You mean I have to wait more than 2 days to watch every single show presented at Bonnaroo?!?!? Jeez, let's speed it up folks... It's not like I have the time to wait a week.
Anyone else out there a veteran of tape trading? The old days, of Maxell XL-IIs, where you had to wait two weeks following a show before posting a request for it on message boards? Sometimes I miss those days, people in the digital age have no patience.
yes, i've been there. I still have over 1,000 maxell XL2s in a box stored at the office. After that was CDs, and I have twice as many. But be honest, you are being generous, two weeks was fast back in the day. Sh*t, I was a month out on those dead tours and phish tours before I started seeing the first shows of the tour.
The digital age has brought about a wealth of free and easily accessible music, but those who never experienced the snail mail days of tape trading don't really realize how good they have it. Admittedly I have helped spoil this board by ss'ing a wealth of bonnaroo music last year, and pre-bonnaroo music this year, and I intend to do the same for this Bonnaroo. As a former trader, I still get gratitude from spreading the music to others, and feel it is imperative to the survival of the live music trading scene, for those such as myself to recognize that giving is actually sometimes better than receiving.
So yes, I agree with where you are coming from, and I say right on, brother. Downloaders, please be patient with what you are given, give back whenever you can, and let kindness and compassion prevail above all when seeking that which you want. These principles are the roots of the music trading scene, and with these principes in mind will it live on well into and past the digital age.
