Seriously, look at all the artists rumoured or comfirmed to be releasing albums this year.
Animal Collective Arcade Fire Big Boi Block Party Built to Spil PJ Harvey Interpol Low Madvillain MF Doom & Ghostface Modest Mouse New Pornographers NIN The Pixies QOTSA Radiohead Sigur Ros Spoon Super Furry Animals Wilco Wolf Parade Wu-Tang Clan
I'm sure some of those groups don't mean much to some of you, and I'm sure there are some I left off that you can't wait to hear, but for me that list is ridiculously good.
Looking forward to new releases by Keller, Umphreys, and Ween. I haven't listend NIN in years so I'd be interested to hear what Trent is up to these days. Also want to pick up moe.'s new album.
The Shins, The Good, the Bad & the Queen, Air, Son Volt, Kings of Leon, the Stooges, Bright Eyes, Mando Diao, Band of Horses, Blur, Iron & Wine, Rilo Kiley, Smashing Pumpkins, Spiritualized, Stereophonics, Travis, U2....

I'm excited about the new Interpol. Turn on the bright lights was a masterpiece. Antics was pretty good. This could be the album to make or break them.

I realize I'm in the minority, but...
Antics >>>>> Turn On the Bright Lights
God though, I haven't listened to either in ages. I just remember listening to Antics over, and over, and over, and over again. The thing was the ideal length, perfectly tracked, and just....really good.
Don't get me wrong, I love Antics, but TOTBL was a masterpiece in my opinion. Screw all of the "Joy Division rip off" comments. Bright Lights was something we hadn't seen before.

Damn, I forgot I made this thread!
Something I didn't put on there cause it had just come out, Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity. There's some really good stuff on there.
And I'd have to side with the TOTBL camp. Antics takes less of an investment and translates very well live, but it didn't have quite the staying power as their first one for me.

Yeah 2007 is killing 2006 so far. Andrew Bird, Ted Leo, Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Deerhoof, Menomena, Modest Mouse, El-P -- I've heard albums from all of these artists and they are all pretty impressive.

Big up for the Deerhoof. Friend Opportunity is a great album. Got to catch them in NYC a few months back. Satomi is the sweetest thing you'll ever meet in your life.
There have also been rumors of a new Primus album released later this year/early next year. The Mars Volta will be releasing another disc this summer. There was also some talk a while back about the FLips having some leftover "more trippy" music from the AWWTM sessions. There was talk about releasing that. And one of my favorite new bands will be relasing their sophmore disc this year "Islands". Got to catch them last year too. Great show.
A few months ago 2007 didnt look hopeful, now its shaping up to be great. Anybody hear about "Chinese Democracy" being pushed back another month. I hope every GnR fan just downloads the album when its released.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
Yeah so far this year I've been completely bombarded with music, which is usually the case but it seems to be increasing exponentially. It's usually a rotation of the new Andrew Bird, Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, and Kings of Leon with a little Menomena and Deerhunter mixed in. That's pretty much the gist of my musical listenings thus far this year.

Dungen's new album drops May 1st. This will be one of the 3 albums I let me self listen to prior to release. So far its better then anything else I have heard this year and maybe last. Gustav plays everything on the album yet again, only 1 song where the whole band plays. This guy is really amazing.

Which one^? I think they're all pretty good, nothing special. I think survivalism is pretty sweet. From what i read about it its an album you have to listen to in one sitting.

I've heard only good things about the album so far. I haven't listened to any of the singles yet, cause I just want to hear the whole thing. Damnit. Why hasn't it leaked yet? I check everyday, and no dice. Being patient sucks.
So much great music in '07... this year may be remembered as historic from a music perspective (sort of like 1967). In addition to the dozens of great artists/releases already mentioned: Kristin Hersh released her best solo album to date, the perfectly-twisted-titled-for-the-times 'Learn to Sing Like a Star'; and The Broken West have a solid release with 'I Can't Go On, I'll Go On'
