you think bb king will headline? i know he's the king, but i don't see him alone headlining, i've never seen him live, but i'm sure he could headline, maybe clapton and king, that'd be cool, i'm thinking bb could be the pre-headliner of plant and krauss, i think they'll end up headlining saturday night

You get what I was hinting. I think Roo' has something really cool up their sleeve for us thats actually NOT Zeppelin.
I will say it's going to be some arrangement of these guys (not all, but some);
B.B. King, Santana, Buddy Guy, Victor Wooten, Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Taj Mahal, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, and dare I say it; Jimmy Page. (If only Mike Bloomfield, Duane Allman, or T-bone were still with us, I would probably have a heart attack )

I dont think BB King or Plant/Krauss have the name-power to Headline. I think Plant and Krauss would go well in the Ben Harper spot from last year, and BB King...hm...with his age, I can't imagine him not being in a tent. Probably sunday, I'd guess.

I like the way you think Mulcherry... and damn would I love to see Taj Mahal again in a festival setting..

I completely agree on your placement of Plant and Krauss... that'd be the perfect spot.
I do, however, believe that BB King -especially along with friends mentioned- has plenty of "name-power" to be a headlining spot. You're talking about people that will go down as Rock/Blues/Jam LEGENDS, no exaggeration. I can only hope that this will happen... It'd be like Crossroads in Tennessee!
They said the tour will start after Glastonbury. That doesn't necessarily mean they won't be playing another festival date between now and then. I would consider the Glastonbury announcement to make the possibility of a Zeppelin headlined Roo stronger rather than weaker.

^^^I appreciate your optimism, but I don't see the logic. Are you saying because a tour has now officially been announced? That's nothing that most insiders haven't already been predicting. To read between the lines, for the band to say they will begin their tour in July is tantamount to saying they won't be touring in June. If they were to play Bonnaroo as a one-off before officially beginning their tour at Glastonbury, that would create the havoc that many have feared. It would only be their second show, and their first in America. Not nestled into a tour, that would indeed cause 'roo to sell out quickly, and ticket prices to soar. I honestly don't think Superfly wants that, because they couldn't handle it. They might like to be as big as Glastonbury, but they are not there yet. So why do you think this should be considered positive news?

This is exactly what I see happening. B.B. King at dusk with Clapton/Winwood to follow. The Clapton/Winwood show would also have loads of special guests. There is no Crossroads music festival this year, so I could see this happening.

I'm not sure if anyone has already mentioned this, but all this about Zep at Glastonbury and an 18-month international tour has not been confirmed by the band. In fact, it goes against statements such as Bonham saying a tour is unlikely, and Michael Eavis (Glas. boss) saying Zep was too expensive. Right now, it's just highly publicized rumors from a supposedly good yet anonymous source.

That was a bit of an editorialization. Here's a part from one news item:
"However, conflicting reports suggest the band are not interested in a full tour, with drummer Jason Bonham recently describing the prospect of a prolonged reunion as "greedy"."
There's also this whole article in which Bonham essentially says that there's no reason whatsoever to expect a tour right now. It's from this past Tuesday.
^^^Bonham also all but said he had no say in the matter which is pretty much true. It's not like he's a busy in demand drummer waiting for his VH1 superband to reform. So I don't think Bonham talking means anything given his lack of stature in the band.
That said, I think you're misreading what I said. All I said was I don't understand the sudden loss of hope Zep fans are having about Bonnaroo given the band is actually playing a show in June. Before the band wasn't likely to play a show in 2008 period. It was pure speculation. Now they're playing Glastonbury and going on tour directly afterwards. They never said it will be a kickoff show. They never said they're not playing any dates between now and then. They just said there's going to be more dates after Glastonbury.
So yes, I think the Glastonbury news DOES make a Zeppelin appearance more likely than before. Does it make it likelier to happen than not overall, maybe not. But I don't think the hope of them playing before was real and now I think it has merit. Just my two cents.
And besides, if wouldn't it make sense for them to announce world tour ticket dates NOW if they were going to play Bonnaroo thereby cutting down the chances that the show has tix availability issues. Bonnaroo isn't announcing dates until Feb. If a world tour announcement comes for Zeppelin between now and then, I think the likelihood of them playing Roo increases even further.
It's all still rumors, nothing is confirmed, so I'm not disapointed nor excited. Personally, I see them playing Glastonbury over 'Roo, but I'm going to stay optimistic about them being at 'Roo this year or next. Hey, either way I guarantee the lineup to be a great one this year.

I sorry, but I disagree. The fact that a band (any band) plays some other venue(s) does not take away from Bonnaroo. If anything, it keeps out the non-festie types that are only attending for the one show.
I definitely agree with that. I'd love to see 'em at Roo in '08, but they would completely overwhelm anyone else there in terms of publicity, attention, etc, so maybe it's just as well if it doesn't happen. Yet.

how about steve winwood also being a part of that jam with bb king, clapton, etc...if any of you saw the crossroads festival (i watched some on pbs) winwood was there, and clapton has said that he wants to play a few more shows with him as a blind faith kind of thing...i think that would be awesome...

i think it would be fucking awesome if they brought something like that crossroads fest to bonnaroo...but then again, this is bonnaroo and not crossroads....however, in the end it's still an amazing show...basically a superjam of the best in blues...that would be a great saturday night headliner at bonnaroo....but is there a way that they could make it a little different and better, just so they don't repeat crossroads?
p.s. - i would really love to hear clapton playing layla next year at bonnaroo...i love that song so much...
Am I the only one who doesn't want super-groups to play @ bonnaroo? I LOVE and would give one of my kidneys to see pink floyd live (I did see roger waters: dark side of the moon @ Tampa), but I just don't want bonnaroo too get a super-group to come where the majority of the fans at bonnaroo are ONLY there for them.
I.e.; if Phish were to re-unite and play at bonnaroo... bonnaroo would sell out in a day and it would be only fans of Phish. Now I feel that if Led Zepplin were to re-unite they would at least sell half the place out (similar to Pink Floyd). Though, The Police did play here last year and they didn't sell the place out, and I could just be paranoid, but does anyone else feel this way?
