Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo in 2013!!
I don't understand why this is still unclear, itrainsmonkeys. My problem with the things you and others are saying is that you refuse to differentiate between the first time and afterwards (until your last post, at least) and most of the negative statements have no bearing on the reality of the situation as it was in 2006. The Debbie Downers make these grand over-arching statements of "Get a job you worthless bum!" and "I have to pay for my ticket so he should as well!" without any real consideration of the problem at hand.
No one is saying that he didn't fall from grace to some extent when he returned and attempted to take advantage of the goodwill he received when he was actually in a bad spot. I don't think anyone really disagrees with you on that point. I don't think he was a saint by any means, but originally he was just a good guy down on his luck that the Inforoo community got behind and made an awesome situation out of a bad one. It was a neat story, that's all. It makes some of us feel good, and it's awesome how roofan and teine were so generous and really started a movement to help some random dude out. The events afterwards are a real shame, but as I said earlier, that doesn't lessen the coolness of the original events. That's all.

I've never posted in this thread before. My only post included my differentiating between the first time and after that.
Please don't claim to have a problem with me over something I never did or said. What did I say that was unclear?

Most of those comments were from people who didn't read the thread. I read it and posted my thoughts. I never said "Get a job you worthless bum" or claimed to make an overarching statement. I even claimed that the first year is fine - people were generous and he didn't ask for a handout. I pointed out a lot of positive. My issue was with him taking advantage of people's kindness (which I stated he didn't do until after the first year).
Why such a rant against my post when all I did was give my thoughts on the subject and ask a question for further clarification? Was my original post really that heinous? I even agreed for the most part that what he did was fine. Great story of a guy down on his luck that got people together for a good cause. No problem with it......until he tried to use people's kindness and generosity for his own personal gain the next year.

^^ he actually only came back in 2007 asking for help
My mistake on that one Meg......I misunderstood the post below from Roofan......I took those two sentences to mean "He came back the next year and things went sour - and THEN he tried to pull the same thing the following year. I'd still like to know from someone who was around/involved if he had a reason for not having a ticket the following year.
He came back the next year and things went sour. He DID take advantage of Manchester/Inforoo’s kindness and tried to pull it off again the following year.

lol, who the Quack gives a Quack if this dude gave another dude a bonnaroo ticket? regardless of anything else, why do you care if you didnt fork over the money? someone getting into roo and not paying a dime out of pocket doesnt make my experience worth any less than what i paid.

His traveling partner was with him and I got his name but for the life of me, I can't remember.
Anthony ;D
I just got home from Barnaroo... I drove Anthony and Kramer out there too... Apparently this party has gone on annually for the last 9 - 10 years, but it's adopted the 'Barnaroo' name in the last two years. Why Barnaroo you ask? Well, the stage it in the loft of a huge barn. I'd never been out there before this evening; it was a nice setup. Drank a few brews and listened to some local music. It's got me pumped for Bonnaroo.
Wow I was just reading this on the first page and I actually found a flyer for 'barnaroo' in the back of my trunk when i bought the car, does anyone have any idea if this still goes on or where it is?
I lose points over a difference of opinion, you guys are just TOO awesome! I see i'm fighting the losing war because if i don't have the same opinion then i am wrong... and that to me, is wrong... enough of this childish bickering that's going no where... see you at roo
It doesn't sound like this guy got a crappy deal out of life. It sounds like he made his choices, and they were to be a mooching bum.
Uh, don't you people realize when you give people like them hand out's you are being taken advantage of. Tell them to get a job, make money to live like the rest of us.
You guys should really, really read the whole thread before you start in with this stuff. It just makes you look ignorant repeating the same simple-minded crap someone said YEARS ago. And what you are saying doesn't even apply to the situation, if you had read it in the first place you would know this. He wasn't (originally) a mooching bum, he was a dude traveling the country with his pal who INTENDED to work for his first Roo ticket, and got screwed by many various circumstances. Harassed by cops, kicked off his camping ground, pushed around by the man in charge of setting up Bonnaroo, NEVER asking anyone for help, he nonetheless received the kindhearted charity of the people of Inforoo and was grateful. He never once begged anyone that went to meet him or help him FOR the help. Now unfortunately it appears that he turned into somewhat of a begging mooch in the following years, but the focus of the story is really about that first year and besides, no one is going to help him now precisely because he broke the rules and became a mooch instead of giving back. When you post stupid shi.t like the lines quoted above, it really shows you were too lazy to read the thread and just decided to assert yourselves where you really weren't needed. Next time, try to be more considerate eh? At least make valid negative opinions if you are going to make them at all.
Peace
Couldn't have put it better myself. I remember hearing about Kramer's story but didn't get the full detail until I spent the last hour and a half reading this thread. Honestly, I don't give a flying Quack about the knit picky details or the fact that he returned with his hand out (although that really kind of sucks) the reactions of the folks in Manchester and the folks on this board (particularly Teine and Roofan) make me glad to be a part of such a wonderful community. It warms my heart and is a good example for how we should carry ourselves. As Meg said, it all comes back around full circle. This, among many, many other reasons, is why I love Bonnaroo.
All this reminiscing is making me really sad that I'm not going this year. I'm looking forward to Sasquatch, but it does not have the community that this festival does. Holy crap! if you have more than 30 post on their board you're a post whore. Well anyways, I'm glad someone brought this thread back. I think this board needs a Kramer every year to keep it close and of course, give the members something to fight about.
I wish all of you a very good time this year and I will pray for good weather. ;D

If you were custied, I doubt it was because of your opinion, but rather the attitude you chose to state it with.
So yeah back to my buddy that cant afford a ticket.... Any of you people that want to hook somebody up feel free to contact me about procuring a ticket for him. He's not traveling the countryside or anything but he is down on his luck.
Lost his job, water main broke while he was out of town destroying most of his things, car stolen under a month later.

This is the best thread ever (except for the naysaying.) Any time someone does something nice for a stranger just because they want to it's a good thing - and it doesn't matter to me at all what may or may not have happened to Kramer later. The outcome isn't the most important thing, the attitude of kindness and generosity exhibited by so many people here is what really matters. I wish I had a million karmas to give out.
Instead I'll just offer to contribute to a ticket for getfresh's friend:
"Lost his job, water main broke while he was out of town destroying most of his things, car stolen under a month later." That is some seriously bad stuff to happen all at once to someone. The guy needs a Roo break. Let's get it done.
Sounds like he needs a Bonnaroo. Hey getfresh, are you gonna be able to get him here if we get the ticket?
Yea....before actually gathering funds make sure getfresh is aware and his friend is free during roo weekend lol.
I guess if getfresh's friend doesn't work out there's always someone else who could use a ticket. it just seems like getfreshs friend could use some relaxing and good music
I called him and left a message. Hes gonna flip when he hears that a bunch of people he has never met are even considering chipping in for his ticket. But yes let me check and make sure he can still go.

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies; Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you; Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating others could destroy overnight; Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous; Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give your best anyway.
In the end, it is only between you and yourself. (original line:it is between you and God;) It was never between you and them anyway.
See, i'm all for getting this guy a ticket, he obviously is just have some really bad luck and IMO needs a ticket... I mean dam, i'd hate to be him right now, i'd need something to lift me up and a roo ticket would certainly do that... i wish i had enough extra cash to help him out
Well I talked to him and he was beyond amazed at the generosity but..... He said he really has to get his stuff back in order and get a new job. Also he would still need some loot to spend while at the festival. So dont worry about it. Thanks a lot though.
