I like pineapple on pizza, I'll eat the typical pineapple/ham combo, but I prefer it when there are also jalapenos or sriracha or something to add some heat. I think the key is that the pineapple needs to dry out a bit, so it can't be buried under the cheese where the moisture can't escape while it cooks.
If I am making a custom pizza that would include pinapple, it would be spicy grilled chicken (jerk, blackened, etc) with small pineapple chunks and sliced jalapenos.
What is your favorite National Park? What band/artist is at the top of your bucket list? If you were able to master one instrument, which would it be and why?
What is your favorite National Park? What band/artist is at the top of your bucket list? If you were able to master one instrument, which would it be and why?
favorite national park is a toughie. When I lived in knoxville I went to great smoky mountains pretty often, and it really is a fascinating place.
But I would probably say joshua tree. it s massive park with piles of giant rocks all over. good climbing and hiking, and just a vast expanse. great for star watching and feeling really small.
there are lots of artists that I haven't seen that I enjoy, but most of those are newer-ish and I just haven't gotten around to it. I guess the closest to a "bucket list" type band would be the rolling stones? I am really grateful that I got to catch of lot of the artists I really wanted to see (prince, tom petty, paul mccartney, neil young).
The piano. I took piano as a kid and gave it up for guitar and bass after a bit. I studied jazz bass all during high school, am pretty competent with music theory and can lay down a groove. I'm decent at the guitar; I won't play a solo that will melt your face or anything but I can keep up on the rhythm side. But I am absolutely terrible at piano. I bought one a couple years ago to play, and I can't for the life of me get beyond the basics. I would love to be able to sit down just hammer out some songs or melodies, but I just cannot.
If you had to drink one red bull a day, or smoke crack cocaine twice a year, which would you choose?
red bull, for sure. I am a caffeine addict who prefers strong black coffee. I like red bull too and often drink it when I need a fix but don't want a hot beverage (usually at fests, tailgating, etc). It is a bit expensive to drink every day and doesn't have the same je ne sais quoi as a nice cup o joe with the morning news.
I've never smoked crack though, so maybe I am really missing out.

I mean... there's gotta be a reason people go crazy for the stuff, right?
What musical artist do you hate for a dumb reason?
I don't know that I dislike any artists for dumb reasons. I try to be pretty objective in my judgements. I would say that I don't really like the cult of personality that surrounds some rappers, but for the most part that is pretty gargbage music anyway.
I don't mind occasional screams in my music, but I give up if it is just unrelenting/continuous/main form of vocal delivery. Like deafheaven, for example. I just can't get over the "singing." I will say I went to see meshuggah LN at bonnaroo though, and that was pretty cool, but I think it was because the guitars were so loud you couldn't really hear the screaming so much.
What is your opinion on separating the Art from the Artist? At what point, if any is the action of the artist too terrible to justify supporting their music?
What is your opinion on separating the Art from the Artist? At what point, if any is the action of the artist too terrible to justify supporting their music?
In general, I think that the work of any artist is informed by their life experiences, and therefore portrays at least some aspect of that artist as a person. Separating the two, I think, hinges a lot on the message and meaning of the work itself and the relation to the artist, as well as the nature of the degenerate behavior.
Take Louis CK for example; I loved Louis CK standup; I thought his FX show was sometimes a little too depressing and self-deprecating, but I generally respected him as a comedian. The revelations about his behavior completely change the way I view him though. I have no desire to rewatch his stuff, and looking back some of it is really disturbing to me in this new context. The art and the artist are too intertwined to be able to enjoy the art as its own entity.
My wife and I were watching Baby Driver the other day. We didn't really know what to expect, only that some friends were talking about it at a party and said it was worth seeing. As soon as Kevin Spacey's voice came over the speaker, my wife let out an audible groan and says "i hope he doesn't ruin this for me." Personally, he didn't, I enjoyed the movie and I was able to see Spacey as the character in the movie. I think, had we known he were in the movie, we'd have probably just picked something else. House of Cards, on the other hand, I could see being really uncomfortable to watch knowing the allegations against Spacey - a cunning, manipulative sociopath who likes to revel in his power over people.
I think though it is easier to separate the two sometimes. A perfect example, for me, is the beatles and john lennon. One of the first records I ever personally owned was Revolver and, I have very fond memories of family road trips and everyone singing along to I wanna hold Your Hand and 8 Days a Week and stuff. I was a little kid and only knew who john lennon was because I thought his little round glasses looked cool. I have a more than a couple books about the beatles, their songs, history, etc. and reading through them you realize that Lennon really was a total asshole. Learning he was an asshole though didn't take away the nostalgia and happiness that those beatles songs brought me as a child. I don't think Lennon is the hero he is made out to be, but I do think that later on in his life he acknowledged that he was shitty; he said that the reason he sang about peace and love was because he was trying to espouse those values rather than the ones he held as a younger man. In the song getting better he sort of directly acknowledges this; his art is taken from his real life: I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved/Man, I was mean but I'm changing my scene/And I'm doing the best that I can..." That's a rather confessional passage there; it doesn't excuse his behavior, but it doesn't hide it either. People will inherently do shizty things in their life to themselves or other people, and I think it is important how a person responds to their transgressions. Acknowledgement, accountability, remorse, an effort to change and improve are important.
That being said, human beings should always take precedence over art. The women who faced torment from Harvey Weinstein are more important than any art that came about - there should never be "open secrets." And some things are just beyond the pale; for example, I think Woody Allen and Roman Polanski should forever be pariahs.

Thought it was pretty funny how quickly Big Decisions pretty much disappeared from their setlists after being the first single from the album. Easily the worst/most boring song on The Waterfall

Had to look up how do you and vegetable because I have never listened to Pablo Honey. Massive Radiohead fan but just decided to never listen to Pablo Honey because it seems pointless.

This was extremely eloquent and well thought out, you are a great writer!
What’s the top item on your bucket list right now?
Probably Coachella. I've lived within driving distance for six years, but the timing has always been bad. Both my kids were born in the spring so that knocked out a couple years, and it's right at the end of the semester where I was preparing finals, grading papers and finalizing grades, etc.

I almost just listed Pablo honey as my answer, but I think there is some good stuff in there. But overall, your strategy isn't bad.

Its partially because it seems like a waste of time and partially just cuz I think it is funny to be a massive fan but to have only heard Creep from it.

i never queue up BBFCM when i'm hanging out listening to music. but at a show when that ridiculous insane riff starts and I realize what they are playing my adrenaline explodes out the back of my head and ass.
In animal anatomy, the mouth, also known as the oral cavity, buccal cavity, or in Latin cavum oris, is the opening through which many animals take in food and issue vocal sounds. It is also the cavity lying at the upper end of the alimentary canal, bounded on the outside by the lips and inside by the pharynx and containing in higher vertebrates the tongue and teeth. This cavity is also known as the buccal cavity, from the Latin bucca ("cheek").
Some animal phyla, including vertebrates, have a complete digestive system, with a mouth at one end and an anus at the other. Which end forms first in ontogeny is a criterion used to classify animals into protostome and deuterostome.
