Just got back from the bar w/ the some friends (had to call it an early nite b/c I gotta save money for the good ole bonnaroo....I spent 20 bucks in like 45mins, what the hell Nashville lets lower our beer prices!!). Anyway I'm defintely going now we just need to book a hotel now I guess in order to get a good one.......what do ya suggest?? None of the people going with me have to been to alabama and most of are from up north.....this outta be fun!!
Do you want convenience or cheep? Or a good combo? The Embassy Suites is right there in Big Spring Park and within walking distance to everything and it's the nicest. There is also a Holiday Inn Select on the edge of Big Spring Park that is within walking distance that is decent but still probably fairly pricey. If you want the best hotel for the best price I would prob recommend the Hampton Inn on Madison Blvd in Madison, but it's a good 15 min drive from the Park. But they have parking in lots around town with shuttles to and from the park. So it isn't that much of a hassle to drive in.....I'll check out some other hotels a little closer in too....
Just looked at the Embassy Suites I think thats sounds like what we want esspecially if you just gotta walk to fest and not drive. Although I'm not going to go for the romantic package w/ spa's for him and her.....We'd get kicked the hell out of the state if they were to see 4 dudes book into that one!!
haha.... OUR ROMANCE PACKAGE INCLUDES 2 ROOM SUITE, 1 DOZEN ROSES,CHA MPAGNE AND CHOCOLATE, TURNDOWN SERVICE AND LATECHECKOUT (WHE N AVAILABLE).
Why would you goto huntsville for a place like this (no offense).Guess I'm just not used to fancy hotels!!!!!!
Yeah, the Embassy is the best place for just waking up, rolling out and walking to the fest....right outside the windows! Most of the artists will be staying there I am sure....
As for your other quest? Don't ask me dude, I just live here! I go elsewhere to have my fun for sure! ;D
Champagne is disgusting....ahhh the only time i drink that crap is the new years eve and even then its just the one glass at midnite. I rather drink a gallon of east alabama moonshine that nasty ass stuff.
I know many a thing about East Alabama. My mom is from the Opelika (I have no idea how to spell it and can barely pronounce it) area. East Alabam moonshine aint shit!!! Now while they maybe close in proximity, they are nowhere close in taste with good ole Western Georgia moonshine. There aint no lead in it and 2 swigs of it and you're crawling like infant! Its just as good as the stuff you get in North Ga.

Pretty good job on Opelika! For a GA boy anyhoos! Can't believe mum didn't send ya to AU tho....being a home girl and all (War DAMN Eagle!) tsk....
How dare you suggest I attend Auburn!!! Thems fighting words. My mom actually grew up a Crimson tide fan (wierd i know). But by the grace of god I was raised a Georgia fan.Although I have alot of friends who goto Auburn and they'll be at roo w/ me......we always get in fights (not physical) around football season. This reminds of the voicemail i got from one of the guys in Auburn about roo a few days ago, he said....."I'll see your georgia punk ass at the puke tent, cracker"

LOL! I think I'm liking him already.... You can bring him to the brunch... I was actually raised a Tide fan....lol! I was the traitor in the family till my bro followed my footsteps to the Plains...ha!
What brunch are you talking about?? And what the hell is up w/ Auburn's mascots.......the plainsmen, war eagle, tigers.......make up your minds. Hell half the damn school is that big ass Vet thing yall got out there. I can honestly say Auburn is the only place on earth I have been to and seriously thought a woman was going to kill me. She was scary as shit and had a tire iron and all i did was wear a georgia shirt (It was the year auburn went undefeated, but still couldnt win the damn national championship!!).

THIS brunch: bonnaroo.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=logistics&action=display&thread=1173399895 And AU is so special we need a bazillion mascots, one just doesn't do justice to our mahvalous school! Ya'll are just jealous you can't come up with more than UGA! I won't say there aren't scary women at AU...I've run into a few of those myself (specially round wire roadish...and round the Supper Club area...yeesh! I don't think they even clean that place, just stick a new coat a paint on it every couple of years!) But it wouldn't have mattered WHICH SEC team went undefeated that year....none of them would have won the National Championship and YOU know it! She just wanted to kick your butt for the fun of it! Hee!
It was you wasn't it!! Ah wire road....my friends lived in a trailer park off of wire road one year. And one of them lived in one of those tiny duplexes so I have many a drunken story about walking up and down that road.

Hmmm, might have been me...I lived in Gentilly....nah, tire irons aren't my style... Now baseball bats....maybe....lol You sure do seem to have spent a fair amount of time down there for someone who hates the place...lol! I've been to Athens a few times (for games) but don't know my way around that well....

