Definitely not^. But theres no way to prove it, so whatever. Really it should be an advantage for us having a more mature team. Then again, Alicia Sacramone was the oldest, and clearly the worst.

Yeah, looked at objectively spectator sports in general do seem to often bring out the worst in people. But subjectively, they serve as an emotional release that can serve as a relatively harmless relief valve.

I've yet to watch the Olympics, regardless of sports, and think "Hey... this announcer is awesome!"
In fact, I often find myself putting TV on mute and listening to music while watching. It's pretty fun watching synchro diving while listening to Primus

Holy shit, gymnastics is by far the most stressful sport i've ever watched. Shawn Johnson should've gotten better scores on balance beam and uneven bars, but Nastia Liukin was pretty flawless.

It's cool that the American gymnasts beat the hell outta the chinese girl even tho the judges were on her side
I remember as the one chinese girl was about to go on the beam I exclaimed to the whole bar "If she busts her face open I'll buy a round for everyone!"
I am like the only person ever who has no desire to watch the Olympics. *shrug* Maybe if I tried I would like it? Its just so... tedious. There is much more suspense involved on Project Runway.
I'm glad there are still ways for journalism to uncover the truth even when powerful governments cover it up so well with their lies... but it also makes me think, why are we so hung up on a difference of two years when there are more important things to care about? Its just so talked about, all over the gossip blogs & around all the water coolers... everyone is so indignant, when there are tons of other things they could be indignant about that matter more in the long run. Like, oh, Tibet, among others.

Also, younger kids are naturally more flexible, making it an unfair playing field
they look like they are 10. it almost insulting they expect the world to buy that they are all of age. and a passport, issued by the govt, for the govt team, in the country that is hosting the Olympics, is all the evidence the olympic organizer need?

That's very true... though unfortch I think the unfair advantage is what people dwell on a lot more than the mistreatment of young athletes, and that's where I think people are losing sight of the big picture here...

Naturally they may be more flexible, but at an olympic level flexibility is not the issue. I'd say everyones just about equally flexible. I don't think its a matter of an advantage, but just dishonest cheating.

Agreed. You have to admit that any serious sport, if you do it intensely for an extended period of time, ruins your body. Those girls are only going to be able to do that for so long before their back/knees/hips get messed up and they can't do it any more. I mean, I can attest -- I have been dancing for somewhere around 15 years and I have bad knees/hips/back. Why would you want to promote that injury even further?
Even Liukin and Johnson said in their interview that they would love to go to the Olympics in 2012 but "it all depends on how their bodies hold up".

I stole that flexability thing from the announcer guys. I hadn't even thought of that because, like you said, they are all super flexible

You must be referring to this article. I thinks its good that the IOC has finally chosen to investigate the real age of He Kexin. I wish they would do it to all the gymnasts, though.

i must say the olympics are like a peacefull war..we are competing against one another to see who has the better people/civilization/race/whatever you want to call it. but instead of using guns we are using sports. granted with people like phelps who do extrordinary, majority of the time its america has 12 golds, russia with 9, china with 10. crazieness!
