went today to get a new license. the picture is sooooo awful...like i'm considering paying the fee again to get another one. my hair is did all nice and i get up there and they tell me i have to move my bangs so they can see my eyebrows. wth DMV, i hate you.
I'm pretty sure they do that shit on purpose. When I got mine, I had hair and makeup did (38 was going to look good) and I put my purse down, stood up and she clicked the photo. I was going to make her retake it if it looked bad. I got lucky it looked good, but so messed up. The DMV is the worst.

One of the students at my old school (one of my friends current students) died in a motorbike accident last night. She was 16 :\ That's really heavy. Way too soon for her to be gone, and way to soon for her friends and family to have to mourn a loss like that.

That's rough. 16 is so young. My heart goes out to her family and friends.
My considerably less serious, but still upsetting to me, GRRR is: I left my Kindle Fire on one of my flights home yesterday. I know exactly when and where I left it, and I've reported it to the airline, but I can't say I'm holding out much hope of getting it back.
I had someone die on the phone with me at work tonight. That kinda sucks. He drowned in a car that he somehow ran into the pond in his apt complex. (He was drunk and he was just involved in an argument with his dad before this happened.) Crazy to think that I'm the last voice he heard before he drowned.. Crazy shit. Good news is my trainee got to hear a serious call and she's sticking it out.

Also, sorry to hear that bansheebeat. That sucks. 16 is way too young. Good vibes being sent across the world to you.
Ugh. That's rough. I have several experiences at the rehab that I wish I could unexperience. Make sure you're talking it out with people because those kinds of things just don't disappear from your mind.

I'm fighting really hard to keep from going to rehab. Thank you, Dave Maynar, for reinforcing that it's a place to avoid.

Sex addiction is not an easy fix. I'd get back into therapy if I were you.

first. want to give my condolences to those on this page with some truly tough things happening.
what I'm about to bitch about is way less serious than some of these other unfortunate occruances.
I got my shipping notification for my live at bonnaroo jack white vault package over a week ago. on the 24th my shipping tracker said it was in minneapolis. then it said it needed to be forwarded (which could make sense, I just moved 3 months ago, but I thought my updated addresses was used when I ordered it). it said it would be delivered on the 26th. there now hasn't been an update since almost 8:00am on the 24th and still says the 26th is the expected delivery. I'm worried they lost it and all I want is my damn package!

Having celiac disease can be really frustrating at times. Adjusting my diet was the easy part. The difficult part is trusting people to actually take my dietary restriction seriously. I went to Chipotle for lunch today, and as always, the first thing I did was ask the server to change his gloves in order to avoid wheat contamination. He willingly obliged, but then immediately placed both fresh gloves on a tortilla before I had the chance to ask him for a burrito bowl, which effectively nullified the act of changing his gloves in the first place.
Edit: I realize the simple solution is to not buy food from a place where there is a risk of cross contamination, but I haven't been willing to give up Chipotle just yet.

as someone who has worked in the service industry for 10 years, I can tell you we can usually tell when someone is actually celiac vs. when someone's "gluten free."
those "gluten free" assholes have made it harder for those of you with a serious condition, because, well, they're fucking faking it. they're a big reason why someone wouldn't take you seriously in that kind of situation, and it really sucks.
also, it blows my mind how often I get asked for a gluten free menu now compared to a year and a half ago. it's just another diet trend that will make its way out as soon as another one comes along. hopefully then your needs won't be looked at as not that big of a deal.

Yeah, the fact that so many people are partaking in this gluten-free fad makes it much more difficult to distinguish between those who actually have legitimate dietary restrictions versus those who are following a fad diet or self-diagnosing themselves. It's frustrating for people with celiac or wheat allergies, and it's frustrating for employees in the food service industry. It sounds like you're very knowledgeable about the various dietary restrictions, but unfortunately I get the impression that many fast food and chain restaurant employees are not properly trained in that area. The gluten-free fad has become so popular that when I tell someone I can't have gluten for the first time, their response is to ask me if I'm working toward some kind of goal. Then I have to explain what celiac disease is.

I really hate Facebook photos with stupid hashtags like #blessed, #grownuptime, or #maturity. And those are just the ones in the first three items on my wall this morning. Stop it, people...just stop it.
Minimum wage in NJ is going up to $8.38, and a coworker is complaining that when she started, minimum wage was $7.25, and new employees "don't know how good they've got it".
Lord, please grant me the strength the not throttle a motherfucker today.

guh. so my old address somehow ended up on my vault package. just called and they said it needed to be forwarded, which could take a few days to process. I moved about 10 blocks away from my old place, mind you. can't I just go pick it up?! the package has literally been in minneapolis since last tuesday!

yeah, I can see where fast food places and the like wouldn't know as much about it - which has to be really frustrating.
servers can usually tell. especially when you're thrown questions like this: "are french fries gluten free?? okay GOOD! I can totally eat fries! awesome!" a bunch of things at my restaurant (like half the menu) have soy sauce in them. I always get dumbfounded looks when I tell "gluten free" people they can't have anything from the wok portion of the menu because it has soy sauce in it. they think gluten = carbs. and it's all middle aged women from the suburbs.
I have been working on this stupid newsletter to get it ready for January 1 and the system is acting stupid. I have been trying to do one task for over 30 minutes now. UGH!! As much as I love my job, I hate this newsletter... or at least the system I have to create it in now.
Upset your friends took all the Vikings players last night?
bahaha funny story. they're my coworkers at the restaurant I work at and I was supposed to work last night, but I got called off. maybe I am a bit subconsciously jealous...
