No worries, LD: you won't spontaneously combust just by setting foot inside a church.
And trust me, Catholic christenings are quick. It's the Catholic funerals that seem to last a month. Two shots of whiskey should do you up nicely. That said, it's time for a refill. Alcoholls is enjoying another fruity concoction of flavored vodka & whothehellcareswhatelsegoesinit.

Not sure what y'alls experience with Catholic ceremonies is but hard liquor is usually a featured ingredient.
^ I came from an Irish Catholic family. Truer words concerning hard liquor have never been spoken. I'd *If* LD liked wine, I would've encouraged him to raid the sacristy & drink the eucharist wine!

At my parents church, they serve grape juice. Because god forbid they actually break out the real stuff. Or say it's ok to have any alcohol.

It's embarrassing how ignorant I am when it comes to wine. I could do a blind taste test of a $5 bottle and a $200 one and I couldn't even tell the difference. Guess I'll stick with boxed Franzia.

Most people are. They have done numerous tests and if you tell someone a bottle is expense, they will believe it and drink it. Case in point below:
Wine can be intimidating! It took me years to realize which coffee I like (Rwandan bourbon varietal), which liquor (mmm, vodka!) works for me, and which wines (reds; preferably a cabernet) I prefer.
Hopefully the wine thread will be tasty & enlightening... 'cause lord knows I still have a lot to learn about the stuff! But your advice is spot-on, WLV: "Find what you like and drink that."
