TICKETS ON SALE NOW
Following the success of the second annual PAID DUES festival in Southern California this past March, promoters MURS 3:16 in association with Guerilla Union (Rock The Bells, Cypress Hill Smoke Out) have announced they will tour the event across the U.S. this summer. A popular staple for music enthusiasts on the west coast, PAID DUES will now have the opportunity to broaden the fan base of a vibrant scene of underground hip-hop artists all on one platform.
Confirmed on the PAID DUES line-up are FELT (MURS [Living Legends] w/ Slug & Ant [Atmosphere]), LIVING LEGENDS, SAGE FRANCIS, BROTHER ALI, CAGE, MR. LIF, GROUCH & ELIGH, HANGAR 18, BLUEPRINT and LUCKY I AM, all of whom have performed on the PAID DUES stage over the last two years. Special guests will join on selected dates.
"The national touring of PAID DUES is a dream come true. It’s what I had in mind when I first brought the idea to Guerilla Union--something like a Warped tour for underground hip-hop, where my friends and I could be outside in the daylight enjoying summer with our fans instead of cramped up in some dark smelly nightclub worried about staying up too late and being too tired for work the next morning,” states MURS. “It also provides a safe and comfortable environment in which the younger fans can be introduced to a proper live hip-hop show."
"PAID DUES represents a rare opportunity for these artists to showcase the strength of independent hip-hop,” adds Chang Weisberg of Guerilla Union. “These artists have made their careers with live performances. Murs has really gone out of his way to build a platform for his peers and Guerilla Union has been fortunate to work with him and all the artists, labels, and media partners to create a live experience that is as vital as it is unique. All the fans who show up to our shows have been so receptive that Murs would have given up his left kidney to get this tour off the ground. The thing about PAID DUES that makes it so special is that most of these artists will watch the show with their fans, sign every autograph, and take pictures with every fan. The DIY spirit and passion with this group of artists is undeniable. I'm grateful for the chance to work with them."
PAID DUES will hit over 10 major markets across the country beginning July 24 in Chicago. Other cities included: Baltimore, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Santa Fe, Tempe and San Diego. It will pass through various sized venues ranging from 1,000 to 40,000 capacities. In New York (July 28 & 29) and Los Angeles (August 11), PAID DUES will merge with the Rock The Bells festivals featuring headliners Rage Against The Machine and the Wu-Tang Clan.
