Bands I've read about being there so far are Girl Talk, Powerhouse Sound, Cat Power, Clipse, Grizzly Bear, Professor Murder, Jamie Lidell, Of Montreal and Iron and Wine. Allegedly, the festival lineup will be announced tomorrow. There's a third day too. I'm hyped. I think I'll buy tix on Monday.
While this is really more my type of music I think I am going to do all good this year. With the hotel and the walking I really would rather enjoy a fest outside of a city.
Picked up 2 3 day festival passes for $102. Friggin sweat deal. Looking forward to seeing Cat Power with her new backing band.
And ATP is potentially amazing. Some of the groups that have participated in that thing boggle the mind (Gang of Four, The Stooges, The Fall, Wire, etc). My guess is that they get Shellac and Slint.
pavement something would be cool.....a jeff mangum/nmh set would be intense (in a perfect world).....but pavement would be perfect for pitchfork, but who else, becasue isn't there 3 performers that night?

Wow. That's awesome. And they're saying two more bands. I wasn't going to go this year, but I'm quickly being persuaded otherwise. It's only 20 minutes from me.

I went last year and had a great time. Everyone just minded there own biz and had a chill time. It was super hot last year but theres shade. Its in Union Park and its a nice place. They served Goose Isle or Goose Head beers, summer Ale. It was really good. It was so hot I just drank all saterday and that made it fun. They had the Flatstock poster show going on too, and a record fair which sucked up some money.
Looking at their site, this year House of Love and Slint are also doing albums. I doubt House of Love will be at Pitchfork though given their relative obscurity stateside. But here's a history of groups who've done The Don't Look Back series in the past are: In 2006: ENNIO MORRICONE - FILM SOUNDTRACKS GIRLS AGAINST BOYS - VENUS LUXURE NO. 1 BABY GREEN ON RED - GAS FOOD LODGING ISIS - OCEANIC LOW - THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE NIGHTMARES ON WAX - SMOKERS DELIGHT- CANCELLED TEENAGE FANCLUB - BANDWAGONESQUE TORTOISE - MILLIONS NOW LIVING.... In 2005: Dinosaur Jr.- You're Living All Over Me The Stooges- Fun House Belle & Sebastian- If You're Feeling Sinister Jon Spencer Blues Explosion- Orange Lemonheads- It's a Shame About Ray Mum- Yesterday Was Dramatic, Today Was Okay Cat Power- Covers Record Mudhoney- Superfuzz Big Muff + Early Singles Melvins- The Scala Dirty Three- Ocean Songs Sophia- The Infinite Circle
