not very likely that was ever going to happen anyways.
VERY likely. like i said, jack has lots of friends. if you thought he was gonna sit on stage playing a bunch of accoustic songs to close the fest, you are dreamin!

i dont think Jack was ever set to be the closer.
Wrong.
Here is the RELIX Blurb. Consider, for a minute, if Jack Johnson was never the closer, then why is it news that he has chosen to move his set? Answer: He was originally the closer.
Widespread Panic will now close out the 7th annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on Sunday, June 15. Perhaps the festival's longest standing veteran, Widespread Panic has performed on Bonnaroo's main stage in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2007. While Widespread Panic was on hiatus, keyboardist JoJo Hermann and drummer Todd Nance both performed at the festival in 2004. The group was brought on as one of the festival's marquee jam acts after the Allman Brother Band officially canceled its performance earlier this week. The group's powerful, two-set Bonnaroo performances are known both for their energy and varied special guests. Over the years the group has welcomed Steve Winwood, Herbie Hancock, Bob Weir, Warren Haynes, Robert Randolph, Luther and Cody Dickinson, Galactic's Stanton Moore, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Dottie Peoples and the People's Choice Choir to the stage while performing at Bonnaroo.
In addition, Jack Johnson has chosen to join his friends Pearl Jam on the main stage Saturday, June 14, stepping into the slot vacated by the Allman Brothers. Johnson will perform an extended set beginning at sunset, shortly before Pearl Jam close out the day's main stage festivities. Johnson is close friends with the Pearl Jam camp and jammed with Eddie Vedder at his Kokua Festival in April, 2007. Many fans also speculate that Johnson will join Pearl Jam onstage during their headlining set.

Whoa there smokey, whats with the 'tude? I never said my ASSUMPTION was set in stone. I just said that because he just didnt TO ME seem like a closer of the fest. (compared to years past)
But i thank you for calling me out and setting me straight, i sure was wrong and you even had the text of the article to prove me wrong! You italics and bold . . . . . . i feel special!!
Calm down. Its just Jack Johnson. I like him too, i have all his albums.

I don't believe its exactly fair to say he doesn't have enough "interesting" material to fill four hours. First off, who is to say what is interesting. Second, I, like many of the others, don't think he would simply be playing his same old JJ acoustic sets. He definitely has many friends there this year and would incorporate a lot of them into his set. Anyways, I'm not even a real big fan of JJ (besides his new album which I love), but saying that he couldn't headline isn't really fair. I think it would have been one hell of a show. At the same time, I'm kind of glad he's right before Pearl Jam because now I can just stick around for both shows and maybe get a little closer to PJ.

I prefer WSP, but its just the lesser of two evils. Les was the way bigger announcment for me. But with them putting JJ at a sunset set before PJ this has me thinking Kanye will be getting the same thing, but maybe a half hour later on perhaps sunday. I think this would be a perfect spot for him, and for all the WSP haters they could close out the fest with a rockin Kanye glow in the dark set.
JJ could have guested with PJ and still been a headliner. My vote is for JJ. I've been to enought Bonnaroos closed out by WSP.
My biggest problem: This just throws one more act into the mix for a potential conflict. WSP gets added in the middle of the day on Saturday? No skin off my back. JJ gets bumped down to Saturday evening, and now all the sudden I have to choose between him and someone else. LAME.

Sorry if it sounded like I had an attitude. This is the internet, and sometimes words carry meanings or feelings that are not originally meant to be conveyed by the speaker. Words can have attitude read into them, even when no attitude is intended on the part of the writer.
I apologize if I offended you, I was just saying that this basic assumption was inaccurate, based on the blurb about JJ from superfly/relix. I only italicized the article b/c that is proper grammatical form when quoting something. I only bolded the text to highlight the specific part I was talking about.
Again, I apologize, I did not mean to offend you. This is a bonnaroo message board, and we are all here for the same basic reason, b/c we love music. I understand this, and I choose my words wisely b/c this board, as far as I'm concerned, is filled with great people. I'm sorry if I did not choose wisely enough in this case.

Interesting that when I saw the poll results, it looked about tied. But then reading the responses, it seems many people who voted for WSP did so because now they can leave early or hang out at camp. So looks like Jack Johnson is more in the lead as a performer choice than the results indicate.
Personally, I know for a fact I won't like WSP, and had only assumed I wouldn't like JJ, so I guess he wins by a hair.
