"Other acts expected in the eclectic lineup: Arcade Fire, Interpol, Willie Nelson, the Roots, Manu Chao, the Decemberists, Arctic Monkeys, Sonic Youth, Crowded House, Air, Tiësto and Kings of Leon."
Damn, there's gonna be so many people forking over money just to see Rage. I can't say the idea didn't cross my mind either...
I'd say this clears up a few things for Bonnaroo - first, it doesn't look like Bjork or RHCP would be on the bill (grated they were unlikely anyways). Secondly, I would almost count on some of those other expected bands to be at 'roo - last year there was a pretty solid overlap between the two festivals. I would be shocked if I didn't see Willie, Arcade Fire, Roots, Decemberists, and Kings of Leon at Bonnaroo.

ya. id love to see rage. also willie and the roots. but the rest of the implied lineup isnt for me. and im not gonna spend that much loot for an hour long rage show. maybe they will expand the headliner slot for them but i doubt it. hour and a half at the most id guess. just not worth it. maybe if i lived much closer. i doubt rage would do just one show. a tour is probably coming sometime soon. ill catch them then.

Rage is pretty sweet, but other then that i'd say the announcment was pretty weak. I'm sure they'll get away with it this year since rage is playing though.
Solid lineup. Bjork makes me jealous. Rage is sort of eh for me. I'm kind of over them. RHCP I've heard mixed things about live. Manu Chao's a nice pickup for them though. Interpol's a mixed bag. Not sure if they'd fit at Roo or I'd want to see them there. The rest are sort of standard Coachella fair.
I for one think RATM would fit in great at the 'roo. It's a shame we didn't get them. When Perpetual Groove busted out Bulls on Parade in 05 everyone went friggin apeshit.

It is a pretty damn good line-up, but not the kind that makes me want to jump in a plane and fly to go see it.
Rage and Bjork would have been cool to see, but they are not completely out of the box. They did add a couple of good extra people like the Coup, Shadow, Spank Rock, Ghostface, and Soulwax, along with a bunch of good mid-tier bands. However, I think that Arcade Fire(lets hope) and some of these other bands will be playing both fests, which makes it even more unlikely to jump in a plane to the desert. I am just happy they did not throw Boards of Canada or Underworld on there to make me really start contemplating a plane ticket.
It sucks that they are raising the ticket prices to: $45 camping $85 per day $249 for the entire festival
I am pretty sure that tickets were below $200 last year - more like $175ish, but they did add an extra day. Still $250 seems like a lot. The fees on that must come out to another $30-$40, which makes it almost a $300 ticket, and that is if you are not camping.
I hope that means that the Roo is not going to make their increases proportionately, or we are going to be seeing $275 to $300 tickets.
Wow, this is a very tight lineup. Better than last years lineup and I say better than what Palloza had last year. This could be a sneak peek of who could possibly play roo this year.
I'm really surprised the Pumpkins aren't on there. I thought that they'd be the big reunited group to play. RATM is a much better grab for Coachella though. I'd love to go, as I say every year.

Amazing lineup but thats quite a bit priceier than Bonnaroo. I assumed the Coachella price would go up with the addition of the third day but Roo has 4.
I hope some of those bands play both festivales...especially Damien Rice & cocorosie.
RATM has got to be doin some kind of tour, don't cha think. I'd find it hard to believe, that they'd do just one show. The world needs RATM, now more than ever. Today's political climate demands that they do a tour, IMO.
I bet RATM just does one show. They aren't really "reunion tour" material, unless they are absolutely back together, which I don't think they are. And expect Cornell to probably make an appearance.
I'm really pleased with the Coachella lineup and there are some rare gems in there (Placebo, DJ Shadow) -- but I think that the lineup provides more details by who is not on there. Namely, the bigger three in the Roo rumour mill. I don't want to give any more validity to the rumor itself per se, but The Police not being at Coachella is very, very significant.
That's a really good lineup. With all the festivals they play, RHCP aren't that big a deal, but I've heard only good things (barring Lolla) so they'll step up I'm sure. Though I don't know anything about Bjork, RATM is awesome so I'd really enjoy that. Unfortunately the ticket prices are too high, and Indio is even further from here than Manchester, so it'll be a no go. I see a lot of acts on there that would be great at Bonnaroo, here's hoping.
Oh, I forgot to mention;even though they aren't headliners, the Good the Bad and the Queen is a sweet signing. I'll hope they'll stay in America another two months and make it to Roo.
Also, even though the Coachella site won't work for me, LMB quoted this from the CA site:
"Rage Against the Machine, the seminal L.A. band that made heavy music into political manifesto, will reunite after a seven-year lull for one show as the headliners at the 2007 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival."

there is an 'offiical poster' going around showing the Coachella lineup with Jesus & Mary Chain on it. this HAS to be BS! plus there are confirmed bands not on it. anyone else seen this?

Gee, personally I'm most surprised by the sudden inclusion of country, folk and related styles into the fest which shunned it all for so long. To see Willie Nelson (how can he play there before playing Bonnaroo?!), Nickel Creek, Gillian Welch, The Avett Brothers, and others included in that lineup just wrecks the preconceived notions I had about Coachella, for better or worse.
To be blunt: are those self-involved hipsters really going to accept that kind of music?

I think for the most part, hipsters are to Coachella as hippies are to Bonnaroo. Sure, they're the stereotype for that festival, but there are still going to be a large group of people who are well rounded musically.
