening to every note." - Lady to me during LCD's "final" show 2023: Mar 29 - Guster Apr 6 - Postmodern Jukebox Apr 26 - Father John Misty May 14 - Taylor Swift (Philly) May 17 - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss July 12 - moe. July 16 - CAKE (Portland, ME) July 28-30 - Newport Folk (#12!) Dec 8-9 - Goosemas!
I don't know of any real Irish whiskey in plastic bottles
Something I learned from my parents and my boss when I was a kid at our cottage in Canada. Don't drink from the 7up 2 liters on top of the fridge. They were never 7up. They used to pour the booze into pop bottles so they wouldn't have to declare them at the border.
So buy what you want in glass and transfer it to a 2 liter of your choice.

I think the traffic will be ok. IF you want to play it safe there is a great and cheap little campground just off I 24- the same exit you have to take to get to VIP check-in if you were driving from Nashville- called Whispering Oaks Campground. It has a pool, showers, billiards, a real laid back owner who lets the ROo crowd stay there prior and during the fest. SO, if you want to play it safe, get up there. I think, however, you should be fine. There will be a ton of vehicles trying to get in by early Thursday morning but they are all over in a line on the shoulder.
