I don't think there's one band on 10k's lineup that isn't known for doing a little jamming. They did a good job of bookin the jammers this year, that's for sure. I wouldn't really consider Bonnaroo a jamband festival at all anymore, they lost that title somewhere around 2003 to 2004....

It's 10K by a mile. They have the best lineup of any jam-fest and the festival grounds are unreal. Oh yeah they also have free ice-cold drinking water that is crystal clear and tastes great unlike the brown sulfur water at Roo. I'm trying to get the funds together and find a ride after I saw they are giving Umph the headline.
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we wont, and we're slowly learning that fact & we're very, very pissed off......."

Jam bands for lack of a better term, are definitely my favorite style of music, Bonnaroo is my must see festival every year, but I would not consider Bonnaroo a jam band fest, there has always been jam bands, but there has always been many other styles as well. I would say either 10k or All Good is the premiere Jam-Mostly fest.
Langerado. Time of year, location, smallness, diversity of acts. It's heavily centered around jambands, but instead of padding the list with Trampled by Turtles and Wookiefoot like 10K does, they bring in acts like Malkmus, or My Morning Jacket, or Wilco, or Flaming Lips or Secret Machines instead. But the crux of the lineup is jamcentric and the late nights are heavily jambands.

For the jamband folk I definitly reccomend the Fat Fest thing I've linked to on this forum. It has alot of the great Midwest acts you can see at 10klf if you're traveling here along with the likes of EOTO & Big Wu at the top. ALOT cheaper than 10k, too.
I've never been to the place but the locale looks really nice/fun from their website.
id say just based on latenights id take 10klf. and the set lengths too. and im looking forward to seeing both wookiefoot and trampled by turtles more then anything you listed. although id probably take mmj if i had my choice. thats just a matter of taste though. but for the jam fan everything that would draw them to langerado is playing better fests with better timeslots all summer long. langerados main draw is its the only fest in the long winter festival draught. it dosent have one of string cheeses final shows, mule latenight, or even a 4 hour wsp show like roo, a latenight moe superjam like all good, a p-funk DBB james brown tribute or claypool >ratdog like the vibes, or umphreys mcgee's first major headline slot > bisco latenight, and the killer close out of toubab krewe>mule>trey>either derek trucks band or dumpstaphunk latenight that 10klf offers up. not only do you get a whole extra day of music over langerado you get 7 + more hours of music everynight. dont mean to say your wrong for your opinion, to each their own. but thats why i think langerado comes in near the bottom and certainly behind 10klf.
Stephen Malkmus > every band on 10K lakes lineup, aside from Trey, imo.
He certainly kills wookiefoot and is far more important to music as a whole than almost every band on the lineup.
like you said, my opinion, and you are entitled to yours, but Malkmus has accomplished more musically than almost every band on that lineup. see Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain or Brighten The Corners for an illustration.
edit: and that's not to bash any band on the 10K lineup, so please don't take it that way.
also WSP closed Langerado just like Roo, and they also had a late night Bisco show that went til like 4 AM, so I think you are a little off base there with your "it doesn't have" list.
well im certainly not going to argue that point. malkmus is a bigger name/more important and all of that by far and away. but i just dont get into it. for me id rather see wookiefoot. your right about trey though. but you forgot bob weir. he is above trey and malkmus.

ya but i said a 4 hour show. langerados 2 hour and 15 minute set is hardly a widespread headline set imo. and i was under the impression that the bisco latengiht required leaving your campground after the headliner and driving 30 miles and also buying another ticket. again i personally disqualify it for sucking so bad. kinda like a 2 hour set for wsp. but not trying to bash langerado. it is what it is and im sorry i missed it this year. i hope to attend next year.
