I have to say that even with all the debate(sometimes a bit heated) going on about the lineup Inforoo is still a great community for people to be a part of. Most people have something to say about why they feel a certain way and i feel that this board is pretty free of people posting with the sole purpose of argument. I dont see alot of insulting going on and pretty minimal blatent flaming that you see SO often on other sites. People seem to, for the most part stay on topic and wrap up most debates in a civil manner.
This years changes are bound to cause friction between a group of music fans who feel they're being left behind by Bonnaroo and another, who couldnt be more pleased with way things are changing. No im not reffering to any sort of genre, label or scene im talking about people. When you want to bark at someone try to put yourself in their shoes, try to understand why they might not hear you, and always listen to yourself first.
I second that. I just really feel like one of the ones who is being left behind. I wish i could be excited about round 4 and future additions but, it just doesnt seem like its going to happen. I mean this is just not what i would expect to see, alot of other people i think feel the same way, added to bonnaroo. I guess I just didnt want bonnaroo to change. I liked it just the way it was. I think if Coachella this year had had the complete line up of Bonnaroo 03' with a little bit of indie rock and other coachella regulars, all the fans of the Coachella festival would be kind of upset.

i would like to agree.... some of us have gone back and forth and gotten into tit for tats but i love inforoo...even when it does boil down to yer wrong and im right type stuff it is only out of a passion for something we care about, and is done in a relatively civil manner as oppsed to the rest of the web.... it is almost impossible to make posts that everyone can actually feel what it is that you are trying to convey... i just want all of you to know that i dont agree wit all of you all the time(i know thats a 2way street) but anyone who is active and interested in roo enough to be in these boards chattin it up is cool by me..if we met up at roo we would not be bickering about anything, thats what i love about roo ... so peace to everyone.........

I can see what you're saying. I'm stoked to be able to experience such a different mix of music in the outdoor atmosphere/crowd that is Bonnaroo. I can understand wanting it to stay the same, but I'm all for change. It's a chance to experience something new in a place that you can count on to be awesome. Discovering new artists is a good thing. And there are PLENTY of straight-jam summer festivals to go to as well.
I'm starting to find and love the atmosphere around this place as well. I read about these different debates and on toehr websites i turns into "I'm right no matter what you say for no other reason than just because." Logic is an essential aspect that makes people different so when you reflect on your decisions and idea with logic and an understanding of the other persons side, no one can go away sayin they oneor lost that round. I know everyone is excited for Roo and i am pumped because it is my first time. i would like to see some bands sign on that have in the past (come on String Cheese) but either way i am excited just to go anyway. At first i thought anyone would be insane to hate this line up but i guess if I was at Roo's in the past maybe i would be saying how Roo has changed and a call for the bands of the past. Gotta love the atmosphere of this place and just the respect and friendliness of the people here. Makes me even more excited to see all yinz at Roo. 2 and a half months doesnt seem that far away when you look at it.

I agree... BUT- I think that I did misunderstand the Roo vibe. See, I am only 25% into "jambands" and I went to Roo's past because of other types of music, but knowing I could at least dabble in the Jamband scene. I skipped major headliners because I wasn't there for them, I was there for Roo and the vibe and the experience.
And what is frustrating for me, is that when the shoe is on the other foot and there is a perceived shift in the band, suddenly there's this big disappointment cloud hanging over some people and it makes me doubt why other people were there. I mean, I plan on always going to Roo, no matter the lineup, if I'm able-- I don't want to scrutinize the lineup and make anyone feel bad for their preferences or tell people Roo has lost it's vibe based on Artist Additions.
I guess what I'm saying is: Roo is not the lineup. Roo is us. I hope I'm not being ridiculously vague here or not making sense...

i think we should keep this section all about the love and good vibes.... we should keep the discussion about preferences and scene shifts into the" is bonnaroo going mainstream thread"... not that this has been fighting or anything just so it dosent evolve into that again... we dont want newcomers to check out the inforoo vibe section and see a a heated back and forth

I agree. There's not one band playing at Roo I would pay money to see, but I shelled out $600 to go. Either I'm crazy or the Roo IS the vibe and the people, not the bands.

as a first time attendee i dont know if i am more excited for the music or the people, the more i read and think about just how awsome it will be to spend three days surrounded by thousands of people that are all connected by some common vibe, openmindedness and love for the art that bonnaroo makes available the more excited i get. even with never really experiencing bonnaroo to know first hand if it is worth coming from idaho for again, i am already planning next year- no matter who else gets added to the line up I know that bonnaroo is going to be one of the greatest experiences of my life.
The Roo is both the lineup and us, both will be different this year... $600 and no bands you want to see? You're definately crazy...
Just for clarification, I want to see ALL of the bands, I just wouldn't pay to see any of these individual bands if they came and played a gig at my hometown. And when I say I want to see ALL of the bands, I don't mean just the ones labeled a certain way; I want to taste it all because it's Roo.
Well people that enjoy music love it because it grows. Music does undergo change just as all things do. Thats is one reason why all people love music and the other people that love music and are willing to travel (at least for me about 950 miles Pittsburgh-Elon-Manchester) to go see a great show and meet everyone else. That is the spririt of these festivals anyway i thought? It just so happens to be that we as people tink that we are not the norm and become cofortable with that and forget that even our way of life we think is so unique undergos change as well, or at least it should. So it is the spirit and excitment of it all that makes people go and do whatever it takes to show up. Cant wait to meet more people that think the same way.
Yes, this messageboard does have a cool vibe, and I hope it's a reflection of Bonnaroo in general. The Coachella board is too full of flamebait fishermen and stupid arguments for me to even go to anymore... The closest thing we have to flamebait here is Keith, and he actually seems like a reasonable guy, even if he does sometimes rip on us non-jamband types, I'd still have a beer with the guy
Tick, not one band, huh? wow... i'm the opposite, there's at least 4-5 bands that I'd pay to see, but the more I read and hear about Bonnaroo itself, it's becoming just as big a draw for me as any of the bands.... so i hear what you're sayin.... see ya there!

What I like about this board and about the festival in general is that the people are amazingly tolerant, inspite of differing points of view. We've been the last two years and I can honestly say I can't remember so much as a raised voice let alone anyone getting in a fight. In spite of the muck and mud, the heat, close quarters and various altered states we get along and I think that says alot about the kind of music lovers who make the trek to TN. See ya in June!!

Bonnaroo can be an endless landscape of division or solidarity; it’s our own individual choice to embrace Bonnaroo as we feel or think it is. I’ll choose solidarity with a special thanks to all of you for allowing me to spend the weekend with you.
This is your house I’m simply humbled to be invited
may you always do for others and let others do for you freedom is just around the corner from you, ClarkGriswold
