Yes, I'm glad, I was disappointed when they weren't on the initial line up. I guess the what stage will be pretty empty on Sunday night (NOT). Can't believe all the hate for Panic. People were complaining with the changes in style for Bonnarro performers, then they bring in a proven succesful (jam band no less) headliner and the complaining continues. JJ was never guaranteed to be a headliner, he was just listed as a performer. I never thought of him as headliner material. I was going to leave before his set (if he did indeed headline Sunday), but now I'll be dancing into the night. I guess no one here was there for (or can remember) the 6/12/05 Panic show, including Bob Weir, Herbie Hancock, Luther and Cody Dickinson, Col. Bruce, Robert Randolph et al. I read in another post that Panic was "dated", hell they are newbies compared to the Allman Bros. I'm in my 50s and had the first Allman Bros. album when it was a new release, to me they are just a nostalgia act now. I still buy there new release CDs (about one every 10 years), but their live CDs are mostly just a rehash of 30-40 year old stuff. Many people have never forgiven Gregg for testifying against Scooter Herring in 1976.

I saw them last year at 'roo and really enjoyed the show. I thought it was a great way to wrap up the weekend, very cool, mellow, lots of dancing, happy people.
Not being a huge jam band fan, I'm quite disappointed, after I let myself buy into all the hype. I have definitely had a couple moments last night and this morning where I thought, hmm, would I have a better time at another festival with bigger & better names?
But the thing is, I would have never thought that before this whole "big announcement" letdown. I was happy with this year's lineup and really excited to go back to the farm, and I still am. Yeah, I'm bummed we lost the Allmans... majorly. But I am still excited about a bunch of other acts that are going to be at Roo, and I can't wait for the great time I'm gonna have!! So I am just gonna pretend this whole thing never happened, and get excited again.
And of course I am happy for big WSP and Claypool fans. I feel like there's gonna be something for everyone this year, even if we don't get someone mega legendary like the other fests.

methinks there is a reason your karma is -6
yea apparently nobody who writes on here has a sense of humor.

sense of humor is one thing when you use an emoticon or something to indicate that you are joking around - rememebr - we can't see your face - so we don't know if it is a joke ot not, KWIM?
yea i get what ur saying. i thought Aqua was a ridiculous enough suggestion that people would know not to take it seriously. my bad meggers.
LMAO - or I am stupid enough to have actually gone and looked - LOL (hanging my head in shame admitting that - but after the announcement - I would not be surprised by anything Superfly did at this point)
agreed, people are bashing wsp, but this is easily one of the biggest additions that bonnaroo has ever seen.
Bigger than any one of Radiohead, Tool, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, The White Stripes, The Flaming Lips, Kanye West, Dave Matthews Band, Bob Dylan, Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, Bright Eyes, The Decemberists, Allman Brothers Band, The Dead, Phil and Friends, Weir and Ratdog, Willie Nelson, BB King, Drive-by Truckers, The Sonic Youth, or Beck?
Especially considering they've been there every year except for a couple?
Everyone talking about the disappointment? It's your fault, honestly. They just said "big," and they said "exciting." Nobody at Superfly said "hey, you guys should go over these clues on your message board for two or three days, and apply the clues to huge bands you really want to see." Nobody said "big announcement on Thursday to compete with Prince."
Yea, except WSP isn't a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. Look, in a vacuum, of course I'd be happy to see them added; however, after having them hype up the announcement in all cap letters twice in the press release, the fact that it's Widespread (a band that will now be at roo 5/7 years I must emphasize) is almost a joke. Default would have been a much better adjective than "BIG."

I mean, I guess you can consider it a "big announcement" because they announced another headliner after the initial lineup came out.
I mean no offense to the jamband people, but I'm just not a big jam fan and I really don't like Widespread Panic much...but I can understand why lots of people *would* think it's a big announcement.
I think we got our hopes up a little too much...I totally called it...but c'est la vie. I'm excited about Claypool.

I think he meant additions added after the additional lineup announcement. The biggest additions I can think of are Winwood (04), Crowes (05) and Oysterhead (06).
PS I like how you slid the Drive-by Truckers in that list
i'm really glad it's panic. i will now sell my rothbury tix, and get bonnaroo tix and save some money on gas by not having to drive so far. thanks super fly!

Ah yes, that is a good point, and thanks haha but Drive-by Truckers actually have two records that have done better than any single WSP album in the charts, so I don't think it's at all on questionable justification.

Whether you like the bands or not.. You have more than 3 headliners this year. easy. On top of that an incredibly deep lineup. Don't get me wrong I love the allmans.. just as much as anyone else.. I just don't see how you can LIKE the allmans and dislike wsp. This is going to be by far the most diverse and largest bonnaroo to date.
Yeah I'll trade a roo ticket for a rothbury ticket for sure.
Bonnaroo 2009 Leaked Lineup
4 Headliners in 2009
Thursday 1 member of WSP will play solo on each of the six stages for 4 hours then WSP - 3 sets on the mainstage
Friday Fallout Boy, My Chemical Romance, Nickelback (WSP Latenight)
Saturday Morbid Angel, Satyricon, WSP, followed by a WSP mardi gras parade through the campsites and a latenight WSP show featuring Robert Randolph standing on his pedal steel guitar...AGAIN
Sunday (HUGE DAY) Artists like: Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Mick & Keith, Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, The Who, Robert Plant, Steve Winwood, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, The members of Pink Floyd, Ray Manzarek, The Cure, and Kanye West.... all have spoken word sets from various tents and stages giving testimonies as to why they love WSP so much. Followed directly by a huge WSP show where they let none of the guests sit in except Robert Randolph who of course stands on his pedal steel guitar.....AGAIN, and possibly lights it on fire.
Then they stamp us all with WSP brands on our foreheads and we go home real fast in hopes that livebonnaroo.com has it available to download already.

From my observations only a very small portion of those with gripes have been expressing dislike for WSP, it's just they either like Allmans' more or were expecting something big or both.
