1. The Roots- I still can't get over this. SO unexpected, and blew me awaaaay, 2. The Decemberists- Mariners Revenge->The Tain. OWNS MY LIFE. And "The Weight" with Mavis Staples! Gaaaaah. 3. Feist- "Sealion" is all I really need in my life. Such a carefree, fun, rocking set. 4. FLips- It seems weird that they're only 4th (only!) because the show was ridiculous, but Wayne's speechifying got tiresome at times. "War Pigs" kicked my ass all over town though. 5. Superjam- come on now. COME ON.
other awesome sets: Regina, Xavier Rudd (the half I saw ), Dubconcious, Cold War Kids, Damien, Rod y Gab, Galactic... seriously everyone I saw. Wasn't let down by any of them.

1) John Butler Trio - simply put, one of the best hours of my entire life. 2) Tool - Everything I expected - the Morello solo was ridiculous. 3) Sasha & Digweed - no comment.... ;D 4) Ziggy Marley - the atmosphere out on the main stage lawn was almost surreal, with everyone dancing around and singing. 5) Kings of Leon - Saw them at the '05 Roo and they have come a helluva long way...they were awesome.
The Flaming Lips - Surreal The National - Great Way to Kick it off Cold War Kids - Destined to be huge The White Stripes - Classic Girl Talk - Wasn't expecting it, but just such a fun time that I can't leave it off
The Police, Kings of Leon, Tool, Superjam, Wilco, and The Hold Steady are also worth mentioning

05 - Sound Tribe Sector 9: I am not a dancer; I am not good at dancing; In fact, I hate dancing... God damnit, I was dancing during STS9. DAMN YOU STS9!!! I mean, I felt this music. Not in the cheesy "oh I can relate to that theme, lyric, and/or melody" way, rather the bass actually vibrated my skeletal system, and Damn it felt good.
04 - Regina Spektor: There was something wholesomely intimate about her set. It was almost as if I forgot that I was among thousands and thousands of people at a commercial (don't mean that in an negative way per-se) music festival and instead thought myself chilling in her living room listening to her bang away on her Yamaha--complete with the "oh shit haha I messed up let's try that verse again".
03 - Michael Franti & Spearhead: I had heard a few Spearhead songs before, but I didn't expect this set to be as good as it was. The music was constantly solid, and the Sesame Street cover in the middle of the Sublime cover will remain one of my favorite Bonnaroo moments.
02 - Ween: They're one of my absoulte favorite bands. In fact, they're probably the tipping point that finally brought me to purchasing such an expensive concert ticket. While I wasn't as close as I would have liked to have been (and that I saw them play a better show at the Tabernacle in Atlanta last year), they're still an utterly fun band to experience live. And there is nothing greater than to be at a live show of one of your absolute favorite bands whilst bellowing every lyric (minus the instrumentals) to every song.
01 - The Flaming Lips: I hardly even heard a Flaming Lips song before. But at Bonnaroo, they floored me. And I was in the front pit too, which probably added to that first time hearing experience. Anyway, in the span of a week I went from never hearing this band to them being one of my absolute favorites. Very rarely do I experience moments of pure bliss such as that.

1) Mavis Staples - amazing. I danced the whole time, absolutely loved it! She played "The Weight" as well and "May the Circle Be Unbroken" was one of the best performances of the festival! 2) The Police - Not 1st, but it was THE POLICE...and I really liked their set list. "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" made me very happy 3) The Flaming Lips - sensory overload, and a jaw-dropping performance 4) The Roots - so much fun, I danced the entire time 5) SUPERJAM - John Paul Jones, 20 min Dazed and Confused...what more do I have to say?
1. string cheese incident. by far and away the greatest show i have ever seen in my life. we left tool an hour in and got a great spot. it was nice to lay there for a couple of hours resting and bsing with friends. and im glad i got that rest. i havent done anything that athletic in a decade. i danced as hard as i ever have for the entire set. it was the craziest show i have ever been at at any fest. plenty of glowsticks made it in. they were even raging tanks in the crowd. ive never seen gas inside centeroo before. i was dancing too much to bother with that crap though. but it was an insane vibe there. getting to see them with keller and doing little hands made my whole roo. if i only saw that one song it would have been worth the price.
2. mule - amazing show. i really loved the sweet leaf and warpig encore. i wasnt into mule when i saw them in the afternoon at roo but that show was insane.
3. wide spread - only caught a little bit before going to camp but it sounded great at camp too.
4. rodrigo y gabriella - couldnt decide on this or tlg. but i am glad i went to this. amazing show. and that screen is one of the coolest things i have seen.
5. id have to go with a 3 way tie for 5th. (i know thats cheating) i loved franti but its the same show he puts on everywhere. i wish hed change things up a little more. but still great. uncle earl was amazing. i loved that show. and hot tuna was amazing too. also sam roberts was good stuff too. so 4 way tie
1. TOOL - by far the best show I've ever seen live. Regarding the comment about the sound being bad up front, I was near the back, and I thought the sound quality was amazing. One of the best experiences of my life.
2. Mute Math - they absolutely win for best thing I heard for the first time at bonnaroo. Andthier live act totally outshines their studio recordnig as well. While the album is good, the show was one of the better performances I've ever seen.
3. Flaming Lips - I've never listend to as much of thier music as I know I'd like to, so I made sure to check them out at bonnaroo. They put on a wonderful show, and, though different in type entirely from the intensity and rapture of the TOOL set, their performance played out as one of the best, most inviting experiences I had at Bonnaroo.
4. Ralph Stanly & Clinch Mountain Boys - this one kinda goes in the "Glad I got to see him before he dies" category. I guess other shows were more impressive, but this guy's a legend, and it was awe-inspiring just to hear him perform and tell stories from a lifetime of music.
5. There were many other acts that I enjoyed, but none come close to the above 4. Ween, Dixie Dirt, DJ Shadow, The Roots (which I kinda heard from my tent). . . . Oh, and I had a great time jamming to bluegrass at the mountaintop removal booth next to the solar stage.
5. Flaming Lips - While, not exactly a great show musically, this was one of the most fun shows I've ever been to. Non-stop insanity the whole way through, and Wayne's incoherent babbling was freaking hilarious: "..the sphere of life..."
4. DJ Shadow - While I could have definately gone without all the new stuff, his classics were played to perfection, and, once again, it was an incredibly fun show. I came into this a DJ Shadow fan, and left a bit more of one. Seeing all the hippies trying to hippie-dance to that sh*t was funny as hell. Interesting group of folks at that show. Fun time.
3.Ornette Coleman - I think enough has been said of the tragedy, so I'll refrain; If the show would have gone it's alloted length, I think it would have been my favorite show of the weekend. I'd never seen a free-jazz concert before this one, and wow. I don't think I'll ever see anything that good ever again. And you could tell that Ornette was very grateful from the amazing ovation of the crowd. After his first song, he looked damn near tears. That is true passion. Highly inspirational.
2. Tool - One of my favorite bands ever, and my first concert experience with them was this one. Do I really need to explain why I love this? If you're a Tool fan, you understand. Coleman's concert notwithstanding, this should be my number one of the weekend... but there is a small factor that threw that off; Tools *ahem* and trash.
1. Tortoise - Amazing, amazing, amazing show. The band was so into it, the playing was dead on, crowd interation was there, even though there are no vocals. We were up front, the very front, and I noticed how loud the bass drum sounded on the speakers... during the show, I didn't care, the music was too good. But all weekend I had a ringin' in my ears.I'd say an even trade for seeing one of the best all around shows I've ever seen.
