Led Zeppelin will not play together again until at least September, according to the band’s guitarist Jimmy Page.
Speaking in Tokyo this morning (January 28th), Page said that Robert Plant’s touring commitments with Alison Krauss were currently the frontman’s main priority.
"I can assure you the amount of work that we put into the O2 (concert), for ourselves rehearsing and the staging of it, was probably what you put into a world tour," Page told Reuters. Story continues below...
"Robert Plant also had a parallel project running and he's really busy with that project, certainly until September, so I can't give you any news."
Reminiscing about the concert, which saw over 1 million people register for just 9000 pairs of tickets, the guitarist described the experience as “exhilarating” and “fantastic”.
“Every week was a week to look forward to, we did the show and it was great,” he added
As someone on this board posted earlier, Page has flat out lied about stuff like this before. Just sayin'...
I'll be totally honest. I kind of don't want Zep to be there. I love em as much as the next guy and it would amazing to see them live. Something to tell the grandkids. But the idea of fighting for Roo tickets, camping around a bunch of kids just there to see Zep, and the logistical nightmares of how insane the show would be (not to mention the danger. Think 99 Woodstock), i feel like Zep playing roo would be more detrimental to a lot of traditional rooer's time than it would be worth. I hope they play a show all of their own somewhere in the states but not at roo. Then again, I have all the faith in the world in Superfly's ability to put on a good show and I am sure that, if they do play, they will make sure it is done the right way. I just want a good show! It's about a lot more than one band anyway!
^now what if they play bonnaroo 09? say they start touring in september... and end up at the farm in june.. i think a lot more people will want to see them on their own and it wouldnt be as much of an issue... that is of course if they begin their world tour in the us...

^^^But he also said that Plant will not be available until after his tour with Kruass, AND he said that anything they do will take a lot of planning and rehearsing.
Come on, people! Led Zeppelin will not be at Bonnaroo 2008. I'd be willing to make a serious bet on that.

True, Plant won't be available because of the Krauss tour but that doesn't matter during Roo because they'll be there anyway. He also said that they already planned and rehearsed for the london gig as much as they would for a world tour. So... i'm betting a glowstick.
I say Page is telling the truth. Plant has always been against a reunion, saying he would never tour as Led Zeppelin again. It was always his opinion that Led Zep died with Bonzo. So the fact that he is even talking reunion is amazing. He seems to want to take things one step at a time, so I don't think he will be doing anything this summer except touring with Krause. I think if anything goes down at Roo it will be JPJ joining in with Plant/Krause.

I see, there's confusion. I believe what Page meant was that the amount of planning/rehearsing that they did for O2 is what they will also do when they prepare to tour. And I'll take that bet!

Plant said Zeppelin wasn't reuniting as late as September last year, even though they had been practicing since the June before.
I believe nothing they say.
I ask again, would you be so dismissive of their statements if they said something you wanted to hear? You seem to believe they will be putting on a world tour, even though the only evidence of that thus far is Page's own words, which you never believe.

It aint happening. Time to unsticky this thread and move on. I bet that the most we see from Plant ,aside from his set with Allison, will be a one or two song sit-in with B.B. or someone else cool.

Funny you should post that. It came up on my Google News Alert yesterday and I got all excited. I was about to post it here when I noticed the date on the article... 12/31/07. I figured there was enough evidence out there now to prove the story "highly suspect", so I didn't post.
It's an excellent find and good post. I'm still hoping! Karma for posting it.
