I need to see what kind of package deals they announce for this but I think I'm gonna do this. I've always wanted to go to Jamaica and I'm always down for an Umphrey's show or two. Throw in the Biscuits and this sounds pretty good. I'm glad they announced it plenty time in advance so we have time to plan.
my impression was that it's a sketchy place, to say the least.
i have a friend who went too, and its just like every other semi-developed nation out there. if you stay on the property of whatever resort/hotel/business venue you're there at, you're totally fine. its when you venture forth into the 'wild' (or local places) that you have to be cautious. even then he never felt in danger, just was bothered by every single person he met trying to sell him something. he even met a local guy he hung out with for a few days with his g/f who was cool as hell.

New information added. Keller Williams and Brain Damaged Eggmen are now playing. Information on resorts and package deals is up also. This looks so good. I'm gonna do everything I can to make this happen. I like the idea of having all the food and drinks included in the price. Keeps it simple.
my biggest problem with this is that they only announced details on the 10th and they're starting pre-booking on the 16th, which only gives me 6 days of warning to try and come up with a $250 deposit. with only 400 rooms being held at both these resorts, i think everyone who doesn't jump on the pre-booking immediately on the 16th is going to get shut out, and while i can come up with the $$, i feel like i don't really have enough time to sit down and figure out whether or not i can actually do this.
i -love- the idea and would die to do this, but i think if i was gonna pull off a big winter/music vacation combo, i might be leaning more towards going to see moe. in amsterdam over 11/19 + 11/20.

yea, for sure. I am totally pre-booking as soon as they put it up. This falls directly 2 weeks after my wife and I's tenth anniversary. I think they allow you to cancel with a $75 forfeiture before a certain date. So if you want to prebook just to be sure, and then decide later you have the option to decide for a small fee.
I'm about 98% sure I'm going. It's basically up to my wife, who, truth be told, doesn't like these bands, but is very interested in this for some reason. I'm not even big on Umphrey's, Keller or the Duo, but I love Bisco, and just the idea of an all-inclusive resort style caribbean vacation with shows is freakin awesome. I really hate night clubs and the drunken parade of americans on vacation in the caribbean. Every time I go on a vacation like this, I wish there were a show to go to, instead of a night club.
Plus the B-D-E show should be pretty sweet.
I was consdering Vegoose again, but this may take its place....

How many gigs will each band be playing? Umphrey's McGee and the Disco Biscuits will each be performing three shows. Keller Williams and the Bevevento Russo Duo will be performing twice. Brain Damaged Eggmen will be performing one show
Is all the music at the resorts, or will there be shows elsewhere? All performances will take place at the resort locations.
When is the music? There will be music beginning at sundown and will continue well on through the night. All shows will take place between Thursday, December 13 and Sunday, December 16. Unless you add additional days to your trip, you will need to check out of your room by 11am on Monday December 17th.
When will the music schedule be available? The schedule for Caribbean Holidaze will be posted a few weeks before the event. We want to make sure that you'll be able to see each and every band on board perform an entire show, so they'll be no overlapping. No two bands will perform at the same time twice.
I'm all booked up at the Breezes. I'm really excited. so much so, I've decided to hit the ATL show just to temper my excitement... long time til december.
but i really want to go. i was trying to talk xiphoid420 into it last night..
