Basically every band has someone starting a thread about how they're unmissable, so I'm going to consolodate all that here to see what the general consensus is about what bands should not be missed. We'll put it to a inforooer vote. You get to vote for up to three groups. Saying why you're voting for them is great, as is debating other peoples' choices, but make it very clear who you're voting for. You can take scheduling into account if you want, but voting for Tool, The Police, and Widespread Panic only because they're so easy to see kind of defeats the purpose. I'll update this list periodically with your votes.
MUST-SEE GROUPS (9 updates) The White Stripes - 29 Tool - 24 The Flaming Lips - 23 String Cheese Incident - 20 The Police - 12 STS9 - 10 Wilco - 10 Gov't Mule - 10 Kings of Leon - 9 Manu Chao - 9 The Decemberists - 8 Ween - 8 The Black Keys - 7 Clutch - 7 Ornette Coleman - 7 Tortoise - 7 John Butler Trio - 5 Widespread Panic - 5 Galactic - 4 The Roots - 4 Xavier Rudd - 4 Ben Harper - 4 Damien Rice - 3 Michael Franti & Spearhead - 3 Mute Math - 3 David Cross - 2 The Hold Steady - 2 Hot Chip - 2 Old Crow Medicine Show - 2 The Philadelphia Experiment - 2 Rodrigo y Gabriela - 2 Sasha & John Digweed - 2 Tea Leaf Green - 2 Wolfmother - 2 The Annuals - 1 Brazillian Girls - 1 Cold War Kids - 1 Dierks Bentley - 1 DJ Shadow - 1 Dubconscious - 1 Feist - 1 Gogl Bordello - 1 Keller Williams - 1 Medeski and Martin - 1 North Mississippi All-Stars - 1 Regina Spektor - 1 Richard Thompson - 1 Sam Roberts - 1 The Slip - 1 Ziggy Marley - 1
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."

-Tool is my number 1, I have pretty much been listening to all of their albums the last few weeks at work while reading the lyrics (I have a lot of time at work I know) and just exstatic at finally getting to see them at no better of a place then roo. -Galactic is my number 2 (will miss a bit just because I know that Flaming Lips will be a party), but I am a big hip hop head and there are just too many great artists on that stage with Galactic as the back drop. I hope this goes on for awhile, it just pisses me off that Philly Experiment is at this time and not in an open tent like area. -The Roots are my number 3 must see because I have witnessed what they can do live and it is a magical thing.
It is really hard to narrow it down and I know I will see some amazing sets at roo. So cheers for being able to hear at sihtload of music in a 5 day span (house party that Wednesday with my boys from The Incredible Heat Machine, bring on tha heat!!!!)
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
