the damn clue game should REALLY be reconsidered next year.... we'd probably all be happier if they just would have said they'll be an announcement Thurs and left it at that... btw - Raconteurs KICK ASS.

the lineup was already great. especially the secondary acts. and it is still bonnaroo afterall so its never going to be bad. but, WHY oh WHY all the hype for a lame announcement like WSP. Superfly made a PR misstep for sure.
ALOT OF PEOPLE have been checking this site and the official site in recent days. i bet that a large percentage of those people were on the fence about getting tickets and were hoping for an add that was special. many of them will be disappointed. i don't think this announcement is gonna boost ticket sales very much.
For a possible album review, biatch!!! (Although, our listeners/website viewers would probably be thinking, 'Moe, what in the f*ck is wrong with you??")

I think it's hilarious that after all the shit everyone has talked about jack johnson and the april fool's shenanigans and all, everyone is now going to be forced to endure jj if they want a good spot for pj, rather than packing up and heading home early on sunday...though I'm sure just as many if not more will go ahead and do just that with wsp closing now...
and SUPERDRAG! anybody? that was a huge WTF for me, but in a very awesome way...
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."

Just as long as Claypool doesn't bring Gabby La La!
I was hoping when waking up this morning that there would be something more. I can't believe they followed up Coachella's Prince announcement with these 'Big' additions. Don't get me wrong, WSP and Claypool are big, and great acts, but not for the hype that was built around it. They are fantastic artist additions for Roo, but certainly lack in the ABB replacement category.

this sucks..I had plans to stay til monday, I was gonna relax a listen to JJ Sunday night..now I guess we're either leaving early or sitting hanging in the camp sunday night.
Yep. I'm IN freaking PR and that's the sum of this equation. WSP surprising anyway is like Coachella teasing into a major announcement that Cameron Diaz is drunk backstage.
Zimmy will explain. Thank you for your kindness and good humor. DjjD has been to all B'roos but one- and hopes to see you this summer. If some of the big acts aren't your cup of Darjeeling- follow me and I'll show you some great stuff. If you can't make it this year-- I have already heard some rumors for next year. Congrats to the clue solvers. If you feel you solved a clue- PM moi.
Thanks Skol.

Yes Superdrag...and all the talk about Knoxville on here and I never put the two together. I am way excited to see them again. The show last October in Knoxville was great! That one totally threw me off. More than the WSP thing.
I would also like to add, I know how disappointed people are with spending all this time on clues and such just to get WSP. I just think of it as a fun game and a way to pass the time. We will now get to speculate what the super jam and schedules are going to be like. Many more people will be happy, more people will be disappointed but Roo will be here before you know it so buck up and quit your belly aching!

Thanks dj for all of the effort, even if your clues were a little obscure . I still have to know if hobbie targets are clay pigeons...
I'm bummed that I stayed up late to find out ABB was traded for WSP. Really was looking forward to seeing the Allmans, and hoped the replacement would be as good (imo).

I am not at all disappointed in these clues. That game was a lot of fun and I commend DjjD for entertaining us.
I am, however, disappointed that Superfly would lay claim to making a "big announcement" and then do something like this. I'm honestly less excited about Bonnaroo - Jack Johnson now has a shorter set that stands to conflict with one of the other 4 bands I want to see.

JD, once again I thank you.
Also, if you could please let your superiors know that a poll of the inforoo community (their most dedicated fans) showed an overwhelming 79% of people didn't find this announcement to be "big". This was out of 110 people, so the margin of error is high (9%), but I think it's relatively accurate (if not inflated, considering the number of WSP fans we have here). I'll stop complaining if they put JJ back in the headliner spot and WSP that hour and a half before Pearl Jam. I can understand being disappointed by a "big" announcement, but this actually makes the festival worse for many of us. Jack Johnson has a shorter set time and now stands to conflict with other shows. Like I said before - weak sauce.

im not a huge jack johnson fan but it made sense to me to get mellow listening to him sunday night. also, i definitely wanted to get to pj early so i could get prime spot....now im gonna have to get to jj early to do that and there are other good acts id rather see. i bought this ticket hoping to see as many of my fav artists as possible but the lineup is making that more and more difficult to do....especially if i care about getting prime seats to certain shows.
I'm going to be in the same position your in. I don't really know Jack Johnsons music that well but had planned on checking him out anyway now i'm really going to have to go. I want to be up close for Pearl Jam so it's going to be interesting.
Something I don't get, well besides which universe WSP would be considered a "big announcement in." In hindsight the "not all herrings are red, jimmy" clue sure seems to point to WSP guitarist Jimmy Herring. That clue came out in early February. So WSP was going to be there all along? That means they're not some big last minute make up for the Allmans addition. Here's a clue for the promoters. There's a recession on, and there's a lot more strong festivals out there than even a year or two ago. If you want to sell tickets, you better have an amazing lineup. Roo has to me a great middle lineup, I fully expect some overlap of bands I want to see mid-day. But at the top end, the lineup is weak compared to other festivals. People pay the huge festival ticket price for the HEADLINERS, the middle stuff is just gravy. Good luck selling tickets without another actual "big" addition, one that the ticket buyer thinks is big, not the promoter.

In hindsight, I suppose "big" news doesn't have to mean good news... I was really digging the idea of closing with Jack Johnson, just because it would be so chill to end the weekend on a mellow note. I would have preferred Jack prior to my 12-hour drive home.
Not that anyone cares, but my $.02 on the clue game was that it was mucho fun, but in the latest round, I don't think we actually guessed any artists from the clues. B Detective got the WSP answer from his Huggy Bear sources. Why not provide solvable clues for your most interested (if not most loyal) fans with some inside scoop and let us feel like we "cracked the case" a day or two in advance, especially for such a minor announcement? There was no way we were guessing some of those. "clouds taste like this" is a good clue level - it's solvable. Smokin Dave was solvable, but guessing who they opened for in Knoxville was not. Overall I enjoyed the time waste, it was a great penalty kill.
