"When I was 4 years old, they tried to test my IQ. They showed me a picture of three oranges and a pear. They asked me which one is different, and does not belong. They taught me different....is wrong." -- Ani Difranco
Yet it is in this loneliness that the deepest activities begin. It is here that you discover act without motion, labor that is profound repose, vision in obscurity, and, beyond all desire, a fulfillment whose limits extend to infinity.

1. Ingrid Michaelson 2. John Prine 3. Tinariwen 4. Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers and Tenacious D 5. Jay-z 6. Medeski, Martin, and Wood 7. Dan Deacon 8. 9. 10. Manchester Orchestra D. Z. Gwar
1. The White Stripes - my 2nd live Stripes show. Words really cannot explain how great these two are live and how their CD sound does not even come close to showing how good their music is. Loved it. 2. Tool - my face is still melting. 3. The Police - great sound, I danced, I grooved it was good to see them. 4. Ziggy Marley - not a reggae fan but loved this. 5. Manchester Orchestra - they played the Blue Room Cafe somewhere between Ziggy and Ben Harper, they were great.
Honorable mentions to Sam Roberts Band, Regina Spektor (even though during her set the tards in the troo music lounge were blasting so I couldn't make out what she was singing half the time), Wilco, Lily Allen and Ben Harper's encore with Ziggy even though I wasn't impressed with the rest of his set (sorry, I just don't "get" the buzz around Harper).
1. Mute Math- incredible high energy act, with full stage destruction upon the conclusion of their set 2. The Decemberists- very impressive performance 3. Rodrigo y Gabriela- once of the most fun i've had at a show in a long time 4. Micheal Franti & Spearhead- best live act on the scene today, hands down 5. Tool- great setlist, lights and ambience

Kings of Leon - solid show..these guys have gotten their live chops S & D - wow. and i'm not a techo type of guy. stayed until 530am Ratdog - nice change of pace.. some great dead songs on a warm sunday afternoon- good times Wilco - liked their new album.. after seeing the songs live, LOVE the new album Superjam - crowded as hell... but worth it.
mild disappointments-
white stripes - i love WS.. have seen them 10 times.. but i think between the largeness of the crowd, and being unable to get a clear view of the stage really dampened things for me. i think this show on the main stage would had rocked- you've got be be able to see Jack and Meg interact on stage..
police - just wasnt into it. like the band, but their show seemed very blah to me..
cold war kids - set was okay.. but man, those friday shows in the early afternoon are packed. between that pre-shower heat and the mob scene in the tent, it was tough to get into it..
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
1) Ben Harper- it looked like he gave is heart and soul into that performance. It was awesome. I came back a fan!
2) Ziggy Marley- The feeling there was wonderful. The sun drove me to the mist tent..but still had a good view of the screen and could hear just fine.
3) The Police- I know in the minority on this it seems like...but I liked it.
4) Old Crow- did not hear the whole set but what I did I really enjoyed.
5) Dierks Bently- no I am not ashamed to list the "country band" ;D Loved the show, made my way to the front...could have touched him I was so close.
I will throw in the Lewis Black show. We went on Thursday night, 2nd show. Yes we had to wait to get in, but it was colder than heck in there and 3 out of the 4 people were really funny. The one older, bald man..drawing a blank on his name..not funny..I think he was messed up because he just made no sense.

1- Rod Y Gab (holy sh!t, that blew me away) 2- The Roots (I was expecting to see 15 minutes and leave but i was very impressed, that bassist dude that was chewing cigar was the nutz) 3- John Butler Trio (the only time i was truly dancing hardcore, "you are legends") 4- Tool (wow! thanks for the request deputy sheriff David Cross) 5- OCMS (I didn't expect it to be so packed, what great show)
gotta give love to Panic too, those first three songs lasted over an hour.
1) John Butler Trio -- I am in awe of what a great musician he is. This set was the closest I was to the What Stage and the show was intense.
2) Ben Harper -- Shame on me for not listening to more of Ben Harper before Bonnaroo... now I'm in love. Not to mention how much his collaboration with John Paul Jones rocked.
3) Regina Spektor -- Gorgeous voice. It was cute when she screwed up her songs... "F--k! I could do this in my bedroom..."
4) Paolo Nutini -- Another act I had only heard very little from, but by chance we stopped at his show and ended up staying for the rest of the set. He is very entertaining and had so much energy!
5) Michael Franti -- Couldn't see the stage (sat behind the beer vendor in the shade) but the music was fabulous. Also got entertained by a hula-hoop girl right in front of us.
5) Dierks Bently- no I am not ashamed to list the "country band" ;D Loved the show, made my way to the front...could have touched him I was so close.
I went to this show because I wanted to see Manu Chao and wanted to kill some time before he started. I was really impressed and enjoyed the 30 or so minutes I spent watching Dierks Bentley, someone who pre-roo I questioned even being on the lineup.
