honestly i think the roo line-up is better overall
but
if your asking for my personal opinion i'd say right now they're equal. like lolla looks rediculous! roo is also rediculous! its hard. for me personally i'd go with equal, but if you're askign which line-up looks better from an unbiased eye i'd go with roo
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we wont, and we're slowly learning that fact & we're very, very pissed off......."
I don't even think format comes into it. The Bonnaroo lineup is just better. It's more diverse. There are better musicians. It's got more than one headliner. I mean, Lolla's appeal is largely built on the presence of four acts: PJ, Daft Punk, Iggy & the Stooges and MMJ. Those are four great acts, but from there on, it's sort hard to compare the two. Either Roo has the same acts or they're kind of lame.
And Satellite Party billed that high? Talk about stroking Perry's ego...

I'd say Roo as well, the biggest factor for me would be that it is in the country and camping is fun. I wouldn't go to Roo if it was in a park of a downtown city. I really wish Lolla went back to their roots and did the touring gig, 96 and 97 were great fun for me.

I think Roo does have the better lineup but both are really good. Headliner-wise, Roo's top 3 are either equal or slightly superior to Lolla's, though Lollapalooza does have the added strength of having two headliners on both Friday and Saturday.
Bonnaroo's lineup is a bit deeper (they're helped there by the extra day and the nights) though Lolla does bring acts like Silverchair, Sean Lennon, and Roky Erickson that simply glow.
One category that Roo really beats Lolla, as of right now anyway, is hiphop. Roo, so far, has the Roots, Aesop Rock, El-P, and possible mcs with Galactic. Lolla has a shorter set for the Roots and Lupe Fiasco. Last year they shared Common, Blackalicious, and Lyrics Born...Roo had Atmosphere and Cypress Hill/Lolla had Kanye West as a headliner.
the thing about lollapalooza is that it does "go down" like bonnaroo if you know what i mean (esp w/ the late nights).... that being said Chicago is a sweet town, with good food, nice people, and and entire city to explore afterward (since the festival ends at 10pm)
