A.A. Bondy!
Where was everyone?!?!
One of the best shows of the weekend. Top 3 for me.
The feedback was shit, and the guy yelling Hell Yeah after every song got old, but he rocked. He was cracking jokes, feeling the music, and loving every moment.
Justin Vernon was watching the whole show, and they talked afterwards... potential tour? That would complete my life.
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey
"Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I am my own god. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us." — Charles Bukowski
Russian Circles really surprised me. I literally heard about them the day before we left for Wakarusa so i was pumped to have something interesting to check out instead of the Boss
Oh and Tobacco was totally awesome

A.A. Bondy was incredibly awesome... Portugal. The Man was also very good. I have to say though that I did not think Buffett would be as awesome as he was. The Coral Reefers and Ilo were a great surprise.

I didn't know much about the Dirty Projectors before outside of Knotty Pine, their song with Byrne, and the were amazing. I went to Katzenjammer just because they were before the Dirty Projectors and they were great and they seemed like they were seasoned vets. And I went to AA Bondy at the suggestion of a friend and I started out sitting in the back just far enough that I could see the stage and I ended up going up as far as I could.
Raphael Saadiq. Stop laughing! He had great energy, his backup singers were awesome, and it was great dancing. I'm glad I popped in that show. AA Bondy was great, too.
As for Ben Harper, he was probably one of my best shows, but he's not a sleeper - I have very high expectations for his show. Did anyone else notice how wonky the sound was for his show, though, if you weren't under the tent? I had that problem for a few shows at the other tent.

I'm not big into moe. or the sonic stage, but that set made me smile for 30 minutes straight. It was one of the only times all weekend I just sat back and thought to myself "I am SO motherquacking happy right now".
Not a sleeper show since everyone knows and loves moe. but you get the idea. It was a sleeper show for me.
Katzenjammer had about 30 people or so in the crowd at the start of their sonic stage set, by the end it was filled up and their CD was sold out.
Also, I was skeptical of Janelle Monae's live appearance, I had only heard about 2 or 3 songs beforehand, but she put out an AMAZING show. Really energy packed and won the crowd over.

i'll have to say bon iver as well, even though i didn't expect to be disappointed. i was getting chills the whole time...especially during the wolves at the end. such an amazing show.
I second this. Only beats AA Bondy as a sleeper for me because I went in with high expectations for Bondy and he delivered. SteelDrivers was a bit of dipping my toe in and instead I ended up going for a swim! Beautiful music.
