Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
So if the rest of the lineup were to stay the exact same, and you had the choice for a "more modern" headliner between Pearl Jam and Tool, who would you pick? I know it's overcrowded with polls right now in here, but as heavily as Pearl Jam was rumored, I thought it'd be interesting to see.
frankly i still cant believe either is headlining roo. im sure pj will next year. but i have to go with pearl jam. i was really into them 15 years ago. i was just a casual tool fan. but after listening to a live tool show im more excited to see them too. but still a slight edge to pj.

And I just put PJ ahead by one vote.
Id be psyched to see either (and I am, Tool:))
Despite my words about Tool being at Roo, Im very excited to see them. I really wanted to vote for them because Ive seen Pearl Jam play before. I just have to give it to them because I think they'd blow the preverbial roof off the Roo. That and Im pretty sure that after years of listening Eddie Vedders voice now patrols the frontal lobe of my brain.

I agreew ith venusifurs....Pearl jam is good and all, but Tool was what I grew up listening to. I've wanted to see them ever since I started listening to them.

I have never heard a non PJ fan come away from one of their concerts a fan. I have seen Tool convert people who weren't fans. Thusly, I defer to Tool.
That's complete nonsense. I've seen both bands live, and both are great. I'm sure every good live band converts people....much less one of the most popular live acts out there. Don't get me wrong, you have an opinion that I respect, but I think that it's a poor way to judge.

Well, the truth is I don't really like to listen to either band. In fact, up until their recent album, I couldn't stand PJ. Now I'd rate them on the same level as Tool in my indifference. So my criteria to seeing either band would be talking to people who aren't fans of either, like myself. I know a few people who've seen them both and weren't into either and every time the result's the same. They're surprised how much they like tool, and they remain indifferent to PJ. Couldn't tell you why. But that's there reaction. Which is why I defer to their opinion.

I've seen both bands more than once (well okay PJ 20 times) and PJ wins by a mile. Sure Tool sounds great live, but they're pretty much statues.
There's nothing like hearing Not for You, Brain of J to start off PJ shows, then closing with Baba O'Riley and Rockin in the Free World covers!
Drop the Leash
Mah ShhhNigga!!!! Have they been playing Not For You alot lately? I havent been hot on the bootleg and PJ scene for a bit. I always remember that song being a real b*tch to pull out of them. At least every show Ive heard and been to.

Realisticly we all find most of our music via word of mouth. I dont think his statement is nonsense at all. It depends more on your friends and who you know more than the bands actual performance in that case.
Both bands are tremendous live. Headliner quality. I have yet to see Tool, but like I said Ive heard easily over 30 shows by them. I always liked Tool boots, in my experience their fanbase has squeezed out alot of quality ones. PJ Ive actually seen a few times, so I can say theyre brilliant. Goes either way really as is reflected by the poll currently. I only voted for Eddie and the boy because I think they provide a tighter fit for the festival than Tool. Alot of folks have said recently "Well Radiohead played last year!!". Comparing Radiohead to Tool is like apples and oranges.

TOOLJAM, cant decide which one so Im splitting it right the middle. Would have loved for both of them to be there. Haven't seen either one live, I have however heard both of their live shows and think both of them would and will kill it at Roo.

....but 15 years of straight sellout tours without the help of MTV(except at the start) or studio-funded radio play puts them in the company of the greatest American rock bands in history, outside of personal bias or allegiance.
TOOL is certainly no stranger to selling out shows, and they also kept it real and shunned the MTV populatiry. Mad respect to TOOL, their musicianship and their awesome fans. IT'S REAL. But it's not on Pearl Jam's level.
who the hell is this guy??????? everyone knows pearl jam is by far the better band. so my vote is for p jam and eddie. although danny carey from tool is a jaw-dropping drummer and tool are very talented. i still have to say without a doubt pj would put on the best bonnaroo performance.
As someone who has seen both bands I would have to say Pearl Jam by a mile. Not only is Pearl Jam the more Roo friendly band but they play longer and more covers than Tool. Tool is great but I don't know how well they'll fit. I'm sure I'll like Tool's set but I was hoping for Pearl Jam this year. I just hope we don't get an hour and 45 min. set and they call it quits. I know if Pearl Jam would play it would be about a 3 hour show. Some have stated that they think that PJ has gotten progressively worse. I disagree. I like their newest self titled album the best. Plus with Tool it's not hard to put out good albums every 5 years. Also, I don't think I have ever come across a hardcore Tool fan that doesn't think the music is intense, deep, thought-provoking, and somehow more intelligent than every other band out there when reality is that they are just a good rock band.
Humanity has advanced, when it has advanced, not because it has been sober, responsible, and cautious, but because it has been playful, rebellious, and immature.
I have seen PJ 7 times live and Tool once. If Tool wasn't going to be at 'Roo (and thanks to an injury they might not be) I would have died having only seen Tool once. Very disappointing show. Maybe it was an off night or something, but I didn't enjoy it at all.
