This will be my first Bonnaroo experience and I'm looking forward to it. I really need help on what to do about schedule problems. Is it better to catch whole sets, or partial sets while wandering around? I've always been someone who liked to see whole sets, but was just wondering what you guys thought was the best option. Thanks a lot.
It's totally up to your personal preference. If you prefer to see a whole set, and you are willing to miss a conflicting show, then you should stay. On the other hand, if you just can't decide between two shows, check out some of each. If you are going to be splitting shows, just remember that you probably won't get as good of a spot if you show up part-way through the show. (This may or may not be important to you.)
That said, I would suggest planning ahead. Think about your priorities so that you have a pretty good idea about where you want to be at any given time. You can always change your mind, but if you plan ahead, you are less likely to miss something you really wanted to see.
I try to catch full sets. That said, if I am not feelnig a set and I look down at my schedule and see someone else that I may be interested in, I have no hesitation on bailing from a set. For the most part though, I stick to full sets.
If you like to see whole sets, see whole sets. You'll get a decent spot showing up five minutes early and you'll have a great time being right in the thick of things.
For me it's always a mix - they're some sets I want to see all of, but some I just plan to show up late and hear a few songs from further away.
Note one other thing - it's a lot easier to roam from tent to tent or even tents to Which Stage (based on location), but What Stage is kind of separated from things so it's hard to wander over there for just a sec. Keep that in mind if you plan an hour or so of "wandering around."

Thanks, that's good to know about the Which Stage. I think for now I'll probably plan an staying for whole sets, or at least as much as I can catch. I can always change my mind based on a vibe, or passing a show that sounds really cool.

And you totally will!
All your plans will go out the window when you get there. For a mildly anal-retentive person like myself, it was hard for me to believe it. Trust me though, spontaneity rules like you've never known before and you'll love every single second of it.

so true.. everyone here is making out thier lists and schedules right now, but when they get there, it will all fall apart.. The only bands I'm absolutly sure that I'll see full sets of are Radiohead, Oysterhead, and Phil & Friends.. the rest is all up to chance
but yeah, I have a schedule made out, but I don't think that I'll be following it rigorously.
