Hey, I was just wondering what great new bands people saw at this year's 'Roo that they had never heard before. I found two bands that totally rocked and were a blast to watch that I had never heard a single note from before Bonnaroo.
First was Gogol Bordello. I just wandered up to this show hearing it going nuts and stood and watched... Wow... I only caught the last three song but... wow... I will definitely be seeing a full set from these folks as soon as I get a chance.
The second was The Dynamites, which were in a late night Troo gig. Some friends asked us to come check them out and the place was about half empty when they started playing. By the second song they had the place packed. By the third people were flowing out the sides and everyone was dancing and jumping around and having an awesome time. Super funky! I even went and bought the CD (which absolutely has to be played LOUD to feel as good as it is, so crank that mutha up!).
For me, these were some of the best experiences of going to 'Roo. I was totally blown away by a lot of bands but most of what I saw I had at least heard a couple songs from if not multiple albums. These two, though, came outta nowhere for me and nocked my socks off!
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

Annuals put on a kickass show, despite being delayed by technical difficulties. best new discovery, and fav show of the weekend. maybe just because i was so geeked that they were so into their performance.
First Brazilian Girls and then Gogol Bordello. I'm definitely to see Gogol @ the House of Blues Cleveland in July. Saw the last half or so and was just completely blown away with the energy and excitement. I got some great pictures of guys just outside the tent dancing very funny. GREAT SUCCESS!
When I got home, AT&T is using a BG song in a blackberry commercial.

Even though I had heard them before, The Black Keys and the Annuals stole my rock heart this weekend. The Keys just ripped that guitar a few more a$$holes in their performance, and the Annuals rocked their set despite all the sound difficulties they were having to still put on one of the best of the weekend.
