What album that you, forgot about/ haven't listened to in sometime, did you rediscover this year? I had this discussion with some guys at work, and it turned out pretty interesting..
Mine was Pink Floyd "Animals" After seeing Roger Waters, I went on a Floyd binge, and forgot just how amazing this record was.

Possible the best liner notes ever, the whole things is described like a prescription pill, very funny. Great album I haven't pulled out in a year or so.
animals - such an awesome album. reminds me of college (not because i'm old enough to have listened to it when it came out mind you).
rediscovery - hmm. im trying to think of a good example of that. Maybe some older Tori Amos that I can't seem to muster the strength to bypass when it comes up on my ipod...
id say pearl jam too - but i didnt like them when they first came out.
I remember my folks playing it when I was a kid so I picked up the vinyl at a flea market a month or so ago and I really didn't realize just how good the album is.

How do i put a picture in? I went and found the CD covers and everything, but i'm not talented enough to put them in here... i see the image button, but then what do i do after i click it and it says "[/img]" sorry, i suck
anyway, my two recently rediscovered favs are Hooray for Boobies! ~ Bloodhound Gang and August and Everything After ~ Counting Crows

No idea how to put the cover art in either, but I just rediscovered the first Blues Traveler CD and remembered why I fell in love with that band at the time.
And definitely the older Tori Amos stuff, that stuff pretty much stays in my playlists.

I never really forget about albums, but I did recently listen to this gem again, and I had forgotten what a powerhouse of an album it truly is.
...And for y'all who are having trouble putting in images, after you hit the 'insert image' button and have your code, find a copy of the album cover online, like at amazon, copy the url for the image itself, and paste it between the two bracketed parts of the code. I'd show what that looks like, but for some reason it's not appearing in my post. Hope that makes sense.
One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain. So hit me with music. Hit me with music, now, yeah. Hit me with music. Brutalize me with music.

severely underrated album. 23 minutes of Echoes, and Fearless. Fearless is the jam. San Tropez is said to be "out of place" but i beleive to be a perfect fit. San Tropez is a song i would love to hear someone cover at Bonnaroo, it is such a jazzy lil' ditty.

I totally agree with you there, that is actually my favorite Floyd album, Dark Side, The Wall, Wish You Were Here, all great albums, but I will take Meddle anyday. One Of These Days is one of the greatest opening tracks in the history of music. really sets the tone for that album. Echoes is just a 23 minute orgasm, and the songs in between fit very well (i agree). Great album to sit down with on any day and just mellow out for a while. Great rediscovery!

I would have to go with: 1. Meddle (Pink Floyd’s soulful, psychedelic masterpiece.) 2. Dark Side of the Moon (Exemplifies studio wizardry while changing the band forever – for better or worse.) 3. Obscured by Clouds (Stoned, often overlooked, this album showcases what Floyd can do when given total creative license, and still manage to have fun.) 4. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (The whimsical, but intense album that started it all.) 5. Wish You Were Here (Solidly presenting their new direction and Waters’ growing fascination with himself. Still beautiful and artful.) 6. Animals (Aggressive, dominated by Waters. Not the same band anymore but a great pre-punkish album.) 7. The Wall (There is a lot in the studio version that was left out, a few good tracks, fucked up movie!!!) 8. Atom Heart Mother (Solid Album, a little weak in the middle but the start and end track are entertaining.) 9. Saucerful of Secrets (Changing of the guard with great playing by both Barrett and Gilmore.) 10. More (Good Potential but a little weak in songwriting.) 11. Ummagumma (A dreadful double album featuring a dull live performance and terrible solo tracks.) 12. Division Bell (An OK follow-up to Momentary Lapse.) 13. Momentary Lapse of Reason (Lacks Waters lyrical qualities. Not bad musically, a couple good ones on there.) 14. The Final Cut (Can you say Roger Waters solo effort, end to a great band.)
I saw Zappa plays Zappa last fall. Napolean Murphy Brock sang most of Frank's parts. Steve Vai & Terry Bozio. One of the most awesome experiences ever. I'd love Adrian Belew at 'roo. Hey, that rhymes!

I think i was mixing some of their stuff up with The Shins, because i forgot how good this was. I wasnt really planning on checking them out before, but now i hope theres no one sweet against them, cus i'd like to catch their show. I also like this album because it sounds like its about a year ahead of everyone else. A lot of bands took up this sound with their 2006 albums, but this was released in 05'.

THIS ALBUM IS AWESMOE!!! KARMA FOR THIS!!! This also happens to be one of my favorite somkin LPs.
I recently pulled out my DJ Shadow Preemptive Strike double LP. I was lucky enough to pick this up a few years back at a small used game and cd store, they had a few records and they didn't know anything about them. A whopping $8 for a copy in perfect condition. This place also had a Beatles butcher album for $5. I looked at it, sqaid creepy cover and moved on, someone traded in about 100 Beatles records. A few months later I found out it was worth several thousand dollars.
The most underrated and important album of all time without a doubt is this one.
Released in '69, this album blew the top off R&B and opened up the way for guys like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye to take control of their careers as well. With three of the four songs on the album clocking in around 10 minutes or more, Hayes gave his songs the space to build, burn and boil over the top. I picked the album up a few years back when I was on a soul kick and had sort of forgotten about it until I put it on a few weeks back. It's no small thing to say this is probably one of the 2 or 3 best soul albums I've ever heard, if not the best.

Let's see. The latest album that I rediscovered the wondrousness of was......
It seems as though whenever an artist did the BBC sessions thing, they came up with some of the best music they ever rec orded. On the Beatles BBC sessions album, they cover the Stooges. WHere else can you get that?

Creams BBC Sessions is also classic if no one heard it you gotta pick it up...got some earlier stuff and some good covers as well (interviews are annoying on it but you get used to it)
