Not to be an ass but I am thinking that Superfly and AC have had the headliners booked for awhile now. Months to be honest.I know...I know..It's Zepp. Things can be changed but at what cost. How Much money would they loose at this point to say "Hey... Your still playing you just arn't headlining." So if somebody else backs out are they not responsible to pay them the ammount of the contract? I'm just wondering? If they are in.They are in.
If I remember correctly, wasn't The Police a (relatively) last-minute addition last year?
Also, I was browsing a Bonnaroo thread on Red Mosquito (a Pearl Jam message board) and someone posted claiming to have seen a list of all of the bands playing on Saturday, with LZ at the top of the list. Take it with a huge grain of salt, but this is the "rumors" thread, after all

i'm just curious as to why everyone thinks john paul jones will definitely be back at roo...because he was there last year? i've got friends who have been saying since july "we know john paul jones will be back next year"...really, how do you know that? i'm sure he loved the whole experience as much as we do, but i'm not sure there is any definite that he will be back...
and just so you know, i'm one of the biggest zeppelin fans you'll ever meet, so i'd love nothing more than for all of them to be there

First off, ill start by saying that if Robert Plant and Allison Krausse will be at roo, that puts Robert Plant there, then, i was just reading in Q that JPJ is producing the girl in Nicklecreek album which is due out in a couple months, so that possibly puts JPJ at the roo like last year, because he was there last year because of Uncle Earl, and Jimmy Paige and Jason Bohnam are the only two that have been down to tour since day one, so asking them to come to the roo to do it wouldnt be that hard....secondly, the superjam is technically a formation of roo artist to perfomr one hell of a show, but two years ago we had an actual band do the superjam...(Grab) and with Jason Bohnam playing drums that would make it the not offical Zep lineup therefore making ok for them to do superjam....also and lastly i dont think superfly is stupid enough to put a name like Zepplin on the lineup because of the sellout factor and how fast it will sellout, but i can see them announcing that they are doing the superjam a couple weeks before the roo like they announced last year with the JPJ Ben Harper and Questlove set....just some random thoughts i have been thinking about lately sorry to rant, i figured id put this in the thread its suppose to be in

Nope. Very first addition. Some people actually wondered aloud if the reason why the lineup was so delayed last year was the fact they had to wait for The Police to announce their headlining status before releasing the lineup.

No, what I meant was that I thought they were booked relatively last minute. I can't find the quote right now, but I remember reading one of the promoters saying that they booked The Police much later than they usually book headliners because the band didn't decide to reunite until just a few months before the lineup was to be announced.
The point I'm trying to make is that it's possible for there to be a similar situation with Zeppelin. Sorry, should have been clearer.

i had sent an email to bonnaroo requesting that they dont announce LZ, (or phish for that matter...if they do come) until later simply for the sellout factor...well i was taking a nap and superfly/ac contacted me via mind powers and told me dont worry about tickets selling out, those who want to goto bonnaroo will get to goto bonnaroo we'll get our chance.....but i could have gotten messages crossed with someone elses dream....i mean mind powers. peace

I wonder who would have headlined last year had the Police reunion not materialized. I'd imagine it would've been someone who appeared last year still, right? Ben Harper? White Stripes?
Also, does that mean that there is currently a potential headliner who might be playing a supporting role this year? I.e., do we have a late-night or pre-headliner who Superfly thought could anchor a day all by themselves? Cause that would be awesome . . .

what excites me the most is, i wonder who, if santana plays, will play along with him
Buddy Guy? BB King? Eric Clapton? Victor Wooten? Warren Haynes? Derek Trucks?
all of them?
Well, we know Riley will be there, and he's my top choice, with EC a close second. The rest don't excite me as much only because I expect to be seeing them often over the next few years. Of course, all would be welcome. ;D

This does not make any sense. They do want to sell as many tickects as possible. In the past they have offered free tickects to thoose who convince others to go to BONNAROO. Sorry I dont mean to be a jerk but if LZ is heading the fest than expect a similar situation to The Police last year. Also if an I mean IF LZ is playing BONNAROO they will be doing a North American tour as well.

They do want to sellout, but based on the 20 million hits that the ondon show got, if zep was announced at this point then a similar thing would happen, and superfly doesnt want that, as in they dont want 20 million hits in one day, that leaves no room for suprise for them, and superfly loves to suprise us.

If they want to sell as many tickets as posssible, why did they reduce the number of tickets, even though they have sold out every year, whether the Police or LZ were there or not?

I don't think it's a matter of selling out...I think it's a matter of selling out to tried and true bonnaroo fans. If it's zepplin and they don't work the ticketing carefully they will sell out quickly to a lot of ZEPP FANS just there to see them, not neccessarily roo fans there for the whole festival which isn't fair.
I hope they don't headline (no offense to rooer's that love them) because it will have a huge effect on the rest of the festival and one headliner is not worth changing the canvas of the whole fest.
This may be a bit dramatic but hey I'm protective!
