Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Here's a fun one. Mort Garson's Mother Earth's Plantasia is being reissued for the first time. This has been a grail for vinyl dorks for a while. I figured Light In The Attic would be the one to reissue it so it's interesting that Sacred Bones got it.
Anyway it's a 1970s synth album made to help plants grow better. It's a perfect balance of cheese/actual good music. Sacred Bones put the whole thing on YouTube if you want to check it out.
Hey, guys! I've been looking to buy some plastic sleeves for my records since I'll likely be moving soon and also because I've been trying to keep the plastic wrap around the covers as best I can and that's starting to seem like an increasingly fraught idea.
I've checked out a couple of options on Amazon, but it seems like overall I have a lot of choices. Do any of you who use sleeves, do you have any recommendations or at least any tips on what I should be looking out for?

Anti-static 4 mil clear are nice. Honestly any will do the job though. Mobile fidelity has some nice ones. You want a tight fit but still room to move around. (That’s what she said).

Anyone use the Sonos adaptor with your turntable?
Edit: I’m moving to a new place next month that has one big combined living room/dining room/kitchen. I’d like to have speakers in all three “zones” that can play vinyl. Also I’d ideally be able to use the amp and set of 2 speakers I currently have, and then add on 2 more in each of the other zones. Wondering if the Sonos Connect would be a feasible option for this or if I’d have to run wires through the house.

THE RACONTEURS RETURN WITH NEW ALBUM, HELP US STRANGER
OUT JUNE 21ST ON THIRD MAN RECORDS
The Raconteurs – Jack White, Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence, and Patrick Keeler – have announced the release of their long-awaited new album, HELP US STRANGER, which is the GRAMMY® Award-winning rock band’s third studio LP and first new album in more than a decade. Out on Friday, June 21, HELP US STRANGER sees the mighty combo reassembled, stronger and perhaps even more vital than ever before as they continue to push rock 'n' roll forward into its future, bonding prodigious riffs, blues power, sinewy psychedelia, Detroit funk, and Nashville soul via Benson and White’s uncompromising songcraft and the band’s steadfast musical muscle. With HELP US STRANGER, The Raconteurs have returned right when they are needed most, unified and invigorated with boundless ambition, infinite energy and a collectivist spirit operating at the peak of its considerable powers, once again creating a sound and fury only possible when all four of its members come together.
White and Benson wrote all the songs on HELP US STRANGER except one cover, “Hey Gyp (Dig The Slowness),” which was written by Donovan. Recorded at Third Man Studio in Nashville, TN, the album was produced by The Raconteurs and engineered by Joshua V. Smith. Longtime friends and musical collaborators helped make HELP US STRANGER, including keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist Dean Fertita (The Dead Weather, Queens of the Stone Age) and Lillie Mae Rische and her sister Scarlett Rische. The album was mixed by Vance Powell and The Raconteurs at Blackbird Studios in Nashville.
To coincide with the release, The Raconteurs and Third Man Records have revealed a special HELP US STRANGER-themed Vault Package #40 that features a limited edition electric green/black/copper swirled vinyl LP. Pressed at Third Man Pressing in the Cass Corridor of Detroit, the 180-gram marble vinyl edition also features exclusive Vault-only moving image lenticular cover art. The companion 7-inch single will feature early demo recordings of two songs from the new album – “Help Me Stranger” and “Somedays (I Don’t Feel Like Trying.” A Patrick Keeler-designed Raconteurs bandana and an exclusive Raconteurs slip mat are included in the package as well. Additionally, Vault members will receive first pre-sale ticket access to more soon to be announced Raconteurs headline shows. Third Man Vault subscriptions are open now through April 30.
All HELP US STRANGER Vault packages will ship to arrive on or close to the album’s street date. Head to the sign-up page for more information regarding Vault Package #40, additional Vault benefits, and subscription details.
If any out there in Inforoo land are interested in some experimental punk-rock, one of my favorite bands has their double vinyl “greatest hits” on sale fer half off, $20! I LOVE the band Tub Ring, and am just ecstatic that this even happened!

I guess I should go through the Record Store Day list again and see what catches my eye. I highly doubt I"m going early to line up like I used to do. The last year or so it's just easier to go a little later and grab some of the things I wanted. I always miss out on a couple of items but I usually get a good chunk of what I wanted.

I'm really irritated that both Jeff Tweedy and Broken Social Scene recently announced RSD exclusive releases. They're getting 2500 and 5000 pressings, respectively. Normally I wouldn't line up but... man... I don't know that I can sleep on those.

I went and grabbed the releases from Jeff Tweedy, Broken Social Scene, and Fela Kuti & Roy Ayers. Woke up at 6, in line around 7, store opened at 9, got inside at like 10:15, got into the actual row of records around 10:30. Took all of two minutes to grab the records I want then head out. Didn't leave the store until 11:00. There were still hundreds of people waiting in line at that point.
I think next year I'll stick to my usual strategy of just going in the afternoon and seeing what's left.

Anyone use a good cleaner? vacuum, spin, just hand clean?
I have a stylus cleaner pad and also a vinyl brush for records. Got both on Amazon for a good price/cheap and both work great. I’ve seen some folks that wash their vinyl by hand sink-style (not sure what cleaner they use) and then air dry them. Not sure if I have time for that, though....

Surprising lack of download cards in a bunch of my RSD haul this year. Even from modern artists. Dr. Dog live 2 and Tweedy warmer both didn't have any included. I get it for soundtracks and maybe older stuff but damn....hope this isn't becoming more common.

I don’t know if any of my RSD hauls in the last five years have had a download card. There wasn’t a huge amount of must haves fer me this year, but I did snag the Bill Hicks release online! Very much lookin’ forward to that one! And I still need to find a copy of the Chris Robinson Brotherhood picture disc, but I’m just gonna wait fer some of these flipper prices to go down!

I got A Love Supreme for $4 last week. Turns out the pressing I got goes for about $80 on average on discogs. It's now my most expensive record but also one of the cheapest I've ever gotten.

Anyone else love collecting vinyl but rarely listen to it? It's something I enjoy but when I think about it too much it feels pretty silly.
I go through phases of not listening to it. Pretty much any hobby is silly if you think about it too long. I mean, most of us spent the better part of a year guessing the Bonnaroo lineup and trying to get scoopz.

I listen way less than I used to. Streaming services are just so easy, and my music time is also taken up a lot with watching DJ sets on youtube. I do find vinyl very satisfying when I put one on.
I have at least considered dumping the vinyl hobby altogether and selling everything. But never seriously.
