I am starting to get anxious, does anyone else think that round 3 of artist additions is around the corner? I cant shake the feeling that we may get one before saturday of this week. What does everyone else think?
Part of me is hoping for one today. The initial lineup and 1st add came on Wednesdays I think and I remember someone saying we wouldn't get one til March. I've been patient, it's March 1, give me more. Realistically though, there are 67 acts on there no, only ~13 to add, and a lot of ground between now and June. They must time them to try to boost sales at certain times, and if that were the case I think they would want to hold off for a while. Perhaps earlier announcements would indicate tickets are selling briskly?
I've familiarized myself with about 60 of the acts on the bill so far (I'm avoiding those announced for Thursday because I won't be there yet and would only get frustrated right now). There's about 58 of them that I really like and would really like to see, so in that sense I don't want any more announcements/conflicts.
One little hope I have is that maybe Ben Harper will be announced around the time of his 3/21 record release. Other than that kind of commercial motivation, I can't imagine why they would hold back any big names at this point (there's more festival competition every year).
My thought was that, with all the other festivals being announced they might want to steal a few people who are contemplating going to another show instead. I am sure a few people are waiting on one or two more "big" acts to be announced before deciding what state they will venture to for a festival. Maybe we will get lucky and they will put something up soon.

Bonnaroo is in a league of its own, thus there is no reason to compete with other festivals. Other fesivals have to compete aginst Bonnaroo. Who else as of right now has Oysterhead,Radiohead, Beck,Elvis Costello, Phil Lesh, Cat Power, Death Cab and so on at their festival? For the exception of Beck, these ppl are not playing any other festival posted. There are other names, but the point is that Bonnaroo is a unique creature with the vibes, bands, the sets that they play and so on.

I think that Coachella is in Bonnaroo's league. They just pulled in Madonna for a tent set, which IHMO is a major addition, even if you are not a fan of hers it is still intriguing. Whether you are into that type of music or not, you still have to admit that it is in the same league as Bonnaroo.
I think that the Roo definitely has to be aware that since they started there has been a proliferation of new festivals that is biting into their piece of the pie. That means more festivals for festival-goers to choose from and more festivals for bands to choose to play at. I am starting to think that the Lips are not coming to the Roo, but I am still hoping.
But yeah, I am ready for the next round of additions. It has been a little while and we need some more hip-hop and djs added. Plus the lips.
As far as I recall, the nine bands on thursday last year were not annouced prior to the festival, so we may have more than just the 13 bands left that seems to be the consensus
"Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment are proud to announce the initial lineup for the 2006 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. The fifth annual three-day camping and music festival will be held on June 16-18, 2006, on the same 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles south of Nashville. A list of confirmed acts follows, with more to be announced in the weeks ahead to round out the festival's 80-plus acts."
If there are 67 now, then we can expect anywhere from 14 to 22 more bands (81 to 89 total bands)

Gabby La La was announced because we were confused that we couldn't find her on the schedule. I don't know about any of the other ones.
I doubt that Cat Power will play - she's been very ill, and according to the rumours, is taking an indefinite hiatus a la Ani diFranco.
Based on years past, expect 3-5 artists to back out between now and June - last year, there were 77 bands playing on the main stages, nearly 100 if you count the Sonic stages (which I don't).
