As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
Just reread some of the beginning of this story and the arguments that took place last year.. haha. Discounting the whole "coming back looking for handouts in later years" thing, I think I envy (2006) Kramer more now than I did even a year ago. I would love to cut loose from my job and my house and my possessions and just travel around the country for a while. mmmmm....
I wish Into the Wild didn't suck so hard. I know some people love it, some of you probably, I'm sorry, it's horrible. Sean Penn needs to run far, far away from directing any more movies. They make the kid look like a total retard, what's worse he was a retard that constantly produced lengthy sage quotations that just served to irritate me further. The trippy scenes didn't make any sense, the supporting actors were largely vapid and fawning over the lead, and the scenes involving the parents were oh so poorly done. The real guy didn't die because "Oooops, I forgot to turn ONE more page in my book of All the Incredibly Deadly Plants You Shouldn't Eat When Living In a Bus In Rural Alaska, he died because of a fungus on an EDIBLE plant that prevents the stomach from taking any nutrition from the things you eat. And the moose scene made no sense. And I could go on for days. This movie gave me a headache from all the face-palming I did. haha
End of rant, sorry. I hear people worshiping Into the Wild all the time and it drives me crazy because I've spent so much of my life studying survival in the wild and I really wanted to like this movie and it was just an incredible letdown. I hear the book is pretty good.

I like the idea of the movie more than the movie itself, I had no idea it was that loosely based on the real story though. Makes me think of a Mitch Hedberg joke:
Guy: Hey, Mitch, did you hear that story about that lady who drove her car into the lake with her kids and they all drowned? Mitch Hedberg: Yeah, I did, and you know what - that inspires me to write a movie about a gorilla.
Every time I read this thread I am reminded of how great Bonnaroo is, and also how lucky I am to be able count the OP, and roofan among my best friends. To me this thread really represents what the true "spirit" of Bonnaroo is all about.
Man that was a read, just did all 16 pages, and most of the 7 pages in his follow up post in 07. My head is spinning, my only interruption was when Proboards was doing their update, which gave me time to eat some corn. DMB/RooFan and Teenie you guys are too kind. It was beautiful how everyone pulled together in 06. The generosity by everyone gives light and hope for humanity, it shows, there are good people out there. I do not know the right word to describe it, but being able to go back and see how some of the bonds on this board were formed, and read those stories, well that is a very special thing.
seriously just spent forever reading this whole thread, kramer sounds amazing! wish he were going to be at this bonnaroo. also, dmb and teine you guys are amazing for helping him out.

Just read the whole story... WHEW, that took a while... The generosity everyone showed to this man (especially roofan and nature boy) is why I love this community and can't imagine a summer (since I got out of the Navy in 2008) without Roo. Thanks all!
Upon graduating college, I had nowhere to live and my only option was to move in with my monster of a boyfriend. I chose self-sufficiency and lived nowhere instead of becoming dependent on him, working full-time and washing my one work outfit in a lake nightly.
Eventually I wound up in the ER after work one night with an ear infection so bad I had a dangerously high fever and a tongue so swollen I could barely talk (my job is to make about a hundred phone calls a day.) The ER doctor not only let me sleep there and made me a couple of sandwiches for work, but she gave me one hundred dollars in cash, which helped sustain me until my loan went through which got me into my own apartment.
She told me that tons of homeless people turn up at the ER seeking meds and a free bed and food and a lot of the doctors/nurses feel differently, but she helps whoever she can. People like her made me want to keep trying. People like all of you make me want to keep trying. I'm so blessed to know you people.
Wow! This has been awesome. I have read this in its entirety throughout the day. Chris is an inspiration. Im also a father of two that started young. Its nice to see there are other geniunely nice people out there. Props to everyone involved. Bonnaroo isnt a music festival, its a way of life. Love it!
