ok so i guess ozzfest is doing something where fans will be able to attend the festival for free. sounds pretty sweet but i'm sure there is gonna be mad stuff sold to you at the fest or some kinda of huge corporate involvment (maybe it will be like a timeshare where in order to see a band you have to watch 10 minutes of commercials first) anyway, check the article out

retarded....and the bands dont get paid. they prolly wont be able to pull a decent line-up because of this.....oh wait, they have struggled to pull a decent line-up for years now...
Yeah I have to think that Sharon Osbourne knows what she's doing. I'll definitely be following this - it looks like they have a show planned for Nashville, and I don't see any reason why I'd turn down a free metal show.
And unlike a lot of perceptions, Ozzfest has for the most part moved away from nu-metal; the lineups from the past couple haven't been all that bad if you're into metal.

i'm still gonna go. another chance to see Ozzy? i'm there. hate him or not, i still love him, i saw him on the second stage here in Chicago last year.....once-in-a-lifetime....he is still one of the four people (ozzy, geezer, tony, bill) who basically defined Metal. And for that i owe them my devotion.
i think black sabbath would be great at roo. with dio or ozzy. i wasnt into them mostly because id never really listenend and didnt get into ozzy's new stuff much. but a friend gave me the black box collection this summer and its great music. i dont know if id enjoy the vibe at ozzfest. but id love to see sabbath somewhere else. i hope roo. althoguh i know its incredibly unlikely. and i dont think it would screw the roo vibe. i have met tons of people at fests allover that love sabbath. and many who go to ozzfest.
ronnie james dio gets a bad rap. forget the clothes/image and all that crap. the dude can sing. is one of the fathers of metal. and many people prefer the dio sabbath to ozzy. id prefer ozzy but id be happy with dio. they are both legends and both built sabbath. heaven and hell is a great album. it dosent get the credit it deserves because of the switch to dio. and in present day there is little doubt that dio sounds much better then ozzy. but i understand everyone wanting to see ozzy. so bring on either one of them and im happy
Dio and Tony Iommi are putting together a side project, I read on the ozzfest site when I checked out that article. And I think I might check out free ozzfest in Indianapolis, I'd love to see Ozzy once in my life.
Dio can sing, I just prefer Ozzy in my Sabbath. If I am going to see the fathers of metal I want it to be the original 4.
ya i wanna go. ill be out west for 10klf while they are playing in the michigan area. oh well. not like ill be hating missing ozzfest at 1oklf. but i do wish i could make it to see sabbath.
tony iommi is the man. hes the one who truly made sabbath. ozzy sang but tony was the heart. and wrote most of the songs. and you gotta be badass to cut the tips of a couple fingers off on his last day of work before quiting to be a rockstar. how crazy is that. but he melted bottle caps to his fingers and put leather on those and played. another inch and who knows. maybe no black sabbath. im glad it worked out.

Yeah, but if it hadnt of happened at all, there also may not be sabbath today. I think its one of those things that can make you think everything happens for a reason.
ya i argue too much.. just bored though. but same to you... there arent many 17 yearolds running around that know as much about or are listening to the good music you are. and even fewer at bonnaroo with a purple rain shirt on!

so how difficult/nearly impossible do you think it will be to get tickets? Will the tix be radio give-aways and that is the only way you can get them? will you have to camp out at the venue to get tix the morning of the fest? If anyone has the info on how this will work, please clue me in.

Yeah, Ozzfest is getting paid for by the sponsors.
Someone above mentioned that the bands probably wont get paid....well....little (or not?) known fact is that in poast years, 2nd stage rotating bands (or their record label) actually had to pay 80 grand to get on the tour. So, yeah. Take that for what you will, not really sure how the money flow is going to work this year, but Clear Channel is definitely into it, as they have been in the past.
Other bands that Ive heard rumored to be playing Ozzfest this year: Black Label Society (pretty much a given by now), Hellyeah! (Vinnie Paul's new band), and Alice in Chains. I'm sure some smaller bands will pop up too....more than likely at least one Roadrunner band rotating, at least one Victory band rotating, etc. I'm sure Lamb of God wont be a co-headliner. Probably a mid-main stage band.
It'll still be Ozzfest, just free, with a not-so great lineup.

my friends band did the whole second stage thing a couple years ago, and yes that it true, the record labels had to pay to get their bands on the tour.
the only good band on this years tour soo far is nile. but then again, i think every year sucks. mostly more main stream metal that doesnt float my boat.
I like Ozzy, only seen him solo once. Lamb of God is always a good show. I wouldnt mind seeing Ankla and Nile though. And of course, if the rumors are right, Alice in Chains. Even without Layne, that would be amazing.
I am looking forward to seeing Nile and Lamb of God the most. Lamb of God puts on a great show. I saw them in October in Charlotte. Nile puts on an amazing show. But I think Ozzy is what I am looking forward to the most about. I have never seen Ozzy and would love to see him live.
for those who care, 3 Inches of Blood and Daath got added to the 2nd stage today. Both are Roadrunner bands.
I think its officially worth going to now. Ozzy, Lamb of God, Mondo Generator, Nile, Ankla and now 3 Inches of Blood. I've never seen 3IOB, but really wanted too. Now hopefully I will.
