Man, kinda weak. If only they could pull together something better in my own town.
Edit: for crying out loud, do I keep getting smitten because of this stupid comment? Grow up, people. Look, the lineup is very strong on its own terms and it sure as hell does have some huge names, but I was surprised how much it is riding on the coattails of the other major festivals this year. Sure it has some acts all to itself, but overall it's just retreading. I guess it bothers me that they're not trying to cultivate their own style and personality. This is my opinion on the matter, and if you feel you have to express your disagreement through smiting instead of words, then screw off.
Thats not a bad lineup, though it is a bit pricey for the amount of artists that are playing for the two days- $179 for the 2 days. The one day passes go on sale later next month.

Police, Beasties, Modest Mouse, Incubus, TVOTR, Ben Harper, Pumpkins, Cornell, Chrystal Method, Wu Tang Clan (they should be co-headlining with the Pumpkins that day, imo, especially in Baltimore) and Dieselboy make that a pretty sweet lineup. Price is high but I can't imagine that roster came cheap.
sets last year were a little over an hour LIGUY and the headliners were just a little longer
Thats good to here, but I have to sleep on this. I will be taking off for my gf's b-day (she is turning 30) the weekend before, so it may be tough to get two weekends back to back.
Anybody else think this might knock a dent in the Lolla lineup? I mean, I prefer Lolla's lineup, but Virgin's pretty much running out headliner after headliner after headliner for this thing. Ben Harper is probably Lolla's third biggest act and at Virgin, he's probably somewhere around 8th or 9th biggest.
Conversely, will people who might be on the fence for going to Bonnaroo because of the Police end up spending their money on a 2 day, non camping fest where they can kick back in the comforts of city lodging?

This lineup is amazing!! Incubus?!?! Holy Hell!! I've wanted to see Incubus in a festival setting for who knows how long. I wish this festival wasn't so friggin' far away! I would be there in a flash!
I like the line-up, but it is pretty expensive for 2 days with no camping, and probably no parking again like last year. I think it's gonna sell out really fast. There's alot of bands there that I haven't seen yet and want to, so I'm gonna have to try and get a 2 day ticket I think. I really wanna see Amy Winehouse, TVOTR, Peter Bjorn & John, Modest Mouse, INTERPOL, Crystal Method, WU-TANG. Yeah tickets will not be around long. I coulda done without the 311 and Incubus IMHO, but what R U gonna do?
I agree with the smited guy...and that's why im going to lolla instead.
It just struck me as a very average lineup - the best might be that its a cheap way to see the police... other than that... meh.
I agree up to a point. The thing, is half the lineup is awesome, and half the lineup sucks. But if they schedule things right, you can pretty much hit headliner to pre-headliner acts all day long...
You know, of all the festivals that take place throughout the US, I still feel like Bonnaroo is keeping it humble and respectable.
Since I have just recently been able to afford the pleasure of attending, every major concert has caught my eye. I hadn't even heard of the party in Manchester up until a couple of years ago, but since then, these massive fests have been popping up everywhere, each trying to outdo the others with bigger acts.
The LOVE of music is one thing.
But...
F*ck Virgin (no pun intended)!
The lineup is BIG, with varied tastes in music, but they might as well add Ruben Studdard or Rod Stewart to the mix. Big names bring big crowds right? Add f*cking Celene Dion and J-Lo while your at it.
Do they not rock as much as 311? Add Creed then.
Sure... I would kill to see the Pumpkins (a teenage guilty pleasure) and few of the other artists playing Virgin, but not @ Roo.
When Radiohead was announced last year, it caught my attention and my dollars. Everyone I grew up listening to was playing there. Except for the Flaming Lips and Ween. This year they are.
"All in all, the creative act is not performed by the artist alone.. the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act." -- Marcel Duchamp

That remains to be seen. I don't know if Amy Winehouse is worth what $175 + $9 dollar beers + $6 slice of pizza... but I do have free lodging...and tickets to lolla.

Just got 3 tix for me and 2 friends who weren't able to take off a week to drive 14 hours into the middle of nowhere. Will it be the Bonnaroo experience? Definitely not. Will it be a rockin' great time at the Racetrack and a weekend of extreme summer fun. Absolutely!!! Oh, and combining the price I paid for Bonnaroo ($249) + Virgin ($200) for a total of $449... Police tickets at Madison Square Garden cost $254.50 each(disgusting,) so if you look at it that way, I've already saved $60 bucks... not bad
Choice lineup, I'll be there. To be able to see Jimmy Chamberlin and Stewart Copeland both playing those licks again is worth it enough for me...and then I get to see the Bad Brains, Beasties and 311 too! Oh, hellz yeah I'm in!
Plus, it's a good excuse to drop in on old friends in Ball Mer, Merlin and hang on the stoop drinking some Natie Bow
I'm heading over with a friend. I was interested when I heard about Smashing Pumpkins and Beastie Boys, then sold when they annouced Incubus, 311, Cheap Trick, Wu-Tang, and Infected Mushrooms. I'm glad they are in August, but Bonnaroo would have a tough competition if I had to choose between the two.

I think this is a pretty awesome (and surprisingly unique) lineup. 179+ fees is way too much for only 2 days, though, especially without camping. Sorry Mr. Corgan, maybe I'll be able to catch you during your yet to be announced 20 night Metro stand in Chicago...
