I told her that we have nothing in common and that I don't want to date him. She then proceeded to tell me, "You are 30 years old so I don't think you should be picky. As long as he has a pulse and is single, you should date him. I want grandkids before I'm dead." Ugh and Grrrrrrrrr.... Only a few more months and I'll have my own apartment - then I won't have to deal with my mom sticking her nose where it doesn't belong.
That sucks. You should tell you mother that your dating life is your business and not hers, and it's your decision to be with someone or not. And inevitably your decision to have children or not.
My mother would try and set my brother and I up on dates with various girls - usually daughters of co-workers. And these girls were by far the worst either one of us could have ever been with. A few were mentally unstable, one was super desperate for any attention, and pretty much all of them were dumber than a cinder block. Never would have been happy with any of them.
My brother has been dating this girl now for like 4-5 months, and when my mom first met the girlfriend - the first thing out of her mouth was whether or not she wanted kids. It was the most awkward conversation of the year. And then she threw some shots at me cause I don't want kids, treating me like I'm second class.

Isn't family fun? My mother is desperate to get me married too. Not for the grandkids thing, I've given her one and my brother gave her four, but because she thinks there's something wrong with people who are still single in their 30's. Don't let anyone, not even your mother, make you feel guilty about your life choices.
I got a flat tire on my way into work. When the deputies showed up to change my tire (I figured it'd be quicker than waiting on roadside assistance) I discovered that the last time I got a flat they didn't put back my spare. So then I had to use roadside assistance anyways because I had to have my car towed. I got it towed to Tire Discounters, where I got my tire fixed last time, so that I can hopefully get my spare back & maybe even get lucky and my tire will be under warranty. Made arrangements to get picked up at work by my little brother & have him drive me to Tire Discounters in the AM..... Then I remembered its Sunday & Tire Discounters is fucking closed. So now I have to make arrangements to get a ride to & from work tonight too. Did I mention that this was my first day back to work after my month long vacation? Because that sucks too. Not to mention I still have the crack in my windshield that magically appeared Monday at Bonnaroo. Ughhhhh. Car problems are just awful. It's always something.
I'm going on a month of feeling crappy. I was sick before I went to Bonnaroo and went to he walk-in clinic the Wednesday before Roo. NP told me I just had bad allergies and prescribed Flonase. Ok, it may be bad allergies, but this has been going on since June 6! Some days I have a very slight fever of 99. Sore throat, congestion, clogged ears, eyes crusted shut in the mornings, lost my voice for a few days, etc. OTC meds worked at first but now they are not effective. To make matters worse, I'm certain that the filtration (or something) at work is making it all worse and probably started it all in the first place. Any advice? I'm at my wits end. I don't want to go to the doctor unless I KNOW it's something they will actually treat because I'm tired of spending money and time on practitioners that can't help (I went at the end of May too only to have the doc tell me I just have a lot of fluid in my ears).

Have you used a Neti Pot? It'd help clean out what's trapped in your sinuses, that way you can get ahead of the problem with Flonase and an allergy pill.
Try to get an appointment with an ENT. My whole sinus situation is screwed up (thanks deviated septum!), the ENT was the one that gave me answers. My GP just kept telling me to use saline and OTC allergy drugs. ENT sent me for allergy testing and a CT scan. Turns out I have a no outdoor allergies, a cyst in one of my sinuses and chronic sinusitis.

I haven't tried a neti pot because I am sure I will screw it up and will end up gagging/drowning myself. But then again, that is what this sinus mess has felt like. There was a moment on Saturday when I felt I couldn't breathe properly and felt like I was drowning.
I guess an ENT is my best bet. Now it'll be a matter of finding one that can get me in sooner rather than later.

Are over the counter allergy meds effective at all? I'd try some Claritin if you haven't already.

Josh has found three scorpions in the house in the last couple of weeks. I just bought a black light so that he can go hunting for them at night. So creepy!

Get a cat, you will still find scorpions, but normally in little pieces

I could lend her DK. Given the amount of animals she has killed here, I am sure she would enjoy a change of pace.

Yeah, but then we would have a cat. ;-P
Seriously, though, we are considering it. Neither of us is really a cat person, and we aren't sure how the dogs would do with a cat, but I think I'd rather have a cat than scorpions.

You'll love a kitty, I promise! I wasn't a cat person until a cat randomly wandered in to my life. Now I'm a convert

sprinkle diatomaceous earth in your doorways/windows. it will keep them out of the house.
and spray for roaches and crickets, those are their favorite foods.

Athena would so love to help you with that. She is my little hunter. Scorpions, small birds, and cicadas are her specialities. Crickets, spiders, and roaches will do in a pinch.
edit-or you could go with diatomaceous earth, but it won't give you any loving.

Can we get the diatomaceous earth at like Lowe's or Home Depot? I looked on Amazon, but some of the big bags aren't Prime eligible, and the shipping is high on them.

I don't think you can get it from Home Depot or Lowe's. Keep trying Amazon. We found it cheap with very little postage. Get the edible kind, it's safer. And the shit works.

I live in phoenix and its at the Lowe's and home depot near my house. Also check pool stores, it is used as the filter element in a lot of systems.

Thanks, y'all! I'll check locally and then go back to Amazon if I can't find it. But now I kind of want a cat too. Maybe we will do both . . . and the black light, and get some lavender plants for good measure. I really wish we could get chickens, but I don't imagine they would get on too well with the dogs.

Is it bad that I work at Lowe's and never heard of that before?

go to a swimming pool supply store, they should have it there. its used as a filter agent so you can likely get a 25# bag which should be more than enough for your needs.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I'm guessing there aren't many scorpions up there, LD

Nope! We do have a lot of pools! And that is the only use that I have heard of for diatomaceous earth before yesterday!
Side note: I am not sure I have ever seen a line scorpion.
I still haven't seen a live one. Josh has found all the ones in our house. He did put one of the dead ones in our junk drawer, which he then forgot about until I opened the drawer and screamed. So I've seen a dead one.

Not to be a sore sport, but I've been dealing with the mother of all sinus infections since getting back from Roo two weeks ago. The doc wanted to hold off until now to prescribe antibiotics in order to let this miserable condition go away on its on (which it has NOT). He finally called it in this morning (along with prednisone to reduce inflammation) and I'll be dosing up this afternoon. Serenity NOW, insanity LATER!
I'm going to invest in a neti pot for Roo next year. Fuck getting sick!
