Personally, I saw Manu this year on a whim, and it turned out to be my favorite set of the whole weekend....if he came back, I'd skip almost anyone to see him again.
Top 5 live show in the world right now without doubt, so yes...yes, I'd like to finally get to see Manu Chao as I've somehow been denied the past couple years...
He was one of the artists I wanted to check out... dunno what happened, but missed him. I've heard great things about his shows and his music is alright by me, so sure why not.
Edit: just looked at last year's schedule... I was rockin out to the Roots, so that makes sense why I missed his show.
How's about just a regular "no" option? I personally don't care for his stuff and feel he's overrated.
Wow. Respect rating just went waaaaay down. That's like not liking Jesus.
But seriously, have you seen him live and/or listened extensively to his discography (his work with Mano Negra)? Or even his work with Amadou & Mariam?
I mean, I can see not liking his work, but it's hard to call a guy whose that influential worldwide overrated...

I'm certainly not denying his influence; you can't deny a fact. And much of what he's influenced I enjoy, such as A&M's "Dimanche a Bamako" album. And I'll also concede that I only listened to one of his albums, "Radio Bemba Sound System". I really expected to like him, given said fame and acclaim and influence. But that album struck me as surprisingly muddled. And as a matter of personal taste, I generally try to avoid any kind of strongly political music. There are few exceptions to that. But that said, I'm always willing to give someone another chance. Why don't you recommend something to me?
I also have to say that this is the second time in less than a week that I've been smitten for simply stating my opinion on a musical artist. I don't think it was you, dudezer, but rather someone who wouldn't care to engage in a friendly discussion. It just goes to show that some people around here need to GROW THE HELL UP. To the smiter: not everyone will always feel the way you do, and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you'll be able to function in modern society. Also, by smiting me do you really think you're casting the artist you like in a better light? Like I said, grow the hell up.

karma. I wish I could direct you in the direction of Manu Chao samples, but I don't know much about his albums either... however as is the case with a lot of bands I think listening to them live would be a great way for them to warm up to you. See if you can find some live recordings somewhere. If I come across any I can send them your way as well.

Well, "Radio Bemba Sound System" is a live album, so that's all I've heard. But yeah, I'm still willing to give other stuff of his a try! And thanks for the understanding about the smiting. I'm glad the majority of people here are kind and levelheaded, otherwise this place would be unbearable.

His studio albums sound totally different from his live show. But chances are, if you don't like Radio Bemba Sound System, you wouldn't dig him that much live.
That said, his studio work is absolutely and completely different from the stage product.
