Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I think it's safe to say, that with the lineup as is, and with the jump in ticket prices, some people are considering not going back to the Roo. How many tickets do you think they'll sell?
I'm saying it will sell out. This might be roos last year. The lease is up on the land. So who knows, that alone might bring in some people. No telling.
Radiohead alone is going to sell this thing out. I'm really surprised by how many people on this board haven't really heard much of their stuff. Such an incredible band, and many here are really not giving them a chance since they evidently aren't "jam" enough....whatever that means.
Every year I realize I am worse than I think at predicting this kind of thing. It seems like there is always a "they are going to sell like hotcakes, if you don't get them in the first hour your screwed" point of view and a "since this and that has changed, it might not even sell out this year" view.
"There's no Widespread this year? That was the whole base of the festival"
"Dave Mathews fans will buy up all of the tickets right away!"
Then you get Widespread and DMB there last year and it doesn't sell out for the first time.
I'll go on record as saying I have absolutely no idea how they'll sell, and I don't really care. You will definitely be able to get tickets if you want them and can swing it financially when they go on sale. If your finances won't be in place until April or something like that, then its an important question obviously.
I would think a big special Radiohead show could probably sell 80,000 tickets though, and Bonnaroo offers so much more. I also think there could be another couple big names in store although there may not be.
About the five-year lease thing, I've heard this a million times, and it is widely referred to as an established fact, but has anyone seen an official reliable source on this? Has anyone seen Superfly or AC or the city of Manchester or the dude who owns the farm say this as an established fact? I would just be curious to see it if someone has. There is a lot of permanent structure on that property (mostly foundation, not standing buildings) and it would be quite a long time before that land was useful for other purposes at this point.

radiohead is amazing. and i bet it will bring more people in from more places. do people come to bonnaroo from over seas too? i bet if they didn't some will this year.
as for the rumors of the lease. i sure hope that the man who owns those farms doesn't cut out on the lease. i don't know why he would, hell its just tennesse, with the money he's been making he could go buy more land than that is. oh well, we can only hope. if it wasn't going to be in manchester would they move it? or would bonnaroo be altogether... done...
The farmer who owns 5/7ths of the assembled land entered into a five-year lease, up this year -- negotiations made with Coffee County, which may or may nor be tiring of our festivity (but I know they like the money). He's made ton$$, and no longer uses the property to run cattle (the working part of the farm is closer to the Main Entrance...what other "permanent structures has anyone seen? I know the mushroom and arch are there year-round!). He may re-up with Superfly, he may not; the land certainly has much value, especially his 500-acre parcel between two I-24 exits. What with the booming Nissan and Toyota plants nearby, I am sure Farmer Macdonald (really) has plenty else going on.
Personally, I am just f*cking psyched for my 3rd Roo....
I know the 5 year lease thing was in the Manchester paper last year. Shortly after Roo 05 I heard that 6flags bought the land. For the life of me I can't remember witch paper I saw that in. The Tennessen maybe?

i hope it sells out. I think it will this year. The lineup is great and I am sure with the additions a few more "jam" bands will be added which will make some people happy. There are enough bands that will bring people in. Hell last year I didn't go to one headlining show as I don't really like DMB or widespread. I still had the best time of my life. I am sure I will this year and again I don't even really love the headliners but you bet I am going to go see radiohead and beck.

I think, and hope, that even if bonnaroo cant keep the land they will just relocate. THey have a strong enough backing that i think no matter where it is people will still go. I think on wikipedia i read they tried to get one goin on in new york, but it never happened, dont know how official that is. Who really knows what will happen with the lease, we can only hope bonnaroo will continue regardless. O yea, its definatly selling out with those headliners alone.

That is very true. It was back in 2003 when it was supposed to happen. They had tickets going and so forth, but they backed out because of problems with the other festival playing at the same site(Fieldday) I know this because I live in Riverhead. I was so bummed out that I didn't have have any cool festival in my town. I mean that summer Radiohead,Beck,Bestie Boys,Dave and Tim,The Dead, Tom Petty and others were to play in my town.Talk about a major letdown!

I would definatly go for an east coast relocation, new york would be nice. 1. weather isnt quite as brutal 2. I love the east coast, and think its the most beautiful part of the country and 3. I have family all over the east coast, so thatd be nice for traveling and such, and could kill 2 birds with one stone. For many i think traveling time would be similar though, who knows if more people come from east coast or wherever.

I'm sorry, but radiohead or not, this festival will not sell out right away. So far, the line-up is nothing compared to previous years, but they've only just begun.....
I have been going around some other band message board(Beck,Death Cab, and so forth) and it seems as though they don't know what to make of Bonnaroo. Either they haven't heard of it before or want to make the effort to come. Not sure if that is any help to anyone, but i would think this won't sell out right away like some might have thought.
I think it will sell out, it wont be the same as previous years for sure but i think it will sell out, i know people around my campus who have bought tiuckets taht have never gone. It will be different, but i think it will sell out.

lizard king tickets aren't on sale yet. Maybe those people won't even buy them. Every year I knwo a few people who talk about going...they never get around to it though. I am curiuos to see what the other bands boards have people saying. I never thought about that.

With Radiohead and Beck, I can't help but think that they are going to sell to 1) many people that were coming before that are interested in new types of bands and 2) people who have never come before who want to see BECK, AND RADIOHEAD, AND BEN FOLDS, ETC in an environment they have never seen these acts in before.....I am buying my ticket early because I can't take the chance that they will sell out
I will agree with alot of folks on a number of topics. As for a sellout, who knows, as long as I get my ticket(s). hehe. I would hate to see the festival moved to anywhere, I too love that farm and this will only be my second Roo. There is just too much money generated in a short period of time for the city of Manchester to host another retailer/whatever there, imo. But honestly which of us have the facts. Happy Roo'ing Roo'ers, see ya's there. Smokey San

I'm a 'Roo newbie so I don't really get it when people say the line up sucks terribly compared to last years/other festivals. I've seen both Dave and Widespread, the headliners of last years shows... personally, I love their work and think they are great, but Radiohead and Beck are THE artists of this generation. You take pretty much any record from 1990 onward, I don't think very much of it at all compares to OK Computer and Odelay. Maybe thats just me, though.
Or maybe its some other acts that aren't returning? It would kick ass to see the Allman Bros there, or Modest Mouse, or whomever. This years line up seems to have a good amount of Jam ... Robert Randolph, moe., Disco Biscuits with Umphry's, Oysterhead, etc... with some other diverse acts, too.
