looks like i'm going solo again this year. did the same last year. most of my friends are either not huge music/festival fans or are into indie/punk rock so i can't find anybody to go with me. last year i bought VIP the day the roo started and i had a blast. front row for all the bands i really wanted to see, and i wasn't waiting around for people all day. it still gets a little lonley though not being able to share the excitement of a killer show. my wife is pregnant now so she can't go this year. i have an extra VIP that i'll probably throw up on ebay. anyway, any meetups going down or anything?

There will probably be a few meetups in the official Inforoo campground and I hope to make it out there to meet some of you folks. I may be going solo, my fiance is flying to Paris to see her family on June 1st and she hasn't decided when she's coming back or how long she'll be there. I would actually love to go to something like this alone. Total freedom with nothin but your favorite people around you, ya know?
it was pretty fun. i never was able to get front row for many of my fav artists because i always had like 5 people to consider or to wait on. solo, although i had to wait an extra hour or two, i was front row for everybody i wanted to see because i didn't have to worry about anybody. ttoal freedom to move when and wherever you want. i had fun, but at times found myself talking to myself! i like to look over at a friend and reflect at how awesome a jam was. still, i did manage to meet some cool peeps. i'm a little bit of a social recluse so i'm not one to just walk up to people and introduce myself and start hanging out. anyway, solo is fun, but would love to mett up for a little while.
I'll probably be going solo to roo... even when I do go with a group to a festival I usually break away from them eventually for a couple reasons - first, I can bounce from stage to stage a lot quicker and set my own schedule. also, I like to worm my way up front to be close to the stage for the acts I really like, and my friends are much more mellow. they don't like being packed like sardines
I went solo to '04 and had a blast. You meet so many more people that way, because you're not just hanging out w/ your group and are sort of forced to make friends with people if you want someone to talk to.
I do agree that it can get lonely.. especially for those late night sets where all you want is a familiar face next to you to jam out with.

I've been to a bunch of fests and shows solo... There came a point where i realized that i shouldnt be missing shows just cause my friends are broke ass lamers and/or dont want to go as bad as i do... Its fun to drag friends to festies and stuff but it sucks to feel like someone is tagging along with you or vice versa.... I always seems to meet and camp with alot of other people who also came alone when im solo, its like the loners just end up together, kinda cool... Bottom line is once you get there you're never solo, except when you want to be which is nice...
I have a pretty good sized group im going to Wakarusa with and some of the same to Bonnaroo as well this year and we're pretty much all strangers... Theres one couple, a few groups of 2 and 3 friends and a handfull of solo peeps myself included... We'll be in 3 cars and have a cabin reserved for a night in TN right before roo and maybe even a campground on the way to KS as well... Should be a GREAT time and it will save us all alot of money grouping together...
