State Radio has listed 2:315 pm thursday on their site. Vampire weekend also has listed thursday at 1 pm. I really hope we get this. If its the case it would make Bonnaroo the festival of the year in my opinion because its the only one with 4 full days. This will probably be a big part of the big annoucement on thursday.
i think this will be the announcement too. I think they'll anounce thurs as a full day and then also announce the headliner.... and also, that may be why they are giving us the BIG NEWS on a Thurs

My guess: full day Thursday, closing w/ Jack Johnson at night, then announcing the Real Sunday Night Headliner and maybe another solid couple of band additions to live up to the hype they created

it would certainly be the best annoucement we have gotten in years because I have been attending bonnaroo all six years and every year i want more and i AC Superfly has had to have thrown the idea around alot in the management circles. I also think it would be very strategic in the sense of staying on top as the dominant festival. If it is the case I want to see some major competition and have other festivals add a 4th day to their festivals because only good things would come from it which is obviously more music and one more night of great Midnight shows.

I would love a full day thursday but at the same time how would they do that? I mean they would have to let people in early, wouldn't they? I would be kinda upset if a band I really wanted to see started before I even got in the gates and had my tent set up
I don't know if its been like this in the past. But I'm volunteeing and they want volunteers to check in by Wednesday. I thought that was weird to have it on Wednesday and not like Thursday morning/afternoon.

Very gooing point mmusins...I was about to point that out. Why would they want volunteers there Wednesday if there was nothing to do until Thursday...?

if they have thursday as a full day of music they are more likely going to have to change the gate times and open the gates up on wednesday. I volunteered the last 2 years. They started letting the cars come into the site around 7 pm wednesday night. So even if they say 8 am thursday thats not the case because they want to get the cars in fast as possible and not cause them huge traffic jams on the side of the highway. Volunteers for during festival checked in on wednesday of last year so that hasn't changed for this year.

4 full days is more important than more additions that will become conflicts with other bands I want to see. 4 days means 16 hours of more music that I didn't get before.

Yeah but would it be wise for them to wait so long to make an announcment like this? I mean people have already bought plane tickets and taken off work and made arrangements...I would think they would have announced this at the beginning

yes the travel arrangements brings up an interesting points. i can easily adjust my schedule but im sure there are many people who go who would have had to given their notice of days off a long time ago

Roo dates are 12th-15th... 4 days... nobody said what time it starts...
they've been starting music earlier and earlier. It's possible.

adding a full day on thurs would push everything else back a day
they probably want volunteers there by wed so they don't get caught in the traffic mess and i'm sure there are plenty of things for the volunteers to do on wed
i think they said pre-festival volunteering ran from sun-wed
Quick question. I can't remember, in year's past, have they listed the festival as 3 days or 4? If this was the first year where Thursday was actually included in the dates, then you may have your winner.

They aren't ever going to make Thursday a full day of music. There are entirely too many logistical issues. First of all, there are many people that don't arrive until late Thursday/Friday morning. In order to make Thursday a full day, they would have to start letting everyone in Wednesday afternoon. Of they expanded Thursday to a full day, they would have to work through the night to accommodate everyone arriving before Thursday afternoon. This would frustrate a lot of people who already have plans revolving around a Thursday arrival time, especially people who have work obligations, and can only take so many days off. Additionally, part of the reason they don't use the big stages on Thursday is due to noise issues in Manchester. Thursday is a weeknight, and they don't want to cause too much noise. Besides, announcing Thursday as a full day would never be predicated by "Big Announcement". First time Bonnaroo goers would be going, "So What? Thursday is already listed as a day of the festival." It would be terribly anticlimactic for those not as Bonnaroo obsessed as us.
State Radio has listed 2:315 pm thursday on their site.
From their website:
State Radio performs at The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in June 2008! Dates of the festival are the 12th-15th. State Radio's specific performance time is ***Friday, June 13th @ 2:00 - 3:15 PM at Tent #3, "The Other Stage."***
So this should not be used as evidence of a Thursday.

Thursday was listed as a festival day last year, even though they didn't have a full day of music.

Yeah, this would kinda annoy me and those I am with very much... could've EASILY arranged to arrive accordingly with plenty of time to get inside and set up, but now, we've got non-changable plane tix, landing Thurs around 10:30... and by the time we get there, wait in line and get past the gates...
Whatever ... either way, still gonna be the rockin'est weekend of the Summer

Exactly. I think this announcement would piss of just as many people as it would make happy.
