Ryan Adams’ New “Easy Tiger” Tracklisting Announced Fred Mills February 28, 2007
As we reported to you yesterday in this space the new Ryan Adams album, Easy Tiger is due out on June 5. You WERE paying attention, right? Of course, we were calling it Steady Tiger yesterday, but don't worry about that little detail now, as it has been retroactively corrected via the miracle of digital technology. Website text editing means never having to say you're sorry (or wrong).
His label, Lost Highway, officially confirmed the news today and indicated the following songs will be appearing on it, although a final track sequencing has not yet been determined.
"Goodnight Rose", "Everybody Knows", "The Sun Also Sets", "Halloween Head", "Off Broadway", "Two Hearts", "Tears Of Gold", "These Girls", "Two", "I Taught Myself How To Grow Old", "Oh My God, Whatever, Etc.", "Rip Off", and "Pearls On A String"
‘nuf said. This has been a public service announcement—with twang—from your good friends at HARP.
this is pure speculation... but this definitely opens up a possibility for touring in june, and ryan was on the original "leaked" lineup... just adds hope for me

I don't get it? Ryan Adams comes out with a bazillion and a half albums last year,,, and all of them are friggin amazing! how he do that? <---ryan adams smiley
I think I would probably not be able to contain myself if Ryan played Bonnaroo. He's by far my favorite musician. I got to see him once a few years ago and it blew my mind. I have the polaroid to prove it.
I don't know how I feel about the guy. I love Heartbreaker, but not really attached to anything he's done. Plus, he sort of made an ass of himself last time he came down here for ACL. But then, that's kind of his MO. Not sure if I'd catch his set or not. It'd be a tough one.

amazing songs but such an ass. the past two times ive seen him went from best show ever (baltimore 6/05) to the worst ever (Charlottesville last year sometime). he has become lazy and just tired. i was positive he was playing 05 and didnt...so i dont know. maybe if willie is there he might be but i dout it. ryans ego wont let him be an artist addition.
The guy has been on the ball for well over a year now. The only complaints I've heard are from people who want him to go a different direction with his music. Every show I've grabbed over the past couple of years has been great. If you're looking for proof, check this boot...

love the guy...i do but after following him for...fuck...8 years now. he is just too much. almost cartoonish. like the time he punched out his lighting guy for missing a spotlight in london or breaking up with lindsay lohan for messing with his street cred...shit id see him... as always... but i wonder how pissed off the crowd would be. best possible scenario, drunk and an acoustic . or a whiskeytown reunion latenight that tent. playing 'mats and stones covers... oh and thanks for that show...it will keep me awake on the way to florida..

I'm not really against him moving back towards more of a country/roots based sound. I think it suits his earnestness better than the rock/pop drivel he has a tendency to poop out. But I'm sort of a believe it when I see it deal with RA. Nobody has ever pulled the crap he pulled on Austin City Limits. I think the Cardinals have been good for him, but I question how long the guy will stay on the straight and narrow. Hopefully, the Roo vibes will rub off on him, if he comes...heh...rub off on him...

What happened at ACL?
Having seen the footage (at least what was aired) and heard the music, I'm a bit confused. It was completely solid, but there's obviously something you know, that I don't...

He was doing his usual bitching the entire time and played a couple songs twice. Just a typical pre-sober adams moment. Ever since he's been sober, the guy seems to be in the right place. I'm also extremely excited to see that Off Broadway is going to be on the new album. Most of the other ones he's played live, and they are great as well with the exception of a couple duds.
aquariumdrunk is there any way to repost the download. It has disappeared. Last time I saw him he griped about the air conditioning messing with the tuning for a while, yelled at us for not listening quietly to a song, played drums for his opening act Kristi Yamagatta (while eating chinese food) all in a RA night. Having said that he was his brilliant self. I love his talent and enjoy not knowing what will happen next.
An oh I would love to see KY at roo. I dig the Harp she travels with
^^^ Rachel Yamagata, when I saw him she blew him away, he spent the whole night complaining and kept jamming out songs even though his solos were just going nowhere, got pretty annoying since i love all of his albums.
i am still asleep did i really type krisiti yamagatta? somebody smite me please. I am actually listening to happenstance and still screwed it up. eaak back to bed for me. I would Love to see RY at roo.
She was there a couple of years ago, I forget which year. My friend and I met her and told her she should really come back, while she was pretty happy with the crowd she got, she seemed really really turned off by the heat. Maybe next year if she has a new album.
Goodnight Rose Everybody Knows The Sun Also Sets Halloween Head Off Broadway [key track] Two Hearts [key track] Tears of Gold These Girls Two I Taught Myself How to Grow Old Oh My God, Whatever, Etc. Rip Off Pearls on a String
First Impressions:
Resisting his recent habit of dividing different sounds amongst different albums, Adams runs the gamut on Easy Tiger, giving his Grateful Dead fascination just as much room to breathe as his pop skills and country roots (although this LP leans toward the latter just a little).
The production isn't flashy at all. The vocals are way up in the front of the mix and they sound crystal clear.
The studio versions of the songs are reasonably faithful to the live versions he's been playing on tour, but with less wanky guitar parts and more thoughtful lyrics.
Songwriting is the name of the game, and it takes center stage here. No failed flamenco experiments abound, and Adams comes off as focused and feisty.
Sounds a bit like what Cold Roses would be like if he wrote it at the age of 40 instead of 30.
Noteworthy Info:
He's tapped into his gigantic vault of unreleased material and resurrected a whole song as well as a bridge from one of Suicide Handbook's better ballads.
His hip-hop alter ego DJ Reggie (who's posted several albums on ryan-adams.com) exercises little to no influence.
Prediction:
Easy Tiger looks like it might be the only Ryan Adams record released this year, and by disarming the army of critics who swear that he needs an editor, Adams songwriting prowess will come under the spotlight and win back some hearts.

The set lasted 3 hours. He kept bitching about his guitar being out of tune and the sound person messing his songs up. He left for awhile and then took his sweet ass time coming back leaving his bandmates hanging on stage. Someone in the crowd finally started heckling him at which point he smashed his guitar on stage, handed it to some random kid and left. He's pretty much not allowed back to the show.
Beside all his history of drama and over the top stage antics. I still love his music. And if the reports of him being on the straight and narrow stay that way and he doesn't revert to his usual self, I wouldn't miss his set at Roo. So here's to hoping he stays straight, and for the possibility of his addition to the lineup.

Ahhh, thanks for the clarification.
I've always kind of taken his bullsh*t with a grain of salt, so I guess I'm not surprised. Considering his relatively long recent history of non-bullsh*tiness, I'd still love to see him in Manchester come June.
^^^Yeah, I don't think he'd misbehave at Bonnaroo. Too much reputation on the line there. I'd love to see him there too. I just prefer it if he stayed away from ACL.

Just so everyone knows, this is a "pre-review" of the album that I believe was done by Harp. Nobody has heard this record yet.
