Before they "hatched" and became a "star" they used to be something else...the same thing as what the the new DJ or DJJD was twice before. Just a thought
You guys are probably on the right track with the grandparents thing though, and i like the flaming lips answer
also doesnt "Clue Z" have something to do with it? why not just clue 8?
I keep relating it back to sleeping....ZZZzz's means to sleep and the whole "doozy" thing made me think "doze".

There was a cartoon from 1938 called "A Star is Hatched" directed by Friz Freling. He also used the names Isadore freling and I. Freling. Maybe something he did before this one. Also, Yosemite Sam was based on this guy. Can anyone make something out of that?
DJJD didn't give this clue. I think that could be significant. Or I could be crazy.
Yeah me too. He said the DJ is still coming up with a name for herself. Maybe we should be helping to name her.
At first I was thinking the same thing, but after listening to some of the audio from last year's clues here: melaniermarkham.com/rooclues the voice sounds alot like Operator 5011, who has given clues before and also talked about stars before. Still could mean something though, I guess. I'm wondering why this is clue "Z" ???

Could very well be as I am not a radio roo vet and am probably not the best judge for this voice thing.
Aha. So perhaps we're dealing with another L O S T clue, then?
Someone noted the odd wording of this clue before. Maybe DJJD's hint about Jeopardy could concern this clue, too? In that case, it might look like this:
"This is clue Z......Before the star hatched = what is two times before I was"
So, "what is two times before I was" is the Jeopardy style question. We need the answer.
DJJD, how about a little help on whether or not this clue has anything to do with L O S T? That way I don't have to spend an hour digging around Lostpedia looking at Locke and Desmond's pages.
Flaming Lips' new album is Embroynic. And Star Death and White Dwarfs singer is his nephew.
I'm really liking this answer more and more. Flaming Lips are rumored this year and Stardeath and White Dwarfs fit this clue really well.
They also covered Dark Side of the Moon together with Henry Rollins (who is rumored to be at the comedy tent, as per our oh-so-insightful comedy thread ;D )
Maybe they could get with Roger Waters and have some fun on stage together.
Oh, pah-leeeeease let this be right---it's WAY too exciting!

Oh boy. Clue Z? I'm really falling behind here. And my head kinda hurts. I can't really come up with anything for this yet, but the fact that DJ JD said it was a whole new brand of clue makes me hesitant to buy into any of the answers that are being thrown around. None of these answers would make it any different from any other clue.

So Clue Z,
We've gone from establishing Rosanne Cash to a L O S T clue? Guys, it's simple....who's a modern day singer (musician) whose parent(s) parent (as in his/her grandparents) are the most famous of all. And it took me 20 minutes to write this as I've enjoyed my night
Bob Dylan had 4 children with his wife Sandra Lownds. 3 sons and 1 daughter. The 3rd son was Jakob Dylan (had 2 more boys before him). So maybe this is referring to there being 2 more sons (the sun is a star) before him.
Jakob Dylan also has a new album due out in 2010 produced by T-Bone Burnett. He did come to Roo in 08 in support of his first solo album
They also covered Dark Side of the Moon together with Henry Rollins (who is rumored to be at the comedy tent, as per our oh-so-insightful comedy thread ;D )
Hey... that was mere speculation on my part! Crunchy to you for perpetuating random things out of my mouth as rumor
Now, thinking about this in light of Jeopardy practice... This is clue Z......Before the star hatched is what is two times before I was When you're answering a question on that show, it's in the form of "What is (answer?)" The "what (or who) is" isn't really a part of or relevant to the answer. Might that be a similar case here?
This is both clue #8 and clue Z, so Z=8. Jay-Z called himself the 8th wonder of the world. 8/2=4. The 4th wonder of the world is the Temple to Artemis (Venus). Wiki all this stuff and Orion gets mention. The Orion nebula is known to be a good star hatchery. I don't know where to take it from here, and I'm positive this track leads nowhere.
Well, i think it's going to be Zappa Plays Zappa. They're a festival favorite (and not just roo) and i think they are due to announce some kind of summer performance schedule soon enough.
So that clue IS kind of weird sounding, but they do go out of their way to say Clue 'Z' and that would indicate ZAPPA to somebody like me, and especially since the band is headed by Dweezil Zappa, who is aged 41 i believe. I Don't know how old this DJ or Cluegiver is, but if shes anywhere around 20, Dweezil would be twice her age and he was also an MTV Vj in the 1980's. I dont know, his father Frank Zappa, blah blah blah
I'm not the greatest at these damn clues, so please figure it out, or make sense of what i just said.. i don't know if anyone else besides me really wants to see Zappa there. that would make my entire weekend personally.
Using djjd's tweet hint, a star can also be spelled SUN, or wrongly spelled SON. As has been mentioned before, Ringo's son is named Zac with a Z. (Who strangely replaced a moon.) And, I don't know where this goes....
