thought about getting the Zappa, but $40 on one was more than I wanted to spend. was hoping to find tardust and the cornelius ones, might try to find at another place sometime this week. still ended up with the new Koze, an austin r&B christmas that some rando recommended to me as a must buy, and a 6 disc, 12 sides of christmas, monster compilation. also finally got around to compiling my collection which was fun.

Still waiting on my Kids See Ghosts vinyl. I'm getting impatient. I've heard people cancelled their order and got it $5 cheaper on Amazon with 2 day shipping. May do that depending on how they respond to my angry email.

My copy of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit live from the Ryman I got the other day doesn't have a download card included, even though the sticker says it has it. I think my record store took it because the record wasn't sealed (even though sold as "new". Dang

I always feel like that's one of those things where why should they believe me that I didn't take the download card already and just want another/refund. I'll likely just look for a download somewhere online at some point.

Email the artist web store or the label? Download cards are not valuable they can probably spare you an extra.

Yea, that's one thing I was thinking. Worth a shot. I was surprised when Sub Pop records gave me a replacement sleeve for some Bob's Burgers vinyl box set I got because I asked about it. The one they sent was kind of messed up (just the cardboard sleeve, not the actual album stuff) and they were just like "Actually, I have a spare one right here by my desk....what's your address?" and was pleasantly surprised.
I made an Instagram with hopes of getting it big and getting free records. Would appreciate if you shot it a follow (or comment on my pics because that makes it more visible). 33fortyfive is the handle.

I'm not sure what to be more pissed off at: that you have a good idea or that your handle is a blatant ripoff /s

Real talk it was a ripoff of you. I couldn’t think of anything that was available and still revolved around vinyl

I'm getting a new record setup when I move to Athens, because I don't wanna tear down the set up at my parents house. I got a beautiful Onkyo Receiver TX-SV7M for $20 yesterday and some solid speakers for $7, both at Goodwill. However, I still need to get a record player. I'm torn between the AT-LP120 and AT-LP60. I have the money for the LP120 but I'd have to dip into my savings a bit. Is the difference really worth the extra $$$, especially since I might be able to score the LP60 for $50 used? I'm not picky about adjustable counterweights or anti-skate or anything of the sort as I trust the LP60 is stuck to a reasonable setting.
I can't really find a reasonable comparison of the two online because most people are stuck up their own ass insisting there is a difference between the two without really providing proof. So, I thought inforoo would be the perfect place to find reasonable, level-headed answers.
Any help is good thx or any other reccs you guys have

They're both good tables and will give you some of the best value at those price points. In my mind the 120 is worth the price difference because of the weighted tone arm alone. It'll help you prevent skips and also won't tear up your records. I also like the idea of being able to digitize records with the usb connect but I've gotten along fine without it for years.
If you want to be able to tinker around with your settings and digitize your music you should go for the 120. If you just want to set it and forget it the 60 is great.
My advice would be to look on Ebay and in antique stores or record shops for a vintage Technics table. I got mine shipped for like $110 and it has all of the features of the 120 except for the usb port. I'm actually pretty sure there's a Technics SL-20 sitting at Highland Row antiques for like $75 right now. I noticed it when doing some Christmas shopping last week. You might give them a call and ask about it.
edit: I should clarify I have no idea how quick the 60 would degrade your records. I just know the weighted tone arm is a big feature for a lot of record collectors and have always accepted it as fact.

I had the LP-60 for many years and it worked great. The problem with the LP-60 is that is may be great or not be great... it’s hard to tell which ones are decent and which ones are damaging your records without you knowing it. I couldn’t really find any issues with the one I had, though...
I would probably recommend the LP-120 if it isn’t going to blow your budget too much. It gets fantastic reviews. I have the u-turn audio which is a great lower-cost player, too.

Doesnt the LP60 use a spring as opposed to a counterweight? Doesn’t it achieve the same thing since it puts the same pressure on? I’m keeping an eye out for stuff for sure but I do tread lightly when it comes to used stuff because it only takes one thing to be messed up for it to destroy records.
The USB features means nothing to me as I have a TTUSB already and even if I did want to use it with my LP60, I have the audio equipment to go from RCA to USB anyway just with a mixer.
e: I'm also not bothered about adjusting settings either. I enjoy messing around with new speakers and receivers more than the turntables themselves. Records being as delicate as they are don't allow me to learn hands on without risk of messing stuff up.

My concern is that the belt drive on the LP60 wouldn’t be as durable as the direct drive on a 120. Maybe that’s all in my mind but something to consider.

My understanding is that if your turntable does not have an adjustable tone arm, the arm will default to pressing down a little too hard in order to avoid skips and pops. Maybe the 60 has adjusted for that but I didn't see it mentioned in the features when I glanced at it.
Just for fun I searched for Technics turntables on Ebay. There's a lot of good looking options for around $100-$150 shipped. I would go with any of those over the 60 because you get all the nice features of the 120 at about half the price. This one in particular looks solid if you don't want to deal with a bidding war.

I went ahead and got the AT-LP60 for $50 right down the road from me. I figure at the very least if I don’t like it I could easily sell it for that price and get a different record player because of how good of a deal it was.