Don't let me interrupt you two, but I have something in common with each of you. bamabelle, I live in Huntsville (I tried to signup as "bamablues," but it was already taken). Chris, I went to grad school at UGA and absolutely love Athens. I used to see Widespread play every Tuesday night at the Underground, and was friends with REM's lawyer, so he would tip us off when Stipe and Pete Buck would be playing at the 40 Watt under assumed names. Wheel of Cheese was one of 'em, I remember. It's been a long time. Yeah, I have a lot of vinyl, no Styx or country though. Dude, you totally have the wrong idea about Huntsville. bamabelle gets it. Damn engineers and their OCD and terrible senses of humor (more like lack thereof).
I grew up a Bama fan (Roll Tide) and still am, though I'm hardly rabid like most peeps here.
LOL! We don't have lock on the thread...it's just no one else hangs here so we tend to take over Jump on in....
You ought to volunteer for the jam this year, it's a lot of fun. You get in for free (and get to park in the big spring parking garage for free too, that's really sweet!) Only a 2 hour shift and the rest of the day you get to jam! Sign up should start next month through the Volunteer Center....I can send you the person to conatct if you like.

Well when I lived in Georgia (just moved to Nashville a couple months ago) I lived about an hour away from Auburn and about 2.5 hours from Athens. And some of my best friends in high school went to Auburn (its easier to get into than UGA if you're applying from w/in State).I don't really know my way around that well just Wire Rd, around the stadium, and the Sigma nu house (I'm not a frat boy but alot of my friends are).
And alabamablues.....I ran into mike mills at one of the MMJ shows at the 40watt earlier this year. I'm not from athens so seeing someone from REM was cool as hell to me, but everyone I was with said it aint nothing that rare. And speaking of seeing WSP years ago its wierd how they went from playing nothing but frat houses to becoming a huge jamband that has hippies following them left and right. And I'm not hating on the fine folks of hunstville, I'm sure its an okay town, its just that the people I met and talked to at the one big spring jam I went to.....well they were interesting to say the least. Besides I think the most redneck city in Alabama isnt huntsville its a tiny town called Valley, Al....well the most redneck of all the ones I've been to at least.
I know where Valley is.....went through there a couple of times when I was at AU....yeah, it's pretty bad....not as bad as Lafayette though.... (pronounced La-FAY-ette) ....really sad....lol... Sigma nu....yeah went to a few parties there....one good thing about AU, as opposed to Bama, since it was majority non-greek, most of the parties were open parties....
Oh I've been through Lafayette....my favorite wierd ass named town is Cusseta, you ever been through there? I've never been but I always see the signs on I-85.
Whats the best way up to Roo if you're coming up from Auburn? My friends are idiots and they cant use a map. I would google it but I figured an auburn chick would know more.

And you admitted it....*sniff* I'm touched....
LOL....The EASIEST way (if they truly are idiots) would be for them to come 431 all the way up. Then 431 joins with 231....keep on that.....follow 431/231 (which is Memorial Parkway through Huntsville) Merge onto US-231 N / US-431 N via the ramp on the LEFT (Crossing into TENNESSEE). 28.1 miles Map
7: Turn RIGHT onto US-231 N / THORNTON TAYLOR PKWY / TN-10 N. 1.6 miles Map
8: Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto US-64 / DAVID CROCKETT HWY / TN-15 / TN-50. 1.4 miles Map
9: Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto TN-50. 11.3 miles Map
10: Stay STRAIGHT to go onto FAYETTEVILLE HWY / TN-55. Continue to follow TN-55. 13.7 miles Map
11: Turn RIGHT onto N JACKSON ST / US-41 ALT / TN-130 / TN-16 / TN-55. 0.9 miles Map
12: Turn LEFT onto TN-55 E / E CARROLL ST. Continue to follow TN-55 E. Follow 55 over I-24.....to Ragsdale Rd....turn Right from Ragsdale Rd onto Bushy Branch Rd....follow signs to site.
If they are the slightest bit adventurous they could try the quicker route I used to take......280 to 77 to 431.....it's a bit quicker but takes a little more skill to negotiate.....
You just mapquested it.....cheater, I wanted pure memory not copy and paste!!Any UGA woman could of done that, hell even those gator fans coulda managed that! Then again a woman is driving up so they'll probably take the easiest....hell i have no room to talk, I'm terrible w/ directions.
Thanks, I'll pass along the info and hopefully they'll get there by by saturday nite.
