There's no way they actually have the playoffs, right? I can't see sporting events any time this summer being good for anyone, idk. Really missing NBA and NHL right now. Looking forward to The Last Dance.
I can't really see either league finishing their season. Travel is a big concern, even if they decide to play without fans. It looks like the 2020-20201 NBA season might not even start on time, at this point. I live for the summer, and all things summer, and right now it's killing me to think about the possibility that there may be no MLB season. The NFL thinks they're going to start on time, and since they're usually wrong about everything these days that means their opening day is in doubt, too.
We may get through the "peak" in the next month or two, but if you listen to people like Dr. Fauci you have to think it will be quite some time before we really get back to normal life. I'd love to get back to normal next week, or even next month, but even if the infection and death numbers drop, this shit isn't going away just yet. Maybe we get 100 MLB games, with 7-inning double headers, slightly expanded active rosters, games played at neutral sites (Spring training facilities in Arizona, for example), and games capped at 10 innings, or who knows what. But if we get into June without significant progress, a 2020 season will begin to look unlikely in any form.
Good news: a coworker told me the Korean baseball league is getting ready to start. Yay, go Seoul, or another team form a city other than Seoul - I love Korean baseball!
Coo Shin Soo is probably my fave of the handful in the bigs, but it seems like he never played pro in Korea. straight to the league from the under-18 tourny like a bawss
Inforoo should choose a Korean baseball team to all be fans of. Maybe jpbrez has a team.
The Kia Tigers from Kwanju have only been around since 2011 but have won 11 championships. And Matt Williams is their manager.
There's the Kiwoom Heroes, the oldest existing team without a championship to their name.
Or the NC Dinos. They have also never won a championship, but manager Lee Dong Wook thinks they have what it takes to get over the hump. And apparently they have cheerleaders. Maybe other teams do too, I don't know, but Jang Se-jung, whose hobby is listed as "lying down" (using Google Translate), says "Get ready for an unstoppable tension !!" this season. And who doesn't like dinosaurs?
I've never watched the KBO before (just did like five minutes of research, LOL), but you'd better believe I'm going to, as soon as I figure out how.

I don't remember all the details, but here's an odd fact about him: he was only allowed to stay in the US and with the Indians at one point because the South Korean team won a gold medal at the Asian Games. Otherwise he would have had to have gone home to do his two years of compulsory military service, which all South Korean men have to finish by a certain age (30 maybe?). He probably could have continue to work in the US legally, and might have been eligible for citizenship, but without the waiver he and his team members secured with their win he might not have been able to go home again. That would have been a tough decision.

Do they award multiple championships a year, or how does that work?
Also, I like baseball teams that cheat. Which Korean baseball teams are the best at stealing signs?
That should have said 2001, not 2011, my bad. I'm assuming the teams with the most American players will be the best at steroids and other forms of cheating. The corporate sponsors are prominently featured in the team names, so if you happen to be a fan of products made by LG, Samsung, or Kia, you're in luck.

GARPAX IS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE
this H.O.R.S.E. tournament is janky but wholesome, i'd like to see some version of it in the all star weekend.
Glad Chauncey won that first round. I like Young but I didn’t like his H.O.R.S.E. game. I’m going for Tamika Catchings this round but props to Conley for that home gym. Damn.
specifically with the pippen one it was like pippens arc and then wham Jordan in college again. Which I get they were trying to say they had similar work ethics but they didn't really make that the point or just doing Jordans first all the way because it came first. I still enjoyed it but also thought the pacing of years was weird. And I imagine it will continue like that with certain games being tied to people's whole stories like pips (Phil, rod, Kerr, maybe toni)
Yeah I've only seen the first episode so far but going back to college/the draft didn't really make sense or fit with the story where it was at that point. I also think they didn't do a great job of explaining the interpersonal dynamics of the team other than just being like "well, you know, Krause is a short, fat piece of shit, so he basically wanted to sabotage the team", which.. ok, but they didn't do an awesome job exploring what MJ and Phil's dynamic was, and they didn't really expand on the other players supposedly being at the end of their run.
Obviously, that's all just first episode takeaways, and there's another nine episodes, but even as an intro it didn't work awesome imo. I've heard the second one is better.

i did have to keep reminding myself it's only the first two when i was constantly asking for more phil
