Nothing wrong with WSP but I would be a little upset if they played all 4 days. It would make the final day less of a must see for me first of all, second of all the would be taking time away from other possible bands that could be there, and also they are closing which is a pretty big deal. Nothing wrong with more music but I could only take 1 set of WSP and let it be the big blowout IMO.

yea, they headlined 2 nights 2 years ago. i watched the first ngiht but i don't like them enough to see them 2 times in a row. this year we will be leaving before they play because we have to get back home for work.
if they play all 4 nights sell my ticket now, i wouldn't mind seeing them once, but if they are the only band playing for 4 nights in a row i don't think i could deal with it
I think this is clearly a mistake, but hell, i would be happy. Maybe a set the first three mornings or afternoon, not necessarily headlining would be just fine. I would enjoy kicking off the day with some Panic.

Even if it was true it wouldn't matter. You can only see so many bands during a festival. As it stand, Panic would be playing time slots that would otherwise be occupied by other bands I would miss anyway.
Like any other festival you see alot of folks who are under the impression that they're going to see 60 sets. In reality its more like 10-20 depending on how well you and Superfly plan.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
First of all Pollstar LIES!!!! There's no way there headlining 4 days. That's just plain silly to even consider. Secondly, if they do end up closing (which is what it looks like to me). Whomever stays for that set is going to be in for a real treat. I'm a huge Panichead and if I know Panic there going to give it there absolute complete all just to keep up with the rest of the weekend. They will pull all the stops. And I can probably gaurantee a guest spot or 2! Thirdly, that year they headlined 2 nights was wierd. The first night was pretty bad IMO. But that second night was soooo amazing. When they ended after like 3 hours I was like wait that's it? No more? Peace Love and Music!

What is Bonnaroo's obsession with Widespread Panic? This is gonna be my fourth year, and every time they play, it seems like no one gives a rat's ass. Why do they constantly headline? There are soooo many bands that I would rather have headlining.

i would have agreed with you. i wasnt excited about either night in 05. but with jimmy herring they are putting on some of the best shows of anyone touring this summer. i cant wait to see them, definitely the headliner im most excited about. i think alot of people that havent gotten into wsp the past few years will be surprised at roo.

I'm with ya on this. In 05 I wasn't that pumped to see um, hell i only saw about 45mins combined of the 2 nites. This year they have Jimmy Herring and he is a badass. Everytime I've seen him, he has kicked my ass. I will definetly be there Sunday night to see um close out 'ROO with a bang.

imo, widespread is going to blow the other two headliners out of the water...they'll probably be the only headliner that actually fills the 3+ hour spot. and everytime i've seen wsp play, be it roo or otherwise everyone i've been groovin around "give's a rats ass." No doubt those dudes can play and they have hella fans
Yeah. When there jamming with Jimmy Herring (no offense to all you Housier fans) but they will go into there improv jam and it's cool and all and they just start doodling then Jimmy Herring will magically summon satan's guitar skillz from the depths of hell straight through his fingertips and start throwing mad licks at you so hard that they hit your forehead like an atomic bomb going off right in front of you and then you just realize that he's not even human and that he's some sort of half angel half demon sent here specifically to make WSP screw you real hard in the eardrum........ whew. Sorry, wait.... where am i?

chances are, you and the people you hang with actually know music. thats why they give a rats ass about Panic.
anyone who doesnt give a rats ass about Panic probably doesnt know much about them. or music in general.
and i apologize in advance, but LOLOLOL at anyone thinking that Painc, or any band, would play all four days of Bonnaroo (nevermind making a thread about it lol). thats just pure comedy right there. grow a brain and start thinking for yourself - i swear that it will help you in many areas of life.

What a sh!tty thing to say. Just because your opinions lean toward WSP means anyone who doesn't see eye to eye w/ you doesn't know anything about music? I've seen Panic 5 times at Roo, and I just don't like em. Nothing against their fans, but I just don't see (or hear) the appeal. So even though I've been a musician for 15 years, studied jazz classical and polular music in college, catch every concert I can in a bunch of different genres and have ammassed a music collection numbering more than 70,000 songs, I guess I don't know ANYTHING about music. Get yr head out of your ass, music fascist.

hmmmmmm. is it possible to give a rats ass about a talented musical group without being in love with their songs????????
the answer is yes. do i give a rats ass about the Beatles and Bob Dylan? you better believe i do. do i listen to their songs every single day? no. but i do have huge respect for what theyve done. and maybe Panic isnt the most influential group in history, they have certainly influenced lots of very talented bands.
now do you get it? i will take no reply as a "yes, sir i realize how dumb i just was".
btw, youre the friggin music facist with you 15 years in a band, 70k song crap. get out of here with that. grow a brain.

F*ck off, kemosabe. Putting WSP in w/ Dylan and the Beatles is f*cking pathetic. Name one band WSP has influenced that I should give a sh!t about.
I simply pointed out how stupid you sound by saying anybody who knows ANYTHING about music must respect Panic. I don't. I think Panic is watered-down Southern Rock that hasn't been an influence anywhere that better bands like the Allman Bros. and The ARS havent already permeated, but I never knocked on you or anybody else for liking WSP. Your fascist attitude makes you the one who sounds stupid. just don't tell me what I do and don't know, asshat. And I will never call you "sir," kemosabe. Get off your f*cking soap box.

all arguing aside.. i think farmerben said it best: it'd be awesome to get a 3 or 4 song panic set every morning around 10 or 11 to kick off each day's festivities. i know i'd dig it. i'm with a lot of you that say that panic isn't your fave, but this is a different band with jimmy herring.

I am looking fortward to seeing Panic wth a new guitarist, especially someone w/ as much buzz around him as Herring. I hope he lives up to the hype, I would love to be turned around on the whole WSP thing by a great guitar player. We'll see in June. I can't wait.

comparing Panic to the Beatles and Dylan was me exaggerating to prove a point.
and my point was that you dont have to like a band to respect them. i dont need to sit here and rattle off bands they influenced just so you will realize that they deserve respect. do some research yourself if youre really that interested.
just cuz you dont like a band doesnt mean that they dont deserve respect. and i maintain my original point that you probably dont know much about Panic. or maybe you do and still dont like them. whatever. thats why i used the word 'probably'.
